Softly, the birds chirped in the soft, warm glow of the early noon sun. Heels softly clicked on the stone path that lead from the courtyard to the actual academy. And the new student slowly made her way towards the academy. Sporting a large, archaic and most of all, unholy looking scythe behind her. Massive in it's gestahlt and overbearing in intimidation. Though some of that awe-striking appearance was lessened by the tennis ball propped against the tip. Bandages wrapped around the blade. So even if it hit someone, it wouldn't cause any lacerations. The scythe was an odd looking thing, but it was even weirder that Mathilde seemed to lug it around in her left hand. Holding it up constantly, without visibly breaking a sweat.

"So, this is Syne academy," she murmured, rolling her shoulder with a soft huff. The place she'd spend a lot of her time. She didn't know why Atlas had sent her to this academy at any rate. But she was excited. The corner of her mouth twitching up in the ghost of a smirk. There was only so much simulation and a facility's training could do. Now she'd be taught proper form and combat. And without much other thoughts, the grey haired girl moved towards the main entrance, glancing up at the massive doors. Luckily, else it'd be a pain with Harrowed Justice. It happened before. That she had to evacuate people just to manage herself and the massive scythe through the door. Though that also did quite the effect of showing her control with the bladed weapon.

Once inside, she felt lost however. Would there be orientation? Where were they supposed to go now? Were there classes in effect? She turned on her feet, looking around for any potential tutors. Or, anyone that knew where they were going. The last thing she wanted to happen now was get lost or miss some kind of important information.

Jimmy scratched his scraggly face idly as he explored the grounds for possibly the ninth time since he got here. This place was gorgeously decorated and the courtyard still astonished him with its awe inspiring view of the architecture that adorned the landscape atop the forest. In time, however, Jimmy had made his way back to the main rotunda of the academy. He was graced by the presence of a tall gray-haired woman with a sizable scythe nearby the main door. Although, his common sense was screaming at him not to talk to the girl with the gigantic death weapon, she looked lost and Jimmy's altruistic impulses seized control.

"Miss, can I help you in any way?" He smiled warmly, although he couldn't stop thinking about how tall this woman was compared to what the general average was. It didn't show on his expression however, as he simply continued to smile and tilted his top hat slightly back.

Altough it had been a while since he arrived here, Gabe still had no clue where everything was yet, so he wandered around aimlessly to try and get his bearings.  He would've kept going, but something caught his eye.  A magician! Or... what seemed like a magician.  He'd never seen a magician or anything like a magician in person, he's only read about them or heard people mention them.  He was already bored, so he figured that it'd be nice to take a minute to relax and enjoy some magic tricks before he continued his search.  Ignoring the other person he was clearly talking to before he showed up, Gabe walked over to who he thought was a magician and spoke up.

"Hey, you're uh... You're a magician right?  I've never seen one in real life and I'm beyond bored right now.  You know any good tricks?"

A voice piped up from behind her, Mathilde turning around to look down at James, letting out a soft breath of relief and a reassured smile forming. The scythe slid down slowly, before thumping against the ground with a loud clunk. The noise was however lost in the bustling of the other students rousing and being on their way. They knew where to be, apparently.

"I think you can, yes," she answered, the tension and stress she felt dissipated now at the prospect of someone actually telling her where to go. "I'm just horribly lost," she admitted with a soft sigh, rubbing the back of her neck with one of her gloved hands. "Is there an orientation? Do we have designated dorms or something of the nature?"

She glanced at the newcomer, questioning the more than helpful and friendly individual about being a magician. Well, technically, with a speck of dust. Anyone was a magician these days. So the question did wonders to just confuse her that little bit more.

Jimmy looked about as everyone seemed to question him simultaneously. He held up a finger to Gabe so that he could answer Mathilde. He listened attentively as she spoke and then spoke with a smile. "Ah, there is not an orientation much to the annoyance of most new students and attendees, myself included. You can usually just talk to a service member or go directly to the offices for your information, but classes aren't starting for a few weeks yet. As for dorms...." He scratched his stubble on his face. "You are assigned to a singles dorm, unless you are a member of a team. You can change your team status at any time, and thus your dorm status."

Jimmy slips a pamphlet out of his sleeve and looks it up and down before slipping it back into his sleeve. "That about covers that. But as for you..." He smiles and looks at Gabe. "I am actually what is known as a Dustweaver. Dust bends to my control and takes whatever form I choose, which I do incorporate into performances. That being said, I cannot do any here for a few reasons. One, the volatile nature of dust restricts me from using it any where outside the practice arena as it could incur individual harm or collateral damages. Two, I was only able to bring 2 vials of Fire dust with me from home which would severely restrict the performance in both size and variety."

"That's uh... I've never heard of a Dustweaver, but I feel like it's not as cool as a magician, so I'm honestly pretty bummed out right now."

Gabe sighed, his only source of potential entertainment ending up being a huge let down.  He now seemed to be in need of something else to occupy him, like the strange individual who's arm doesn't seem to get tired even while holding a scythe off of the ground for a while.  After watching for a moment or so, he could tell that something about this other person was off.  Not unnerving just... different.  He had some idea, but it wasn't anything solid.  Gabe had observed many types of people before, but this one seemed almost unnatural.  Then it clicked.

"Wait... Oh. You're totally a robot, calling it now."

He waited just a moment to see if they were going to say anything.  Gabe was fully aware that he wasn't the most appropriate person when it came to socializing with others, so he wanted to hear what their response would be.  However, he wanted to hear about robots more.

"So what's one of the advantages to being a robot?  I've always imagined that they never have to sleep, and that seems like a sort of good and bad thing, you know?"

She nodded again. "Thank you.. And-.. Where are those service members, or the offices?" Was the natural question to follow. A soft, awkward chuckle produced from her as she leaned against the scythe a bit more, rubbing the back of her head. Having the polearm resting on the floor since James came to talk to her. "I didn't get such a folder either," she let out a soft, annoyed breath, shaking her head momentarily.

Though the following was a tad more interesting. A dustweaver, huh. She never once heard about those. Never saw one in action either. Curious, to say the least. "So, you're-.. Less of a weaver. And more of a dustslinger?" She asked. Her shield receptors would do quite a lot against this individual solely. "I mean, I imagine it more as a slinger rather than a weaver," she added with a soft hum, before glancing over to Gabe. "What makes you think I'm a robot?" She smirked slowly. "I don't express my emotions in battle, but I'm not dead on the inside either," she made a dismissive gesture with her hand. "Why don't ask the Elysian knights back in Atlas? I'm sure they'll be able to provide an answer." She had no slip up, no way of anyone finding out she was an android. So the claim was easily dismissed without superstition.

Jimmy let out a sigh of discontentment at the latter comment but resolved to give as much of his aid as possible at the current time. "The service building should be marked on some signs that give directions out in the courtyard."

"But onto the other inquiries..." he dragged the statement out a bit. "Weaver is far more concise to the truth. I don't just throw dust at and about without thought. It is manifested the same way any art form would be, much like music or painting." He wasn't sure if he wanted to waste any of the dust he had with him just to demonstrate what he meant, however he supposed a tiny amount wouldn't hurt.

Jimmy wrapped his hands around one another and closed his eyes. As he dragged his fingers between one another his entire outfit became accented by glowing orange lines. He cupped his hands together tightly, and then closed his fingers as though he were pulling a string between them. There was no string though, but rather a small fiery snowflake around the size of Jimmy's palm. He balanced it on his fingertips before gently pushing it into the air for it to pop into several harmless little twinkling embers a few feet above them. He was just relieved that he hadn't put anyone in danger, but more relieved that he hadn't gotten in trouble for his stunt.

"You know what? Your answer wasn't as interesting, so I'm just going to keep thinking that you're a robot." What she said afterwards confused him a bit more, though. "I don't really know... what Elysian means... I mean most of what I know comes from books about math and stuff."

He would have felt uncomfortable after admitting one of his weaknesses, but luckily Jimmy lifted his unease with a short but entertaining dust... thing. Gabe has never used dust before, much less seen it in action. Unsure of where this conversation was going, he asked them each a question that would give them an opportunity to take control of the conversation so he didn't have to worry about being good at social interactions.

"So, uh... What are your majors? I'm into the combat stuff. Seems like it's the most exciting."

"Thanks," she answered with a soft smirk. Mathilde's gaze moved towards Gabe and she let out a faint smirk. "Atlesian knights? Like actual robots?" She pulled up her scroll and opened it, briefly going through it before showing a picture of an Atlesian knight, one she was posing with, pulling it close and holding up two fingers behind the robot's head to emulate bunny ears. "That's a robot," she tapped her cheek. "I'm just fleshy human," was her conclusion. "You can see the difference."

Mathilde hung back slightly to listen to Jimmy's ensuing explanation. She still was opinionated towards calling it a slinger, rather than a weaver. A weaver weaved strings together to form cloth and fabrics. And she imagined a dust weaver being someone infusing dust within clothes. Or infusing dust in any kind of fabric. That name fitted said role far more. That however, didn't mean she wasn't impressed with the dust weaving, she arched an eyebrow and chuckled as the fire crystal popped. Not having missed his clothes lighting up with the utilized energy.

Weaver. Correct. Now she understood the name.

"Combat," she chimed up, rolling her shoulder. "You know, this oversized farming tool needs to be used for something."
