"What do you mean go left? There isn't a corridor to the left!" The Rat-Faunus looked at his Scroll in frustration, he'd managed to get it to show a map, but that turned out to be the easy part. Tapping on the wrong part of the screen and closing the map only caused him to groan loudly and rest his head against the wall in defeat. He looked up and down the corridors, slinking further along them. He'd been at the Academy for all of an hour, and the amount of things that just weren't explained to him were huge. Thankfully, they'd at least told him that he'd been allocated a room and that he'd be sharing it with a few people. His mind wandered onto what they'd be like. He hoped one of them could explain to him some of the more technological things, then again, would it be better if they used Dust, like he did? Were they going to be another Faunus, or a Human? Did they bring Snacks? Would they share? He hoped they would share, he was hungry. He shook his head slightly, cursing as he looked at the door numbers. He'd missed it. Curse his silly thoughts.

"101...103...10...9? Wait...oh who am I kidding, I'll just wander until I find it..." His eyes darted from left to right, his pace quickening, but still cautious, like a hunter looking for his prey. In his hand he gripped a key with '143' on it, finally getting to an open area, spying a room with the number matching his key, grinning widely and jumping excitedly. He looked around a little shyly as he composed himself, hoping people didn't notice how happy he was to complete such a minor task. He took a deep breath and opened the door to the room.

Hyght Briggs
Mason stopped just outside of the main building, his short stature causing him to look up slight at Hyght. "You need anything else, son?" He asked, trace concern lining his words.

"No. I got it from here, Mason. Thank you." Hyght said as he traded grips with the short, craggy faced Hunter. Mason was a recruiter for Syne Academy, the only training center for Hunters and Huntresses in Bellmuse. Hyght had sought out the recruiter after hearing he had passed through his village. After three different attempts Mason finally agreed to take Hyght to Syne. Hyght wasn't your traditional Hunter in training. His pudgier body didn't scream "fighter" nor did his appearance come off as intimidating, however he sought out the recruiter and never stopped pestering him until he was accepted.

Hyght adjusted his glasses and noticed he nor Mason were moving. "M-Mason I-" Mason raised his hand, palm out, and made a slight waving motion. "Don't thank me. This isn't going to be a picnic. You've got some pretty big disadvantages here, kid. If you really want to make it, don't give up." He flashed Hyght a small smile. "If you need me, here." Mason pulled out a small white device, a Scroll, the normal compact computer system that all throughout Remnant use, and read off his contact info. Hyght nodded and input the numbers into his own Scroll. "Feel free to contact me anytime." Hyght smiled weakly and nodded. "Now go get some rest, it's been a long trip. And good luck."

Hyght watched Mason turn and head down a different path than him and felt a strange sense of calm wash over him. "Same to you." He whispered to himself before pushing open the main hall doors.

"Holy mother of..." He trailed off as the interior lights of the main hall bathed the room in pearl white. The tiles of the floor shined with what looked to be a fresh coating of wax and the walls looked to have been freshly painted. Hyght stood at the entrance way, his right hand on the hilt of his sword while his shield bobbed gently against his pack. The door he pushed open slowly began to close now that he wasn't acting against it. The young baker stepped to the side and could hear his sneakers squeak against the tiles, the sound didn't echo much as the sound waves encountered more than a score of people, but it was heard. "I'm finally here." He breathed and felt him skin pebble with gooseflesh.

Roughly an hour later Hyght found himself wandering down a hall, his Scroll in one hand and his key in the other. "Room 143. 143. 143." The young man continued, counting down the door numbers as he went until he came across an open door. "143?" He asked aloud and peered into the room. There was someone in it already, if the open door wasn't already a dead give away. Inside the room was a young man of under average height, he had hair of dark brown it looked with a tinting of red it seemed. He was of a lean build with clothes Hyght found far more fashionable than his own. He hadn't seemed to have unpacked so chances were he either had just gotten to the room or he was in no rush. Hyght knew the feeling.

"Hello." He said as he rapped his knuckles on the door, alerting the young man of his presence. It wasn't till after the man moved that he noticed the thin, wiry tail that sprout from the young Faunus' pants. "I take it this is your room?" He took a step into the room and let his eyes slide around the interior. "Guess I'm your new roomie." He said shrugging his pack and shield off and onto the floor. "My names, Hyght." He extended his hand. "What's yours?"

Bashir had been looking through his bags at the time, few as they were, the only things that he's really gotten to doing was placing them on a bed, the top bunk, naturally, and removing some vials of deep blue Dust, which he almost dropped as the Human announced himself. The Faunus quickly hopped down from where he was rummaging and looked up at the newcomer. He froze up a little as he looked, trying to think of the best thing to say without sounding stupid... "Ah...I suppose so!" he paused, shaking his hand, My name is Bashir, I'm pretty new here, well, to the academy anyway, I've always lived in Bellmuse..."

He noted the shield that had now taken up residence in the room, and judged that it's owner must be a fighter of sorts. His own weapon, Wilder, was slotted into his belt, but folded up how it was just looked like an oddly shaped piece of metal. He awkwardly resumed unpacking his bags, placing a few curiosities around his area. Items such as a dreamcatcher, runes, Dust and, most importantly, his Grimm-like mask, quickly began to take their positions. "So..." he began, cautiously, "Who are you? I mean, I know your name and all, but...you know, what do you do?" He hoped the question didn't offend, he was never the best at people skills...

Hyght Briggs

Hyght Briggs
The exchange grips with the Faunus and could feel his strong and calloused fingers. Hyght felt a bit self-conscious that his own fingers lacked the similar strength and roughness. "Nice to meet you, Bashir." He replied as they released each others' hand. Bashir was new to the Academy as well, having no doubt just gotten here too. His sharp eyes flickered to Hyght's pack for a moment before he turned and began pulling out different items. Hyght noted the dreamcatcher and runes, a Grim-like mask that caught his attention and made he curious of the story behind it, and finally some Dust. Hyght looked at the Dust and felt an eyebrow rise.

He opened his mouth to ask about it but was met with a question of his own. Bashir didn't seem all to comfortable right now, maybe he wasn't too good around new people? Hyght turned and followed Bashir's lead and began to unpack as he spoke. "Well, like you, I'm a natural born Bellmusician, he said with some humor. "But I'm a baker by trade. My family owned a bakery back in our town. Though I learned more than just baking. I can cook up a mean meal," He said with a smirk. "Well, given the right ingredients." He added and pulled a small stack of personal books from his pack. Two cook books, two books on Dust Application, and three volumes of weapon crafting. Each had large, pale creases in the spines speaking to their amount of usage. Hyght placed them under the bottom buck of the opposite bed. "Hope the others don't mind I snagged the bottom." He thought aloud and sat on the bed.

"What about you, Bashir? What is it you do? Or did, rather?"

Gricelda Mee

Gricelda Mee
Gricelda makes her way down the halls as she makes her way to her dorm. She was wearing rather causal attire today, a simple grey colored cotton T-shirt and some comfortable black sweatpants. She was sweaty and gross of from cardio running for most of the day but she didn't seem to care. Afterall, why would she? Didn't have any roommates yet so no one was going to care what she looked like when she returned to her room. Of course when she finally arrives to her room, she was perplexed as to why the door was left ajar. She was certain that she locked the door before leaving. As she pushes the door open, only to see two young males inside. She opens her mouth slightly but no words come out. She looks to the room number, confirms that it was indeed her room number, then looks back to the gentlemen before. She states awkwardly

"Errr... ummm... you would you happen to be my roommates? Cause... if not... I'm... going to have to kick the both of you out."

If they were her roommates... her coming in in what is basically her pajamas and glisting like a sweating hog not the sort of first impression she wanted with her new roommates.

Kindlingrat

Bashir was impressed with Hyght's past, and it was nice to see how friendly and open he was about the whole thing. At the mention of being a baker, Bashir finally knew luck was on his side! After all, a roommate who can cook means that you eat well, right? He could cook, but for survival, not for flavour, and if there was anything this knew city had taught him it was that food was gooood... Upon seeing the books on Dust he KNEW this was gonna be good. All of his training was informal and field based, some theory would be good to back it up. He wondered at how Dust would look used by someone trained in theory, as opposed to trial and error. He looked a little more at ease now, smiling cheerfully as he finished unpacking his things.

Just as he was about to reply to Hyght's comment, he was interrupted by Gricelda, causing him to let out a small squeak in surprise as he jumped slightly. Turning to look at her, he looked startled, "Of course! This IS room 143 isn't it?" He paused for a moment, "I..isn't it? This IS the room, right? Please Hyght, tell me it's the right room!" He looked up at Hyght pleadingly, I mean after all, he didn't want his first impression at this Acadamy to be as someone who broke into a Girl's room.

Hyght Briggs

Just before Bashir could answer, another person entered the room. She was short, though possibly normal height for a young girl, with grey hair and grey ears that twitched atop her head. A faunus then. Hyght thought as he noticed the workout clothes she wore and the stillness of a grey furred appendage. If the ears weren't a dead enough giveaway. He thought as the young funus girl spoke. From her words this was her room, which Hyght thought was a bit surprising as he didn't think males and females would be staying in the same rooms. Her statement, while sounding a bit awkward, could have been a  legitimate warning. Hyght glanced at her arms and noted the tight, wiry muscles in her arms and the way her feet were.

During Hyght's observation of the new person, Bashir had begun to worry he had gone into the wrong room. "It's the right room, bud." He said calmly, a smile on his face. "You key opened up the locked door and the door marker reads the correct door. You're fine." He chuckled before looking to the young girl. "No need to throw down. I'm Hyght," he gestured to his new friend, "And this is Bashir. We're your new roommates." He nodded to her attire. "Do you need us to step out for a minute?"

He then glanced at the bunk he sat on and his eyes widened slightly. "This isn't your bed is it?" He asked quickly as he began to stand.

Gricelda Mee

Gricelda Mee
Gris starts nodding her head even before she beings to speak, sounding flustered when she does so.

"Yes... yes yes!  Do step out while I... change!"

She barges her way into the dorm as she makes her way to her suitcase full of clothes.  She doesn't bother looking up to Hyght as she is unzipping her luggage:

"No, mine is the one above yours."

As she opens the case, she remembered that in her embarrassment she forgot to introduce herself.

"Oh... and I am Gricelda Mee.  You can just call me Gris for short though.  Most people do."

It was only now that she was looking at Hyght that she realized that he was... about a head taller than her.  More concerning to her... he was a human.  She expected as much but doesn't mean that she had to like it.  She furrows her brow as she finishes inspecting him and turns her gaze to Bashir.  She appears relieved that at least she had a fellow faunus as roommate.  She goes back to looking at her luggage, grabbing a plain white hand towel from the now open suitcase.

Kindlingrat

"Y..yes, I'm Bashir!" He pipes up as Hyght introduces him. Another Faunus... He was intrigued, as she was the first other that he'd spoken to since arriving at the city, most of the people he'd known in his life were human, so it was a little bit of a shock to him. He was glad that she seemed to be taking the initiative though, barging into the room like that, it would make things much less awkward in the time to come.

Once it registers that she just said she wants to change, he hastily exits the room, trying his best not to seem too awkward, his long tail swishing behind him as he does so. He stands in the doorway, waiting for the other male to join him. He was a alittle puzzled by the glare that Griz was giving Hyght, his mother had always told him that things were bad between Humans and Faunus, but he'd not experienced that himself.

S...so Griz... What is it that you do, you know, I use Dust and stuff, Hyght here has a mean Shield and can cook... you?" He spoke, facing away from the two out of politeness now.

Hyght Briggs

The young faunus girl nodded and confirmed she wanted to change. She cut a swath through the room as she went to her suitcase. She replied to Hyght without looking his way but something made her stop and lift her attention to them. She introduced herself as Gricelda Mee, or Gris. Hyght nodded in understanding as her forehead made small creased from her furrowed brow. Hyght thought for a moment he may have done something to offend her. Or maybe it's something else. he thought as she looked to Bashir and let her golden eyes drink in the young faunus. Her expression seemed to relax some and her attention shot back to her suitcase.

Hyght took that as his cue to step from the room, "'Scuse me." He said turning to slip by Bashir whom had asked her a similar question that he had been asked. Bashir mentioned Hyght's shield being mean which the young man glanced to the circular piece of metal strapped to his pack. Hyght's eyes lingered on the shield for a moment before he looked out into the hallway. The shield may be mean looking, but it's seen no combat with me. He thought sourly as he noticed the small, strangely shaped blade on Bashir's hip from his peripheral. "I can make some pretty mean bread too." He added to Bashir's words before Gricelda replied.

Gricelda Mee

With the boys out of the room, and trusting that they were not going to peek at her changing, Gris proceeds to strip down to her sports bra and boy shorts.  She stuffs sweaty relaxwear back into the suitcase so that no one has to see her dirty clothing laying about.  She quickly pats herself down with a white hand-towel to remove the sweat from her earlier workout, stuffing the piece of cloth as into the suitcase as well.  While she could do with a shower, she wasn't going to have the boys wait any more than they have to.  A quick sniff of herself confirmed that she didn't reek, but opted to pull out some "mountain water" scented deodorant on her armpits so that she was at least pleasant smelling.  As she tosses the deodorant aimlessly into the suitcase, she hears Bashir ask her about what it is that she can do.  Hearing what they could do almost warrants a chuckle from her as she calls out for the both of them to hear:

"My talent is that I can fight.  We are not here to learn the eldritch mechanics of Dust and the art of fine culinary so I hope the both of you can hold your own when we do battle with the enemy."

With that response, Gris felt it most appropriate to suit up in her combat attire.  While she couldn't wear her old White Fang uniform, her parents were nice enough help her by this new combat outfit before departing to Syne.  Today seemed like a good day to wear them, if mostly to help keep up the impression that was the tough fighting girl to her new roommates.  In her mind, she had to show who was the dominate one here.  As Gris changes into her combat outfit, she hollered out to the boys:

"So what is your guy's combat experience?  Did you attend one of the combat schools before coming Syne?  Or are you the rejects that none of the other Academies wanted to enroll?  I dunno about you but a kingdom as small as Bellmuse must be scraping the barrel for young hunters and huntresses to train."

Kindlingrat

Kindlingrat
Bashir couldn't help but let out a little chuckle at Griz's comments. Surely, he thought, when Dust could be a potent weapon then learning about it was just as important as learning how to fight. Combining this with Hyght's comment on his 'mean bread', he thought for a moment about creating some sort of Elemental Dust Loaf, no one had tried it before...maybe it would be a potent weapon, or tasty, wait, what was going on? Oh, right, Roommates. "Well, those eldrich mechanics might just save your ass out in the field. Give me Water Dust over a blade any day."

When asked about his schooling, Bashir couldn't help but look a little embarrassed. He'd not had any formal schooling, and he'd not have been here if it wasn't for a certain Huntsman dropping a letter of enrollment at his house. "My mother trained me in the use of Dust and hunting techniques until I was a teenager. Everything since that has been fieldwork, applying what I know to survive in the wilds. I haven't been properly schooled in combat, but I've learned to control my Semblance and have faced Grimm before..." He paused. "Don't assume thet people are rejects, either. When you live in Bellmuse, maybe you just want to do everything you can to protect the people in it, and personally, I find that more valuable than any amount of training so far. We're here to do training, but your determination is something you can't learn."

Hyght Briggs

Hyght Briggs
Gricelda's words made Hyght think back to Mason, the recruiter he had pestered to bring him to Syne. Mason and he had spent many hours talking during their journey, politics, weaponry, Dust usages, and the economical stability of the other kingdoms compared to Bellmuse. The craggy recruiter held nothing back and urged Hyght to understand that the people he will meet at Syne won't be like those from his village. The rest of the world was not as peaceful and understanding as his home. Hyght had only a small understanding of what some people had gone through. He had been lucky enough to be born where he was but something in the word Gricelda spoke, or maybe the way she said them, made Hyght think she hadn't been so lucky. With Bashir's addition of his experience Hyght realized, neither had he.

Bashir stated that he already had his Semblance and that he'd fought Grimm. Hyght stole a glance at his new roommate and could see the etching of combat and a tough life in his eyes. But what surprised him more than that were the words Bashir said in response to Gricelda's "rejects" comment.

...maybe you just want to do everything you can to protect the people in it, and personally, I find that more valuable than any amount of training so far. We're here to do training, but your determination is something you can't learn.

Hyght didn't realize he was staring until two or three breaths later. Bashir didn't know Hyght, didn't know what he felt, but he had voiced what the young baker had felt. The imagery of the murdered family flashed before his eye and Hyght felt his stomach turn. Forcing his face to remain casual he rode the wave of disgust and irrational regret out till it calmed. Once his turbulent stomach was at peace once more he looked at Gricelda and shook his head. "While I wouldn't be against being a reject...actually, I've never been trained in combat." He admitted, taking in her combat gear. "I never had the want, need, or drive to learn. I was a baker, cook, small repairs guy in my village. I never had a reason to really learn." He shrugged as if it were no big deal. "But like Bashir said, we're here to learn right? Here to train to become Hunters and Huntresses. While I'm not good in combat I'm not too bad in other areas." He gestured to the books under the bed.

"From what I was told, the initial briefing will inform us of different groups we would fall into. While I may not be very good in combat. Yet. I am good at maintenance of weaponry and Dust application. I'm a tinkerer. And you can't fight on an empty stomach for long." Hyght let his lips spread into a smile and he shrugged. "Provided you aren't vegetarian." He jested.

Gricelda Mee

Gricelda Mee
As Gricelda continues changes to her combat outfit, all the while till facing away from Bashir and Briggs, her ears continue to be trained to the to the boy's responses.  The rat-faunus didn't take too kindly to the "rejects" comment but least he had actual combat experience to make up for his lack of training.  And he seems to care about protecting others even if he sounded naive.  The tall boy she was more concerned about, he didn't sound like someone willing to put up a fight so why is he even here?

"Hey, didn't mean it as an insult now... more of observation.  Besides, I wouldn't be here if wasn't a reject myself." states Gricelda as she finishes slipping into her combat boots and turns to face the boys, who seemed to have entered right when she finished changing.  She would have said something about manners but she didn't wish to fuss over that at the moment.

"Well, actual combat experience with Grimm is certainly valuable.  Certainly better than coming to a school dedicated to fighting Grimm and only being able to offer the skills of a handyman and baker."
she says as her eyes narrows while looking to Hyght.  Gris then shrugs dismissively as she states causally:

"But as long as you wish to strive to preform at your best to fight the Grimm then who am I to fault you."

Gris crosses her arms as she looks to them at the both of them intently.

"For myself... I started training to become a huntress since I was about ten since I wanted to have the same respect as my father who is also hunter.  I attended several combat schools in the Kingdom of Vale as part of my learning.  While the combat theory and tactics were valuable, most of my actual fighting experience comes from my time with the White Fang.  So plenty of scuffles with bigoted dust shop owners, Schnee Company's robotic security, the Vale police, and sometimes hunter or huntress but... never had to fight with Grimm so I'm a bit out of my element.  I personally favor hit and run tactics, closing in on the enemy and hitting them hard with my hand-axe then quickly dashing out of the way to avoid getting hurt.  So while I never had the luxury to fight a Grimm yet, I'm certain I have to skill to fell the foul creatures and further improve them during my time in Syne.  Afterall, we are here to learn to be the best Hunters and Huntresses as we are capable of, yes?~"

A gleeful grin curls on her face as she recalls her experiences, seemingly proud of what she as accomplished.  She then chuckles a little as quickly adds, almost as an afterthought:

"Oh, and I consider myself a carnivore so that should not be an issue.  But..."

She once she fixes her golden amber eyes to Hyght, she wasn't sure if he was trying to make a jab at her with vegetarian comment but she might as well set him straight since they are going to be roommates.

"I've heard almost every jab, crude remark, and insult about my faunus nature so if you ever feel the urge to try to humiliate me and compare me to an animal, do keep it to yourself.  I'm sure you didn't mean anything with the vegitarian comment but I would like to get the record straight.  As long as you treat me as a person and not as a dog or wolf or anything lesser, then we will get along just fine.  You respect me and... I respect you."

Kindlingrat

Kindlingrat
Bashir stopped for a moment, he hadn't even expected himself to make such a speech, but for the most part was glad that it was taken seriously, he didn't know what he'd do if it was laughed at. Ah well, no point thinking about it. With Hyght's comment about never being trained in combat, he was taken aback slightly, he hadn't expected him to have NO combat experience, but if he was studied and good at dust then he'd be a boon, better to have a great fighter and a good support than two acceptable fighters who could support themselves. He admired Hyght's dedication, he must truly be determined to have gotten in here without any experience, or a way with words, both skills in themselves.

With Gricelda, she seemed to be something different. She admired raw, physical power, something he couldn't really compete with, but then again he was a Duster, so that wasn't his focus. He gave a little smile as she accepted Hyght, she was laying down ground rules for respect, which at least showed that she wasn't too closed-minded, which would always be a boon. He was puzzled at the White Fang comment, however, all he knew was that they were extremists, they caused a lot of trouble for Faunus...but she was an ex-member, so he wouldn't judge or pry, she had her reasons. No idea who the Schnee company was, but he simply dismissed it.

She kept calling the Grimm 'foul creatures', but he didn't think that was the case. He thought that they were simply lost, angry souls who needed to be sent on their way, formed of negative emotion and such. He had learned that it was an opinion he should keep to himself, though. People didn't like thinking of them as anything more than monsters.

"Well, I think that's enough formal introduction for one day, we keep talking like this it's gonna get awkward fast, eh? Let's try something casual... Say, I'm starving with a lack of Lien, Griz could probably do with a bite to eat too... I say Hyght should show us these 'impressive cooking skills' and we have some nice casual chat." He smiled, "Don't worry, I'll do the peeling and chopping, gutting, skinning... wait, they just have packed meat here don't they..." He rambled.

Hyght Briggs

Hyght Briggs
From what the young faunus girl said she was a well experienced fighter, though unlike Bashir, she hadn't fought any Grimm before. She was a bit rough around the edges it seemed and had no reservation about her apparent past affiliations. The White Fang, a very out-spoken organization of Faunus that were tired of being pushed around or ignored. From what Hyght had read and been told in history classes, the Faunus and Humans had been at odds since anyone could remember and things had only gotten worse. The White Fang had apparently started as a non-violent protest movement that, over time, had moved to more forceful means of protest. Hyght had no experience with actual animosity or racism toward Faunus or against Humans as his home was pretty balanced in both populations and everyone seemed to get along. That didn't mean it might not have been there, just that he hadn't experienced or seen it first hand.

Gricelda also spoke of her enemies, Dust shops and even the Schnee Company themselves. Hyght found it a bit far fetched but he didn't know what it was like to be a Faunus in the Vale, or at all for that matter, so the likelihood of her having fought them in one way or another could be true. The wolf-faunus made a side long, somewhat passive aggressive comment about his skills as a handyman and baker. Despite her having mentioned her ties and now understanding the looks and the attitude, it didn't stop the heat that began to rise in his stomach. He may be a handyman and baker but he was proud of his skills. He liked his skills and he didn't like that she was bad mouthing them. However, that didn't mean he should let the heat take hold and fire back without thinking. It wouldn't do anything but rile her up more. She has me placed inside of a box already. No sense in making her think her organizational decision was right. He thought as Gricelda ended with a comment of respect.

Hyght raised his hands with his palms open and toward her, a placating gesture. "Sorry," he said seriously. "It was just a joke. I meant no offense." He look at Gricelda in the eyes from across the room. "I won't treat you as anything less than a person, Gricelda. Respect for respect." He was pretty sure this reply would mean she was the dominant one of the group, which so long as she didn't break any of his limbs, he was okay with that. Hyght never lived up to the stereotypical archetype of what a "man" was supposed to be. He wasn't one that really cared to lead or be in-charge, he liked having his part and doing it as best he could. It was one of the things that make him comfortable. If she wanted to see herself as the dominant one around him, he was okay with that. No skin off my back. He thought with a bit of spiteful humor to his inner voice.

Following their exchange, Bashir pipped in and offered, not only a change of venue but a change in topic. Apparently he was hungry to which, at the sound of the word food, Hyght's stomach growled. He glanced down at his gut and gave it a pat. "Alrighty then!" He said with a smirk on his face. "Let's get some grub. Grics, you in?" He asked and gestured with his head toward the hallway as he stepped backward from the room. "And yes, Bash. In the markets here you can get either fresh or packaged meat." He felt his grin spread into a smile. "Though I think we should swing by the cafeteria first. I don't have much in the way of money right now." He gave a single shoulder shrug and felt a mild stiffness there. "Any objections to scoping out the local grub?" He asked his new roommates as he walked backward down the hall.

Gricelda Mee

Gris smiles, seemingly satisfied with Hyght's answer.  Its all about making a strong first impression.  Bashir changes the focus of the conversation onto the subject of food to which sounded quite appetizing at to her to her considering that she had just came from a strenuous workout before she came to her dorm and found herself two new roommates.  She nods her head in agreement.

"I could do with something to eat... provided that it isn't any sort of vegetable or fruit.  The cafeteria is as good as any other place to grab a bite to eat.  Since the both of you seemed to have only just arrived, I can guide you to the cafeteria since I have been there before."

She gives the two of them a friendly smile, while they were not the roommates she was exactly hoping for, they at least seem like they will get along.  She wasn't really expecting any sort of lasting friendship with either of them but is glad not have another enemy.

"With that, should we begin our trek to cafeteria now?" she states simply, her wolf ears and facial features relax as her tail lays low.

He smiled softly, nodding in agreement. He wondered what the food would be like here, he hadn't tried anything from this place yet. He hopped next to Hyght, before spinning slightly to face Griz. He picled up a small bag on the way out,and his Scroll, just in case. Allowing the others to take the lead, he followed them. Trying his best to memorise the locations of the things he passed on the way; he didn't want to get lost again in the future.

He was glad that people were getting along, the mood having relaxed a little. He looked at his scroll as he walked, before putting it away, unable to figure out what else he was supposed to do with it.

Hyght Briggs

"Yea- oh, hold on." Hyght said quickly as he jogged back to the room. Once inside he slipped the basic blade from his hip and placed it with his pack and shield. "I don't intend to use my sword to cut my food." He muttered jovially as he positioned his pack and weapons by his bed and made his way back out into the hall. Before shutting the door, the young backer checked on the key in his pocket. "Alright. Now we can go." He said as the door closed with a soft click and shuffled to catch up with the two Faunus.

The trio had been walking for a few minutes in a silence so pervasive Hyght had expected crickets to start chirping. "So how long have you been at Syne, Grics?" Hyght asked in hopes to break the silence. He tucked his hands into the pockets of his green hooded sweater as they turned a corner and descended down a flight of steps. The open area the stairs led to was far more alive than any area he had seen since his arrival. "Must be close." He thought aloud at seeing the mass of people. The sea of bodies was impressive, especially with the number of Faunus he could point out. Numerous tall rabbit-like ears bobbed as some Faunus navigated through the mob. He saw multiple students with intricate looking weaponry on their persons. He stared with his mouth open slightly and an unauthorized sound of awe escaped his mouth. "I wonder what parts they used to make it." He muttered unconsciously as his mind began to run with possibilities.

Gris leads her two roommates onwards to the cafeteria, making a left, a another left, couple of rights here and there.  It was mostly between the three of them, which was alright with her.  As they neared the cafeteria, one of them piped up about how long she has been at Syne.  Gris twists her head back just far enough to look at Hyght with the corner of her eye, responding causally:

"Pretty much since the start of the winter break so I have had plenty of time to look around the academy.  This place has its... charm but pales in comparison to a place like Beacon Academy, in both size and grandur.  But at least they feed us well.  Speaking of which-"

Gris jogs to the front doors of a sizable building and opens on of the doors as she chimes

"- here's the cafeteria.  Not sure what they are serving today but everything I have had here is good enough for me to eat!"

Gris then invites herself inside the cafeteria, not bothering to hold the door open for her two teammates as she instinctively makes her way to the food out on display.

Quickly pushing his way through the door, hoping to remove himself from the small crowd, he wasn't used to crowds, he gazed over the cafeteria. The room was fairly large for a normal school cafeteria, but to him it was a little confusing. Following Griz to the queue, he looked out over the selection that was listed in front of him, and was met with a few words alien to him. He looked a little embarrassed at first, but began copying the motions of the people in front of him, picking up a tray, slowly moving forward, before finally asking, "Um...c...could one of you two choose for me? I'm...unfamiliar with these choices..."

The choices in themselves were common to any school, but Bashir hadn't really been anywhere that had served them before. Burgers and Pasta and Cake weren't things that he'd experienced, he'd never really made anything more complex than a stew.

Hyght nodded to Bashir, hearing the obvious uncomfortable uncertainty in his voice. "Do you have any allergies?" He asked and stole a glance around the caffeteria. Impressive. He thought as his eyes drank in the large room. Numerous tables lined the room in rows with a few circular tables on the outskirts of the room. Just like in the entrance hall the lighting was a bit dimmer yet the white walls seemed to reflect the light gently around the room allowing him to see as if the sun were in the rafters of the tall room itself. A look to the ceiling revealed that the roof itself was like a steeple and rose many meters into the air. "Why is this room so tall?" He asked without looking down. He doubted he'd get a answer as Gricelda had raced ahead moments ago.

"Do you have a favorite food, Bash? Perhaps they have so- sorry, didn't see you." He said as someone accidentally bumped into him and wave in apology as they moved past. "But perhaps they have some. I haven't eaten anything but home cooked food my family or I had made ourselves in a long time so this'll be a bit new for both of us. Hell, let's just go take a look and see what makes our mouths water the most. Tonight should be a celebration of sorts." Hyght said as he hooked his thumb to the provided food. "We might want to get there before she eats everything." He teased playfully and winked.

Gricelda was already far far along the line for food to hear either of her teammates responses.  She skiped past the salad and fruit bar went straight for the main course meals.  If they looked up ahead though they could see the mountain of food she is starting to pile up.   It started off as three quadrupedal patty bacon burgers with a side of bacon, then added a bowl of clam chowder with bacon bits, followed by a cutting off a slab of roasted ham so thick it was practically a steak, couple of  fried chicken drumsticks and finishing it off with a loaf of bread and a side of even more bacon.  It was almost impressive that she managed to fit it all onto  single tray!  She strolls her way to the beverage section and only pours herself a large glass of cold water with ice despite the wide variety of drinks available.  She balances her tray of the meat in one hand and holds her glass of ice water in the other as she scans the room for a table for the three of them, spotting a place to sit in the distance.  Gris spins on her heel, her food nearly sliding off as she does so, as looks for her teammates.  Seeing as they are still seemingly at a loss as to what to eat, she hollered to the two of them.

"Don't bother with the salads and just go straight for the burgers and ham slices!  I'm going to claim some seats for us so just look for me when you both figure out what your going to eat now!~"

With that, Gris scampers off to find space for them on one of the tables.  She settles for spot near the end of one of the longer tables with the equally long benches.  As she sits in isolation, she begins to consume one of her fried drumsticks as she waits.

When Chloe received her scroll, she frowned. Technology wasn’t her forte. Not that she didn’t have the capacity to learn to use technology, she just didn’t want to. She was told that the scroll was very important and would be necessary for a bunch of stuff, so Chloe reluctantly planned on learning to use it. She hated the thing already though. It was so… tiny? She had to squint her eyes almost to see the minuscule writings on it. Oh she had a perfect vision, she was a bird faunus, but seriously, how could she… oh, she can make it get bigger if she does that! Ooooh… so weird and unnecessarily complex. She fiddled with it until she managed to close it, having memorised the map to her dorm, and put it in… where would she put that? She didn’t have any pockets on her outfit. Instead, she squeezed it behind her leather belt. That would work for the moment.

After a small walk, she reached the corridor that would lead to her dorm. She saw three persons getting out from one of the room and pass her by. With the rigorous training she had, she was always on guard and took the time to check the out from the corner of her eyes. There was two faunus and apparently a human, but he could be hiding his animal traits too. They didn’t give out much sense of camaraderie so maybe they were reluctant roommates? Or maybe they just met, it was a new semester and there was bound to be bunch of new students. Still, she had memorised their appearance, they seemed to be at the very least close to her dorm so she had to remember them as not being a threat if she saw them around there.

Chloe surprised herself with her thinking. Why was she even thinking of students as a threat here? It’s a secure school; she came here so she didn’t need to sleep with one eye open all the time. She resolved to stop right then and there thinking about people as potential enemies and instead think of them as… potential… friends?... Let’s say potential allies.

Reaching her dorm room, she realised it was the same door the other three people came out of. So they were her roommate? She was glad she memorised them in the end. Entering, she spotted the one bed that didn’t look like it was claimed. She was glad it was the bed on the bottom, that way she would easily be able to stand up in case of an attack and… no! No more fighting mind. Bad Chloe!
Setting up her things on the bed, she cast a last look at her spear, a bit reluctant to leave it behind but she still did, forcing herself. She was suddenly a bit nervous. Her family usually used those moments when she didn’t have her weapon to start a sudden battle training of hell, so not having it meant she was constantly certain she was about to be attacked any at any second. Crazy family…

She headed for the cafeteria, standing in line with her head slightly down. There was a lot of people and she was still somewhat nervous but managed to calm down using rationality. No one would dare attack her in such a crowded place, would they? Shaking that thought out of her head, she picked up her food – about half of it being cheese or cheese-based – and started to look for a table. Everywhere was packed, but she caught sight of the wolf faunus she had seen before, the one who was probably her roommate. Walking to her, she stood beside the girl, a bit nervous about talking at all. She knew her accent would come out, she couldn’t control it yet. “Ehm… Hello. Would that seat beside ye-you be available per chance?” Chloe fidgeted on place, gripping her overflowing trey. She then thought to mention that she was their new roommate, forgetting to hold on her accent. “Oh ehm… I actually saw ye come out of me new room, 143. Appears I’ll be ye new roommate from here on.

"No...I don't have any allergies..." Bashir said, looking over the plethora of foods in front of him. He thought that maybe he should try a whole bunch of things, I mean, they looked different from the food he was used to. Shuffling further up to the queue, he managed to amass a small collection. Taking Gris' advice, he skipped the salads, instead collecting a triangular bready thing with a stringy goo on top, a golden, crispy strip of something... Oh! A few potatoes cut into strips, nearly burned, and one of those stacked bready meat things Griz had gotten.

Carefully inspecting the drinks, he wanted to choose the water, but instead opted to get the almost black, bubbly drink that seemed so popular. It smelled very sugary... Smiling over to Hyght, looking a little proud of himself, he wandered over to the table, sitting down just after the new girl arrives. He didn't say much, but offered one of the seats on the table, "S..sure thing."
