Gricelda Mee

Gricelda Mee
Gricelda stands in the middle of the combat arena, practicing her swings against some imaginary foe in front of her.  She was already clad in her white and green combat outfit.  She lets out grunt with each swing, her fleet feet  changing stance and position after each strike.  Suddenly, a sound is picked off behind her.  Her lupine ears twitch, her body halts as her head jerks to see the person approaching behind her.  Gris then grins happily to see that it is none other than her roommate, Chloe. Gricelda takes a step forward, her wolf-like tail wagging every so slightly behind her as she looks up to her roommate with her golden hued irises.

"Ah... there you are!  Glad to see you took me up on my offer.  I assume your all ready for our little spar?  Or... was there something else you need to do first?" inquires the wolf faunus, who looks to be itching for a fight as he swings her axe on to rest on her right shoulder.

The armored girl entered the arena with a confident step. It’s not like it was something unusual for her to look confident, it’s not like she was shy or anything. Still, when it came to fighting, that was one thing she was very confident into. Now she wouldn’t call herself a god level fighter or even an excellent fighter, but definitely a good fighter. Her main advantage over others was purely and simply experience and reflexes… even if the way she obtained that experience and those reflexes wasn’t necessarily a happy memory… Well, no pain no gain as they say!... But still too much pain in her opinion.

Standing in front of Gricelda, Chloe appraised her equipment. That hatchet looked pretty basic but it was well built, so with the aura flowing through it, it wouldn’t break. As rudimentary as it was, Chloe couldn’t help but agree with it. She didn’t like technology much and she felt the more there was moving parts, the more fragile the weapon would become as it would add more weak points. Added to that, she was a traditionalist of sort, something she got from her family of mercenaries. That was why her spear was basically just one 90 kilograms solid piece of metal with a removable spearhead for easier replacing and maintenance. Yes, the spear was heavier than she was and she still handled it like it weighted nothing.

She frowned at the shield. Not that it looked like a bad item, but she knew enough about metals to be able to guess their composition at a glance. She wouldn’t be able to give a 100% accurate description without actually touching the metal, but it she was still pretty certain the metal wasn’t made to handle physical attacks. So while she could see the shield was a good one, it might be a hindrance to her in this spar more than anything. She lightly shrugged, maybe she had other uses for it, only her wielder would know.

Smiling at her roommate, the green haired girl planted the butt of her weapon in the ground and lightly leaned on it. “Heya! I hope ya’re ready for this. Is yer shield yer only armor? It ain’t lookin’ like it would protect ya much from hits, so if it’s yer only protection, I’ll take off me armor, more fair.

Gricelda Mee

Gris raises her eyebrow, cocking her head slightly. She looks down to Razorwind, turning her shield arm slight to better inspect it. Chloe's natural intuition was correct... in a battle of pure brawn her magical dust enhance shield was ill suit for this sort of bout.

"Hrmmm... your right I suppose. Alright, no armor then... that includes your helmet now." stats the wolf girl, a smirk just as she finishes speaking.

Gris rolls her her shoulders, letting her axe fall to the ground with a distinct thunk. With her now free hand, she undoes the latches the keeps the shield attached to her left forearm. Once released, she places it gently along the backwall of the training arena. She then hastily jobs her way back to her previous position and collects her axe with her right hand. She keeps her weapon relaxed against her side, staring at her roommate with great intensity.

"Alright alright, ready now. I guess we will both have to rely on our own aura and natural consitution to protect us. So... let me know when your prepared now. And no holding back now... I call you out on it."

Chloe nodded at her roommate’s words and rolled her eyes at the helmet comment before removing it. At the moment, no one was paying attention to them so removing her helmet didn’t bother her much. She was sure part of Gricelda’s insistence on it was curiosity about her feathers so there, she showed it. She had some bronze colored feathers among her hair. They still had a greenish tint to them, getting greener the further back they were before disappearing entirely under her long hair. Since they were concentrated around the top of her head they were easy to hide with her helmet or… a handy blue bandana!

With a smirk, Chloe took out a royal blue cloth from under her belt and tied it so it covered the top of her head. She made sure it was tight and secured enough to not loosen during the fight. She started undoing her armor plate while looking at her sparring partner. “Yea, Semblance is allowed too. As fer holdin’ back… Even if I wanted, I ain’t able to do it. Me family are the only ones I fought till now other than Grimms and they’re monsters themselves, so I’ve always fought as hard as I could’ve. ‘nyway, no worries ove’ that. Ya better be prepared though, I ain’t gonna stop just cause ya said ‘owie’.

Chloe dropped her armor near a bench with a very loud thud, a testimony that just like her spear, the armor was freakishly heavy. It’s not like removing it made her faster or anything, that only happens in those picture stories kids love. The weight was simply cause she used the strongest metal she could forge to make it, which happened to be very heavy. It did help her build her endurance and stuff at first, but now that she got used to it, having it off just felt somewhat like something was missing. She spent enough time without it that she wasn’t weirded out by the sudden lack of extra weight or needed time to acclimate to the change, jumping on place a few times was enough for that.

Taking her spear, she walked in front of Gricelda. She did a few spins, not to show off but just to get a feel of the effect of the spear’s weight on her balance. Having her armor off did actually change something in the fact that handling her weapon that was heavier than herself had the additional effect that some more aggressive moves would force her body to move to follow the spear’s momentum. Her armor sort of served also as an anchor to keep her firmly on the ground when she wanted to stay on the ground. But it was fine, she knew how to manage this, she often was forced to fight with her armor off by her family so she had a specific fighting style in those occasions.

The butt of her spear again planted firmly on the ground, she wondered how this was going to go. “So, any special rules ta this spar? I ain’t ever used the scroll thingy for a fight so am not sure how ta say when ta stop other than either of us gettin’ unconscious or yieldin’.

Gricelda Mee

Gricelda Mee
A smile curls on Griscelda's face, clearly pleased that she is removing her helmet.  Gris however... looked strangely puzzled as she as tries to make out the feathers from the hair.  Almost anyone would see that the bronze feathers would stand out from the greenish hair but to Gris... she could not make that distinction due to her colorblindness.  To her... Chloe mess of hair and feather was some sort of yellowish-brown shade.  She could only make out the difference as the feathers appears to be a somewhat darker shade than the hair... or at least she thinks she can.  But Gris had little time to appreciate her plumage as Chloe quickly wrapped the top of her head with a blue bandanna.  Gris opens her mouth and almost protested but snaps her mouth shut as Chloe speaks to her while removing her own armor.  Gris listens to her, then smiles and nods to Chloe.

"Hee... I wouldn't have it any other way~" merrily chimes Gricelda

Gris watches at Chloe strips the remaining heavy armor, allowing her to admire her roommate's form.  She didn't spot any additional avian features on her roommate, which seemed to frustrate Gris a little at she was still uncertain if Chloe had feathers or not!  Well, she know where they were but she couldn't make then out which was still bugging her!  Her curiosity would have to remain in the back of her mind as Chloe now stands in front of her and inquires the details of spar.

"Ah... well... we can have our scrolls track our aura and overall health.  Usually there would be referee would would notice whenever one of our aura levels lies too low or our sustained a critical injury.  In this case... we can just have the settings set off an alarm whenever one of us is no longer fit combat I think."

Gris then takes out her scroll and brings up a menu, pressing and fiddling with buttons until...

"Like... there!  See what I did?  I can do it for you if its still... too unfamiliar for you.  We could do it the old fashion way and we butt heads until one of use yields to the other.  Up to you really." states the wolf faunus with a toothy grin.

Chloe had taken her scroll out and tried to follow Gricelda as she showed her how to set it for detecting their aura levels and health status. She frowned a bit as things became a bit more complicated but still tried to press where the wolf faunus did at the same time. Once she was done and asked if Chloe saw what she did, the green haired girl looked at her scroll and frowned. “Ehm… I tried doin’ what ya did. Now I got a video tellin’ how ta knit slippers for cats… I’m guessin’ that ain’t normal?

The bird faunus showed her scroll to Gricelda and scratched the back of her head in slight confusion. She was bad with technology, mostly from lack of use since she didn’t like it, but she knew she had to learn to use those scrolls thingies for her stay here so might as well start now. “Well… For now, if ya could do it for me it’d be nice, But could ya show me again ‘nother time?

Taking a few steps back to her starting spot, the spear user started to warm up a bit, waiting for the other girl to finish setting up the scroll. She lazily made a few swiped with her spear, making sure she was used to the weight of it without her armor to anchor her to the ground. She had a serious look on her face, but her mouth could be seen twitching into the beginning of a smile. She was excited since she was finally fighting someone of her relative level instead of one of her family member that could easily wipe the floor with her while reading a book.

Once everything was set up, Chloe took a stance. She was standing with her right foot slightly forward to keep her weight on her left leg. The weapon was behind her diagonally, the blunt end resting on the ground while the tip showed over her left shoulder. She was holding it with her right arm, her left was at her side. Her eyes were sharp and she was ready, waiting for the signal, but decided to try and rile her up a bit, smirking as she did.

Whenever ya’re ready, Wolfie!

Gricelda Mee

Gris snickers as her roommate struggles with the use of her school.  She snatches the scroll from Chloe, exiting to the home page, selecting a few pop-up buttons, then initiating the proper set-up.

"And... there we go.  You will get used your scroll in time but I will be there whenever you need help with it in the future." speaks the wolf faunus, who then lazily tosses the scroll of the the sidelines.

"Anyway, it will make a noticeable beeping noise like an alarm clock the moment you no longer fit to fight.  As will mine." she states as she tosses her own scroll effortlessly to the other side of the arena.  Gris takes a few steps away from Chloe, rolls her shoulders and spins on her heel to face Chloe.  She visablily frowns when Chloe calls her "wolfie".  Had Chloe been a human should would have lectured her... harshly as to why not to call her that.  But since she was a faunus as well, she was more forgiving that she would have otherwise been.

"... Chloe... don't ever call me Wolfie ever again.  I grew up with humans putting me down as they taunted with me with their cutesy names like "Wolfie", "Wolfgirl", or my personal favorite, "Wolf Bitch".  Just call me by my name or some variation of it."  states Gricelda as so matter-of-factly, sounding a bit sarcasic when mentioning her unflattering nickname "Wolf Bitch".  She clears her voice and readies her stance, eye her opponent from a distance.

"Alright well if you say your ready then... three... two..." counts the wolf faunus, but stead of counting down to 1, Gricelda suddenly dashes forward as she activates her semblance to propel her forwards to her opponent on the wrong foot.

"ONE!" she exclaimed as she goes for the initiative.  Gris starts the confrontation with a crippling strike onto Chloe's left shin, following up the initial swing with two powerful cleaving hatchet strikes to Chloe's torso region.

Once again, Chloe tried and failed to follow the wolf faunus movements on the device, trying to memorise it. Why was it so hard for her? It looked so easy in her hands but to her, it made almost no sense. First of all, how did this device even know her aura levels? She couldn’t even come up with a guess as to how it managed that. Still, she nodded gratefully at her roommate who promised to help her when she needed help and at her explanation on the way it will tell them when one of them isn’t fit for fighting.

Apparently, her attempt to rile her up only half worked. She was right in assuming she wouldn’t like the cutesy name she gave her, but she wanted her to be angry, not hurt by it. It was Chloe’s turn to frown at her explanation for why she didn’t like the name. She actually felt somewhat bad about it but it’s not like she could have known, so she didn’t let it bother her. Now she knew, so she would not use these kind of names again. She nodded her understanding as she waited for her sparring partner to get ready.

On the count down, Chloe slightly bent her knees to prepare for her first move, her face completely serious. She wasn’t taken off-guard by Gricelda dashing slightly early. In a way, Chloe is always ready to fight, even while eating or appears to be distracted, so someone taking the initiative wasn’t something that would surprise her. What did surprise her, was the wind that shot the wolf faunus toward her faster than she expected. Her heavy spear resting on the ground, she sidestepped sideway to the other side of it in an attempt to catch the blow with her weapon instead of her body. This move would have worked if she had moved slightly earlier, but she didn’t expect this immediate an attack so the hatchet still hit her behind the leg as she was mid step. Her aura shielded the blow but she could still feel it; it was a strong hit.

So she was a strong, agile type wind user. That made the spear wielder smirk for a second, but she was quickly back to her focused appearance. What were the chances that her first sparring partner would also be a wind user? The moment she realised those facts, she was attacked twice more toward her torso area. She quickly moved her spear in front of her, using the ground to carry the weight while she simply shifted the long weapon in a different angle. The first of the two strikes hit the shaft of the spear, creating sparks from the metals grinding, the last one was dodged by a backward step, putting her spear at arm’s length between the two fighters.

With her foot, Chloe kicked up the butt of her spear from the ground, raising the weapon to a horizontal position, switching hands at the same time so the left one was holding the spear near the tip. The ex-mercenary then quickly swung the weapon to hit her opponent with the blunt end in her side. Hit or not, the momentum the weapon made her do a full spin.

During this spin, she altered the weapon’s motion, bringing it to her right side. The spear slid through her loosened grip from the momentum straight toward Gricelda as Chloe finished her spin with her left arm outstretched and holding the weapon at the very end of it for maximum extension.

As strong as she is, the weight of the weapon would sooner make her lighter frame tilt forward than allow her to pull it back, so the bird faunus knew she couldn’t do that without her armor. Instead, she used it to set up her next two attacks. She let the tip fall on the ground and started running toward it. The weapon stood on the tip and buried itself a little in the ground from the weight itself. This allowed Chloe to use it like a pole and spin around it to deliver a kick with both feet together in whichever direction Gricelda ended up after the previous attack.

Even if the kick didn’t land, the move was enough to make the spear fall forward toward Chloe’s position after landing. Using the gravity pull on the shaft to help accelerate the spear, she used her left hand to send another piercing attack toward her opponent’s torso with the blunt end, dragging the tip on the ground doing so.

Gris cant help but grin when the first strike connected with her daring dash.  Chloe was caught unprepared but Gris was still impressed by quickly Chloe recovered as she deftly deflected her follow up attacks.  Now this was going to be a REAL FIGHT!  Gris eyes narrow as she lowered her body to a crouch, the blunt of her spear brushing over her set of lupine ears on the top of her.  While uncomfortable as her eats flopped and bent in the direction the the spears movement, she was otherwise unharmed.

As Gris pulls herself back upright, Chloe appears to be charging straight at her.  In response rolls to her right side to avoid Chloe's initial piecing strike but as she looks up crouched on the ground, her eyes widen and mouth slightly agasp as she Chloe extends her legs for a mid air kick.  Gris was helpless to avoid Chloe's boots from implanting themselves right on her face, the impact sending the lighter wolf faunus rolling backwards a few feet.  Gris only manages prevent herself rolling back any further as she slams her hatchet head mid-roll into the ground, the metal biting itself to the floor until the friction it produced finally put an end to her momentum as she is once again in a crouching position.  Gricelda shakes her her head, her vision momentary fuzzy from the impact of the kick before looking back up to her sparring partner.

Chloe proved herself to be relentless as she the next thing Gris sees is the blunt end of the spear rapidly approaching her face.  Instinctively she  holds out her palms, her arms making a 45 degree angle from the ground, and out comes torrent wind that propels her backwards to safety and buffeting Chloe with a forceful gale.  As she was propelled backwards, she manages to stumble herself upright.  The wolf faunus pants heavily but takes, advantage of the second calm of catch her breath.  After panting a bit, she exhales one last warm breath of air before she leers to Chloe sternly.

Gris grips onto her Grizzy Cutter and approaches her roommate slowly first.  Her walking pace however erupts to a full blown sprint.  As Gris closes the distance, she moves her free left fore arm in front of her face, then jerks it suddenly to her left as if she was pulling some unseen object.  Just as Gris made that motion, a powerful torrent of wind slams into Chloe on her right side with enough force to make the ordinary man fall onto his feet.  Chloe of coarse was no common humanoid and she was counting on that.  A moments distraction was that she needed as she leaped herself into the air.

As the winds died down, the grinning wolf girl was in mid-leap, holding her hatchet overhead with both of her hands.  She falls, she slams down with great force as she aims to cleave at her sparring partner in the region where her neck and collar bone meet.

As she lands in front of Chloe after the two handed cleave, she slides her right hand near the up the shaft of her hatchet until hand runs just under the steel head itself to allow herself more nimble and faster strikes even if it was at the expense of a little bit of power.   Then then grasps onto Chloe's spear with her free left hand and raises her now now raised axhead to lock itself on the shaft of Chole's spear.  There was a sly smirk on her face as she looks up to Chloe.  Gris pupils straight into her eyes, then Gris preditory pupil wander to one of Chole's hands holding onto the spear before looking back up to Chloe once again, as if she was announcing her intention as she continues to wear that smug smile.  Her eyes once again dart one of the hands holding the spear and slides her axhead along the length of Chole's spear as it quickly approuchings slides its way into Chole's unprotected hands.  There is a screeching sound of metal being emmit as the axhead slides along the spears length and into Chloe's hand.

Wether Chole moved her hand to avoid the hit or held firm didn't matter as she used the moment to release her hold on the spear and slink around Chole's left side to get around her and go for a quick cut to her backside before distances herself from Chloe as she expects rightful retaliation.

Chloe was happy that her sparring partner avoided most of her strikes, she was good! The issue with her upbringing was that she was always either facing someone much stronger than her, or someone much weaker. She never got any opponent that was roughly on her level before, so she was pretty happy that her roommate seemed to be. Still, there was no time for rejoicing on that fact. When fighting, Chloe is generally in a sort of focused trance. She look serious and is reacting half by reflex, half voluntarily, to most openings she can see, ignoring those she guess to be feints or traps. What this meant, was that she gave no chances and took every opportunities while being extremely difficult to distract in any way.

As soon as she finished her last move, she was assaulted by wind, preventing her from chaining with another attack and forcing her on a defensive pose. Chloe is a pretty acrobatic fighter, especially without armor since she moves using her spear’s momentum and weight more than she moves the spear itself, but the usual surprise effect was used and she only got her kick in from it. Gricelda adapted very fast to her moves and even if it had been luck, which she doubted it was, she now knew of how she moved. She couldn’t count on the effect of surprise again.

She had two options to consider in this split second moment: Keeping up the charge and follow after the currently still airborne Gricelda, or go defensive. She chose defensive in the end since she knew the wind user could push herself away using wind like she did before, leaving the bird faunus open after a full failed charge. Also, she needed to see her opponents fighting style more.

Seeing the hatchet wielding fighter run toward her, Chloe prepared herself for a frontal attack, but was surprised by the gust of wind coming at her. It ever so briefly put her off balance before she dragged the butt of her spear on the ground opposite of her to help keep herself upright. She saw the cleave coming but knew she wasn’t in the best position to dodge. Instead, she crouched down with her spear across the back of her neck. The cleave hit the spear as planned but it was too strong to block it entirely, Chloe still feeling the hit from the force transmitting from the strike to her spear in her neck. Still, was better than a cleave… probably…

She got up from her position, switched behind her spear and was about to attack when Gricelda grabbed her weapon. She saw the hit coming from miles away, since she clearly telegraphed it. She seemed to be having fun with it, but that just told Chloe of her intention and made it easy to avoid. She wanted to hold her spear? Fine by her, she simply removed both her hands from it and side stepped instantly as wolf faunus tried to cut her in the back, avoiding the hit.

Even if Gricelda wasn’t holding the spear anymore, Chloe still kicked it toward her with as much force as she could. The weight of it didn’t prevent it from lifting off the ground and speeding toward the wold faunus. If she was still holding it, the bladed tip would hit her in the face, if not, it would fly toward her with as much force as if she threw it.

Following behind her weapon, she grabbed it on the way close to the blade and used her own built up momentum to transfer it to her weapon and shove the blade once more toward her opponent’s stomach. Hit or not she brought it back up while spinning on herself for a blunt strike to the side of Gricelda’s head, followed by a roundhouse kick to the head with her spin.

While Gricelda had long let go of the spear and was already prepped to avoid the first of Chloe’s many attacks against her, Gricelda still find herself a hair’s breadth away only just able to avoid Chloe’s spear being kicked right into her direction.  Chloe quickly picked up her weapon and resumed her barrage of attacks.  Gricelda’s fleet feet allow her to move herself out the way of the bladed end of her weapon but was unprepared for the follow-up strike across her head.  She nearly falters from the blow but manages to hold out her hands to unleased a gust wind right in front of her to both of them pushing the both of them just ever so much that Gris doesn’t receive a second blow to her noggin.

Gricelda rubs the side of her head where she was struck, her head still ringing from the blow.  Gricelda looks up to her avian warrior friend across from her.  Gricelda knew that she herself was going to be one the disadvantage of this rowdy bout but it’s now becoming ever so apparent how poor of a match-up it really was for her.  Sure Gris prided herself in her own resilience but she knew that she could not afford to take further blows like that.  Even if she was to lose she still wanted to put on her best show.

Gricelda brushes back a dangle hair in front of her eyes, then once more charges at her opponent as she extends her hatchet bearing arm over her head.  As she approaches, the wolf faunus suddenly falls to the ground and purposely skids across the floor.  While sliding, Gricelda holds out her hatchet outwards in order to Chloe’s vulnerable shins.  As she slides just past Chloe, she rights herself into a crouch, then leaps from the ground towards Chloe’s backside.  As her feathered friend turns to face her, she would witness Gricelda bringing down her hatchet for a vertical cleave.

"Hurraaa!!" shouts Gricelda as she swings with all of her might.

In whatever manner Chloe reacted to her attack, Gricelda extends her left hand to grab onto Chloe’s long hair on the right side of her head upon her feet making contact with the ground.  Gricelda quickly wraps a bundle of hair around her left palm, clutches her hand, then yanks on Chloe’s hair hard as she it straight down.  As she does so, she simultaneously goes for cheeky jab to the side of Chloe’s left abdomen with a quick swing of her hatchet in her right hand.  Gricelda wears a twisted wry smirk on her face as she does do.  Hair pulling was underhanded perhaps, but she favored such tactics during her experience with the White Fang as they are good way to bring any fight into her favor.  Unlike the last time she grabbed Chloe’s spear, Gricelda still maintained her grip on Chloe’s hair, literally and figuratively using it as leverage against her.

Chloe never reacted to her hits finding their targets; she was as impassive as ever and relentless. After the roundhouse kick, she was ready for another attack but changed her action mid-way as the wolf faunus came charging at her. The slide wasn’t completely unexpected, she seemed to like hitting low, which was a valid tactic in general, especially since she was relatively tall and used a weapon not known for its super close range effectiveness. Still, the move was too sudden for Chloe to use it to her advantage and stab at her mid-slide, so she instead used her spear as a support for a flip in the air over Gricelda’s head. She fell back on her feet facing her and batted away the overhead strike with her spear as her free hand shot forward for a palm strike.

Hit or not, Gricelda’s hand grabbed on her hair at the same time. Some people saw this tactic as dirty, but not Chloe. In battle, you use everything to your advantage to win. It’s not a sport, they’re warriors, it’s a lifestyle. It was something she herself tried on her family members and they turned it against her every time.

Being pulled down wasn’t an issue to Chloe. She definitely couldn’t avoid the strikes as she was in her clutches, but so long as she held on, she wouldn’t be able to avoid hers either. Sliding her hand just under the tip of her spear, the bird faunus used her spear to launch two quick stabs at her stomach. Even if she let go of her hair to avoid those, Chloe had used her close proximity to put her leg behind Gricelda’s in an attempt to trip her down, either from her backing off or the spear wielder using her last stab to push her backward. Dragged by the hair or not, she would try to land with an elbow drop on her opponent’s solar plexus.

Gricelda was hoping to hold onto Chloe's hair like a leash would give her more control over her opponents actions, especially given that a spear would not fare well at within close ranges such as these.  Chloe however made this proposition difficult in close quarters melee with her palms.  Gris backed off, loosing her girl on the girl's hair but still holding onto the ends of her long hair.  However, this put Gris into a situation where she Chloe could make two light spear jabs at her torso like dagger, feat which is quite impressive given how unbalance such a technique would normally be to those who lack the strength to do so.  Gricelda promptly releases Chloe's hair but was ready to quickly dash out of the way of the two piercing jabs.  Chloe was just a little too fast however.

The moment she realized this Gris tucked her arms to her body instinctively to brace herself.  Unknown to Gricelda, her aura manifested itself into a shielding protective bubble of wind.  As Chloe's twin strikes near their target, it would as though a struggle to keep them on point as the swirling winds with faint but distinct white/grey hue to them.  Nevertheless, both attacks connect with he wolf faunus but would appear to have done only the most minor of damage to her.  Thus, Chloe's plan to trip Gricelda as she moved backed failed as Gris remained stationary.

Gricelda would at first look back up to Chloe with some confusion, puzzled as to why Chloe was holding back which is what Gric previeved based on Chloe's relatively weak attacks since Gris herself was still oblivious of to her own aura shielding her with wind.  Gricelda was about to open her mouth and say comment if she was holding back but Chloe didn't give her the chance as she was ready to elbow her.  Gricelda would then furrow her brow as she raised her hatchet to recieve her opponents elbow strike.  As Chloe elbow connects with the handle of her hatchet, Griscelda then catches Chloe arm with her axe head and uses the leverage to move arm out of the way to leave her opponent exposed.  Lacking another weapon to attack with, she instead  steps forward to free her leg from Chloe's and goes for a left hook with her free left arm, her fist posed to strike Chloe just below her right temple.  Following the punch, Gricelda once again grasped onto Chloe's hair, this time yanking her hair to force Chole intimate contact, hopefully, with her Gricelda's raised kneecap.  Gricelda would then follow up the action by unhooking her hatchet from Chloe's arm and raises it in the air before quickly bringing it down like a hammer as she opts to strike the back of Chole's head with the blunt back end of the Grizzly Cutter instead of the its edged end.

This time Gricelda doesn't stay around and lets Chole's hair after yanking it and pushes herself off Chloe with her left hand to regain some distance.  After stumbling back a few paces, she wipes a bead of sweat from her forehead with her right forearm and calls out to Chloe.

"Can you do me a favor and NOT hold back?!  I know you can hit me harder than that.  You might be kicking my butt that I would rather fight you with your full strength!  Either give it your all or not at all." growls the faunus, who was unaware still that her aura protected Gris from the full impact of the attacks and instead mistakenly believed that Chloe was trying to go a little easier on her.

Gricelda then brings her hatchet out in front of her defensively as she prepares for Chloe's next attack.

Chloe was a bit surprised by the wind shield type of thing Gricelda did to block her two piercing stabs. She wasn’t expecting that and was pleasantly surprised by it. In terms of pure physical combat, the avian faunus had the advantage but the wolf faunus had much more options with her obviously larger aura reserves to use her semblance. All in all, Chloe considered them relatively equal. Still, surprised didn’t mean off-guard. While her free arm was held by Gricelda’s hatchet, Chloe still had her other arm holding her spear to block the incoming jab to the side of her head. She quickly raised her hand holding her spear, the long shaft still dragging on the floor, and caught the punch on the metal pole.

She was about to perform her own counter-attack when her hair was grabbed again, interrupting her. This time though, she didn’t leave any time for Chloe to do anything about it and had a close encounter between her head and her opponent’s raising kneecap. Her position didn’t give her much opportunities to counter attack, her spear had been pointing upward instead of toward the front like before, so by the time Chloe got the hit on the back of her head, she only had time for one quick stab at her opponent’s hip the same way she did before : hand under the tip and the but of the spear dragging on the floor behind. Hit or not apparently Gricelda didn’t want to stay close like before, probably learned of how it wasn’t such and advantageous position in the end.

Her words were confusing though. What was she talking about? Chloe never held back in a fight in all her life, she didn’t even know how to hold back. Hell she told her so before the fight. Cocking her head to the side in confusion she looked at her sparring partner. “What are ye goin’ on about? Told ya before I wouldn't go easy on ya and I ain't. If yer talkin’ about me semblance, I just ain’t got ‘nuff aura ta do stuff like ya do.” Still, at that, Chloe began smiling wickedly. “Buuuut if yer that curious.

Taking a new stance, she held her spear parallel to the ground behind her. As she started winding up for a dash, a light-green glow started to emanate from the avian girl as the air around her started spinning around her, lifting dust and other things along the way, making it visible to the naked eye. In the eye of this mini-air-spinner, Chloe started running toward Gricelda. She was slightly faster and got there quicker than she would have normally. The wind around her was barely a constant breeze really, nothing strong, but it was like the air itself was moving out of the way to let the green haired girl move easier and faster. If it had to be scientifically explained, it was like tailing some big truck on a road and using the vacuum it left behind to accelerate more easily. Not that Chloe could explain it like that. Really, all she understood was that when she wanted to move in a specific direction, it was like she was pulled that way on demand by the air she subconsciously controlled in this state.

Chloe ran past Gricelda on the side and swung her spear in a wide arc as she did so to catch her straight in the stomach with the long shaft. Not stopping there, Chloe jumped behind the wolf faunus and used her spear still hooked around her opponent’s stomach to spin around her in the air and land on the other side. She had switched hands on the spear mid-air and was again holding it right under the tip but in a reverse grip. She did a full spin on herself, her spear close to her body so it won’t drag her away with momentum but still parallel to the ground, ending with a dagger-like stab to her opponent’s side.

The moment the attack ended, hit or not, Chloe let the butt of the spear touch the ground and jumped, double kicking at Gricelda’s chest area to both attack and launch her backward over her grounded spear. When she landed, she had the tip pointing behind her, still holding it reverse grip. She shot the weapon behind her back, her other hand catching it and changing its course toward her front. The weapon shot forward to Gricelda at maximum range, Chloe catching the butt of her spear as it was flying forward and extended herself to the maximum to hit the wolf faunus in the chest area again.
