Barziali breathed evenly as he ran, pumping his arms in a steady rhythm as he pounded down the track. He held Ferrum and Fortia in his hands, tightening and relaxing his grip on them, the silver of the weapons occasionally growing brighter as he circulated his aura into them; the pattern matched his breathing, and it was a method he’d found to be very helpful in learning to better control his aura. Many long days had been spent training both his body and his Soul at once, and with every stretch of Finnek Forest he’d sprinted through, every cliff of the mountain range he’d climbed, and every Grimm he’d slain with the tekko in his hands, calling upon his Aura – and in turn, utilizing his Semblance – had become an instinct. But still... there was always room for improvement, and the driving need for more battle experience. Barz rounded the corner, slowing his pace down and jogging off of the track and through the locker room doors. And he knew exactly where he could get it.

Half an hour later Barzilai stood in front of the Training Arena, a sweat rag draped on his shoulders, hanging over the straps of his red, sleeveless A-Shirt. He tightened his hand wraps – white bandages that wound their way up to his forearms – and kicked out the tension in his legs, the baggy pant legs of his gray sweatpants swooshing with the movement and the steel soles of his combat-boots clacking against the pavement, as he paced around the entrance. He’d often make his way here once he’d warmed up from his morning exercise, and wait diligently for any of his classmates to come looking for a sparring partner. And, to Barzilai’s welcome surprise, he’d often get plenty of takers, most all of which were pretty friendly and as eager to train as he was. To Barz, this was the perfect way to feel more… social, as it were: not only would he get to meet and square off against people with varying backgrounds, fighting styles and weapon masteries, but he’d also get to (hopefully) laugh along with them about how the fight went afterwards.

Barzilai smiled and stretched one last time before going to lean against the steps leading up to the Arena, where he then crossed his arms lightly, his eyes scanning the passing students eagerly as he dexterously twirled Ferrum and Fortia in his hands. “Hmm… I wonder who’ll be first today…?”

A resounding echo could be heard within the training hall. Luckily, there was also a boxing ring there for the unarmed variety. Pearl and several other classmates were already doing a type of 'training' themselves. They had been alternating in contact sparring for quite some time. Once it was Pearl's turn, she had been in rotation for about 8 bouts, slamming down with authority left and right with only slight variations. Students just simply exclaiming their various comments about her moxie as she slammed another one of their team members to the mat creating the previous raucous that echoed around the training arena. She drew a slight crowd without meaning to as she just kept up her kind facial expression the entire endeavor while besting two of Syne's teams in single combat.

As soon as the boy began groaning and rubbing his head in pain, Pearl ran over and crouched over offering a hand. "Good fight love." she stated before helping the boy up, he was a bit sore but swallowed his pride like the rest as they began to just simply converse. She aided them with their stances and overall unarmed combat. Afterwards, she ran over to ropes of the arena to look onto the other students. Pearl came clearly ready to train, her triple pony tail style to keep her mane out of her face while revealing her extensively pierced ears was just the beginning. She was also wearing finger-less ebony gloves to match her starless sleeveless top. Sported with provoking short shorts which snugged tightly around her ample hips and legs, which compensated for her lack of a renown bosom. Resting along her throat, of course, was her normal black collar that she could always be found wearing. She kept her sword and armor ring side as she motioned over to another student with a joyous look wondering if she could get a water bottle. She snatched it out the air after he lobbed it, hungrily quenching her thirst.

Barzilai sighed, rolling his shoulders and straightening up. It had been almost an hour and still no sign of a sparring partner… was he scaring people away? He took a swig from his water bottle and dropped to do some pushups, trying to keep limber. Surely it’d only be a matter of ti-

An echoing thud stopped him mid-push. Wait, what was that-

Boom! Barzilai hopped to his feet, his head turning to the Training Arena. Were there people already inside? He pushed through the large double doors and walked down the hallway. Moments later he came out into the bleachers, just as another thud sounded through the arena. But this time, it was completely apparent what was making it: down below and to the right a small crowd was surrounding the boxing ring. Some were cheering, others booing, there was a team of huntsman-in-training moaning and groaning on the bench beside the ring. And in said ring, standing over the body of another fallen fighter, was a girl with wild golden hair. She was facing away from him, grabbing at a water bottle that had been tossed to her. Then she turned, and Barz could see her pierced ears, black choker and the hint of fangs glistening in her mouth as she drank. Was that…

“Pearl!” Barz strode down the bleachers, adjusting his wrapping and grinning from ear to ear. He made it to the ring in seconds, planted a foot on an empty bench and vaulted over the ropes, landing lightly in the ring. “Just who I wanted to see. You up for sparring?”

While talking to her opponent she heard her name through the usual pandemonium of the training halls during peak hours. Water bottle still in hand as she turned brushing some blonde locks out of her face. She smiled as she saw a familiar face, waving with her other hand. "Aww man! What's up dude~" she said closing her eyes in excitement. She hadn't seen him since their last mission, (which he was late too) but nonetheless it was nice to have him there. She threw her fist up to him for a quick fist bump as he would enter the ring.

"Not late to anything I'd assume love." she'd tease a bit seeing he was a tad sweaty himself. Some of the other students were gawking at them both as they did look completely different. For a lion faunus even a femme one, Pearl was pretty much an averaged sized woman, except her muscles and tone gave a much different story. Pearl was quite strong for her size, built like an Mixed Martial arts fighter through and through. Where as Mr. Solos was built like a football linebacker for his age, being quite thick with massive amounts of muscles.

As soon as her friend offered to spar she began to grin almost ear to ear as she has been pumped all day. A few of the other students exclaimed that 'another one would bite the dust' but she just looked back and hushed them quickly. "Hey! Just cause you guys lost doesn't mean he will~" she said with a playful smirk before looking back to Barzilai and down his form letting out a contented sigh. "Always ready, hand to hand or weapons?" she asked before walking past him to go rest in the corner of the ring with all her gear depending on his answer. She could feel her blood rushing, her musk and pheromones began kicking in from the excess exercise but she wasn't complaining. Anything to keep the blood pumping.

Barz returned the fist bump, laughing as he got a closer look at the ring. He’d actually never been in one before, and the slight springiness of the otherwise firm mat felt interesting. He bounced around a bit on the balls of his feet, shifting his weight and testing the surface. Not bad, not bad.

Nothing much, Pearl, just keeping active. And nope, I was just runnin’, heh…” Aww man. Barz face palmed on the inside. How long was THAT one going to stick with him? He rubbed the back of his head as he looked the lion faunus up and down. This was the first he’d seen of her outside of her usual combat gear, and he wasn’t surprised to see her perfect posture and well defined muscle tone: she was a fighter, after all, and an excellent one at that.

It was then that he heard people snickering, something about biting the dust. He cocked his head, listening, and sure enough he could make out whispers coming from all around the ring, most every one of them declaring he’d lose in varying degrees of embarrassing ways. Well, tough crowd. But he wouldn’t say anything: he was the type to let his actions do the real talking. He was surprised when Pearl stood up for him though, shooting down his dissenters as they spoke up. They’d only worked together once before, and yet she was still being so nice… He smiled at her apparent faith in his abilities. Well… there was no way he could disappoint her now.

“Mmm, how about both? If you’re up to it, I mean. We can start with hand-to-hand and go from there.” Barzilai walked calmly over to the opposite corner, cracking his knuckles before turning around and leaning on the post, his arms outstretched to rest on the ropes, a sly grin on his face. The smell of sweat and… something else he couldn’t quite put his finger on filled the whole ring. But whatever it was, it got his heart racing. This? This would be fun.

Pearl's blood was on fire and anyone who could see the silvery glint in her eyes could tell as they shined brightly. She twirled her head from side to side, waving the hair from her face keeping the same grin along her face as she leaned her entire boy back with a faint stretch. "Only if you think you can keep up love." There was an air of pure confidence from her before her predatory orbs shot back at the man. "We'll go from there then..." she trailed off and purred before shooting out of the corner with blistering speed.

She wasted no time in obtaining the initiative as her fighting style was always to set the pace. Her auric strands waving behind her as the wind was hitting her face from how fast she sprinted over to him with her powerful legs and thighs. She used her momentum to catch herself in front of him, sliding as she did before firmly planting her leg down as to rotate her body weight from her ankles and shoulders to launch two devastating hooks aiming for his jaw, left then right.

Immediately followed by a left body blow aiming for the kidneys and keeping a preemptive high guard with her right arm as her argent eyes stared at his movements from under her arm. Her form was immaculate, almost scarily precise from years of intense training, almost anyone who was practiced in combat could see that she was trained with extensive combat training. Pearl would waste no time, as she immediately rose her back right leg aiming for his rib cage after her flurry. Her flexibility and balance was definitely inhuman, she was taking advantage of her Faunus balance and dexterity as she balanced most of her weight on one leg during her barrage of attacks.

Barzilai’s eyes narrowed as Pearl dashed towards him, covering the distance between them in a mere moment. Geez, she was fast, almost scarily so. But, thankfully, he was ready for her; Barz brought his hands up, one in front of the other, palms facing inward and his fingers slightly curled, before stepping in to meet Pearl’s forward rush, giving him the space needed to rock his head backwards and narrowly avoid her hooks. He then planted his back foot and raised his other leg in that same motion, using his superior reach to plant a quick mid-kick in her abdomen, aiming to push the lioness backwards and interrupt her body blow. Barzilai would then lean forward, shuffle-stepping inwards and to the right to dodge Pearl’s back knee, before hooking his left leg around and planting his foot behind hers.

“Sorry, Pearl,” Barz taunted as he twisted his body, moving to shove his forearm into her chest, latch onto her left arm, just above the elbow, and scoop upwards with his front leg at the same time. If he was successful he would have pulled off an impromptu back-leg trip, utilizing his and Pearl’s forward momentum to lift her off of her feet and slam her down into the mat, before hopping backwards to let her get up. “But you’ll have to try a little harder than that, okay?”

Pearl anticipated some sort of reaction but for a big guy he definitely had some speed to him, but not as much as she did. She watched as he effortlessly weaved and rocked his head backwards to avoid her first two hooks, as his kick came out she could see he rocked into his forward kick and as such she forfeited her liver blow to deflect his leg with her hand watching as he stepped into her to avoid the knee. He clearly had hand-hand technique that was on par with her overall combat prowess from just his footwork, but she could see that we was stiff.

As his leg hooked around the leg Pearl's weight was on and heard his aforementioned taunt. It was clear to her what he was going for and she felt the slightest bit insulted, he would attempt to trip a faunus, a lion faunus at that. whether it be muscle memory or years of his training she growled lightly as she felt the moment his muscles tightened when he shoved his forearm into her chest. He doubted her dexterity.

Pearl hooked her arm around his, hugging it to her breasts, considering he was placing his weight against her chest for perform the take down this was unavoidable. Using her able-bodied leg, she took a small jump with her left leg to dodge the incoming sweep, fully extending and shooting out her right leg to catch the turnbuckle. Preventing his body weight alone to push her to the mat. Pearl, without skipping a beat, used the turn buckle and the aforementioned momentum to swing herself around his arm, like a makeshift wall run, looping around his head and back with a ridiculous amount of speed, placing her hands along his back and shoulders to vault herself to the corner next to his as he leaned down to perform the O Soto Gari.

She landed on top of the turnbuckle in the kneeling position before rising up and narrowing her stone colored eyes at him. Pearl rose her left hand at him motioning for him to bring it on as her other hand balled up in a fist resting along her hip with a smirk, almost naturally posting as her blonde strands fell over her shoulders, her mane slowly coming out of their ties.

"You insult me love."  she said coyly but with a playful tone, it was clear she was enjoying herself and her hands, despite being in a battle were quite soft. Barzilai could probably swear that she massaged his back slightly. Some of the students began talking among themselves on how he just attempted the same move that took him down, clearly it was a move that Pearl was quite familiar with.

Barzilai swept his leg backwards, confident in his ability to take down Pearl. Sure she was fast, but at this angle and with so little room to maneuver, it’d be almost impossible to-. He stopped short as the lithe lion faunus hooked his forearm, pulling him into her chest, and hopped slightly. The movement was subtle, just enough to avoid his reaping trip, but with that she was free from underneath his body and stretched out against the ropes. At that point it was too late for Barzilai to move: he’d already committed to the throw, and with Pearl’s newfound leverage he couldn’t follow through with it. So he could do nothing but brace his legs as the girl flipped around, using his own back and shoulders like a springboard to leap across the ring and land on the corner post next to his. Wow… And did she just…?

Barzilai straightened up and turned around, not so much upset as he was disappointed in himself. Pearl was crouched with a playful, smirking expression, gesturing for him to come on, but he could see the gentle tensing in her muscles, and the calculating look in her eye. She was waiting for him to make a move, it seemed. Hmm… Barzilai took a step back, judging the distance between them… and crossed his arms, returning Pearl’s playful smirk with one of his own. She could have the pace all she wanted; it wasn’t like him to rush ahead, really. “I apologize, Dear, as it wasn’t my intention to disappoint you. But I assure you, I won’t be so lenient next time."

She hopped down from the turnbuckle eyeing him slowly with the same excited look on her face as she just kept smiling to herself before pacing around the ring. She wanted to keep him in the corner as long as possible. If he was alright giving her all this room she wasn't going to deny it. She paced directly in front of him, before coming to a stop. "If you're taking it easy on me love, don't. I don't want any favors." she purred at him while rising her head up, her silvery orbs gleaming at him as she looked down her chin toward him, before she broke off in a sprint directly at him.

Closing the gap in a second she planted her feet to stop herself just before his kick range and immediately dashed to the right, stepping in with thunderous speed. She would reveal her hand speed to be much more formidable as Pearl launched a quick one-two left and right jab directly towards his ear and temple.

She angled her legs as an outboxer would, before using her blistering speed to dash to the left immediately launching another one-two, this time aiming for his jaw for a clean knock out if he dodged or blocked to the right. Pearl's aggressive style coupled with her agility was smothering and she knew her best chance to win was to prevent him from running or dodging. She wanted to keep him in the corner and she wasn't going to let him out while she continued her barrage of attacks.

Barzilai watched Pearl’s movements carefully, eyeing with appreciation the lion faunus’s relaxed, yet guarded stride. Honestly, he wasn’t underestimating her; with her speed and dexterity, he figured his best shot was a counter attack and that’s why he was insisting on giving he the room to move first. He raised his hands lightly, his silver gaze matching her pacing, until… Pearl rushed forward, faster than before. Barzilai instinctively stepped in, once again trying to give himself space, expecting another frontal assault. But the lioness was upon him in a mere moment, planting her feet and then sidestepping to his left, a move which confirmed Barz’s initial impression of her; someone who could efficiently change up their tactics on the fly was most definitely a trained and experienced fighter.

But then again, so was he.

Barzilai planted his front foot, pivoting on it and swinging his body backwards just in time to avoid Pearl’s twin jabs. But the lioness was moving with him, displaying incredible agility as she came around to his right with two more jabs, this time aiming for his jaw. Barz was still in motion, however, and as he finished his pivot he kicked backwards with his right leg, aiming for Pearl’s chest before bending his front knee and rolling sideways, towards the center of the ring. He quickly popped back up, turning on the balls of his feet and lashing out with a sweep kick, aiming to topple Pearl if she had rushed in to continue her assault, before straightening up and hopping back fully into the middle of the ring.

Barzilai’s eyes flashed brighter, hands up and breathing evenly. There was no time for a witty comeback at the moment; This was serious.

Pearl assumed the counter attack was coming and was simply feeling him out with her multitude of jabs and it seemed he took the bait as she was going to keep this unrelenting pace without letting up or fully committing. Her excited grin was almost permanently plastered on her face while her silvery orbs flashed at each of his movements, noticing his swaying movements and shimmies to avoid her attacks. It was clear that his unarmed prowess was superior to her in terms of tactics, but she was confident enough in her raw ability to just keep up the pressure. A playful almost even, joyous growl could be heard as he launched his back kick toward her. She simply would jump backwards using her agility and then immediately leap forward to keep him the corner, deftly avoiding his attack but as she stepped forward the man rolled toward the middle of the ring. She sucked her teeth at her own frustration as she gave him the space necessary to get out of the corner.

Her orbs followed him as he rolled, knowing his vision was impaired she used this opportunity to launch herself over where his body was going to be, going directly into a tumble behind him. His sweep would be at the air and as soon as she came to her feet she would twist and aim a swift kick toward the back of his knee and then using the extra momentum to leap up to launch a combo'd roundhouse kick toward his head with her other leg. Both hands flying directly in front of her as she maintained proper form, raising her knee to propel herself up into the air, her balance was immaculate. Both of these attacks were coming from behind his form at a brisk pace, as she knew she had the speed advantage and would just keep up the pressure and attempt to put him back into the corner. Her honey sweet musk slowly becoming apparent as crystalline droplets of sweat began to show on her arms as she was exerting a high octane amount of energy. Her face being that of a child having a great time as her glee could be seen vividly. If these kicks were to land, they'd have no strength behind them, mostly just love taps, this was just purely a spar afterall.

The other kids watched on in awestruck silence as another students was finally able to stand toe to toe with Pearl's speed and flexibility, but if this continued it would come to a battle of stamina and speed. It was clear that she clearly had the dexterity battle over him but he had much more experience in hand to hand combat, most of her attacks coming from natural instinct still had a wild side to them even if it was clear that her attacks had their own adept amount of experience. The crowd now which was only a few students began to grow into a third of the currently patrons in the training arena.
