Madam Haze

Madam Haze
Waving out to the sea of students before her, elevated upon a stage as did so befit her, The Goddess Eminence P. Haze strut her way to a microphone stood at its centre. She was stood just passed the school’s entrance, the stage she stood on constructed from white wooden panels and steel beams in the middle of what would normally be the cafeteria; a broad white curtain hanging behind her. As such the tables had been removed and the seats shifted, all now in rows to face the stage. Grasping the microphone with her right, pulling it slightly toward her, she sounded out to them; “Good morning students, new and returning, welcome to Syne academy’s opening ceremony and announcements! Starting naturally strongest with the highly acclaimed Huntress, your head of combat strategies, the resident Goddess; Madam Haze! Good luck to whoever dares follow!”

There was a pause for applause and there was some at least, enough to satiate her but not a lot. Half of it would be from the new and naive, who likely hadn’t heard of Madam Haze but would do it out of courtesy for their lecturer. The other half, slightly louder, those who had heard of her and perhaps even watched her in a tournament years ago… but never met the Goddess in person. The large portion of the class, mostly the upper years, were naturally silent and typically store daggers toward her. Regardless of this she continued.

“Thank you, thank you, do continue to praise me. Now each one of our staff are going to come up here in turn to give you a better idea of what to expect in their classes, naturally I will be going first~ For this School year I will continue to lead combat strategies as I did last, with vigorous training drills, displays of my innate power and long lectures on that which I cannot show you; the darker less comfortable side to strategy. Where the cost would justify the means and vice versa. It is safe to assume my class is core to most all areas of hunting, though it is more optional to those of you Tech Majors and Medical Majors. While it is mandatory for no student well, if a combat major intends on passing the end of year assessments they would be in their best interest to attend.” She smiled out to them, glad to have so many eyes gazing upon her, “You shall either love or fear your goddess, I do not care which. You will follow orders in my class and should I call upon you then you will act as I say or you will know my wrath. I have no qualms with taking any one of you into submission and rest assured I will come out victorious.”

Feeling the slightly vicious mindset overtake her, perhaps due to some of the faces she could see were clearly uncomfortable or fearful at her presence. Shaking her head to dispel such thoughts she continued; “I am available for private tutelage additionally, if you feel you are falling behind, for a fee, I will go out of my hours and teach you additional lessons. Now, I won’t allow you to have too much of a good thing so I will be leaving you all in the hands of our new head of the next speaker!” And with that she would return the microphone as if to walk off stage, but would stop and turn back to the crowd, “Ah yes, as for why the Headmistress is not here she has gone off to follow that Dragon which appeared off the coast. Apparently it is the closest one has come to the beachside or whatever. So you’ll be answering to yours truly for some time~ Lucky you!”

And with that Haze would walk back behind the curtain, marveling in the eyes which were upon her before quickly returning home away from the wretched place she was forced to “work.”

Thread Rules and Notes:

Gwyn Ryu

Gwyn Ryu
Stepping out after Haze had vanished was a man the students wouldn’t have encountered before, in fact his face was one seemingly wholly new to the island. It was a sharp face, appearing unbelievably cleanly shaven; as if he had his face waxed. His skin appeared pale, especially for one living on an island with so many beaches, and his eyes radiated some form of icy feeling to match their light blue colouration. He wore what looked to be some form of trench coat, white on the outside but red within, and had a rather strange contraption attached to his arm which shone blue like his eyes; most likely a weapon. Atop that there appeared to be a number of smaller piece of gadgetry littered across his body, one which appeared to be a combination of monocle and headset in particular, which glew in the same blue colour. All of which his dark brown hair stood to contrast.

Rather than take the microphone as Haze had he opted to simply stand before it, back straight and arms at his side in a manner not dissimilar to a soldier. In a deep, stern voice, he then began. “Greetings Students of Syne Academy. My name is Gwyn Ryu, you will refer to me Commander Ryu. Following the incarceration of the previous head of School Security, and with additional urging due to the recent Grimm Presence at sea, I have been brought on to fill the void. Ideally you will not see much of me, most of my work will be done through the monitoring of the surveillance cameras throughout the school. While these did exist in the school already I have updated them and had them made more obvious, that said I have also eliminated any blind spots on Academy grounds outside dorm-rooms. If something does happen, or someone does step out of line, I will purge the problem like a bolt from the heavens. That said, being a school where hunters are trained, if Grimm show up on campus and you are present I expect you to fight. If it appears you will be at risk then I will step in, I am not afraid to put restrictions nor order you should you be in, much less cause, a crisis situation. Otherwise however, when no one is present, I will be the one to see Grimm off of this land. From the earliest hour of the morning to the latest at night.”

It was at the mention of security cameras that some heads were turned, Students began looking for them and quickly found one positioned above the stage, A broad box with an obvious camera, turning as if scanning the crowd.

He would continue; “Regardless of how cold I may come across, my purpose is to look out for each and every one of you. You are weak eggs waiting to be hatched and I’m the dragon guarding them. This school, this castle, is my cavern to guard against threats you children cannot handle. If you do venture out of my home and come across wrongdoings on the island do not hesitate in notifying me, you will not be rewarded materially in most all cases. The reward of doing the right thing should be enough to satiate you. You will be able to contact me through your newly updated scrolls, I am an emergency number. Abuse this and I will return such abuse.”  And with that he would return the microphone; soon vanishing behind the curtain. His high, mighty and condescending attitude had sent murmurs throughout the crowd. It wasn’t quite the divide Haze caused, but some students were clearly uneasy. He seemed to have their best interests in mind… bud he was a stern man.

Ishi Omo

Ishi Omo
Ishi was not a man who talked in front of crowds very much. Sure, he wasn't terrified of it, but that was just the fact that he never did it. It was boring to him. Bunch of people staring at you while you yammered on about various thing. Not to mention, Ishi looked terrible. His hair was all about the place, and for once, he didn't have a lab coat on. His tie was on crooked, his eyes were slightly glazed over, and overall, he was in terrible condition. However, he was still there.

He walked up to the microphone, and started talking.

"Hello. I am Ishi Omo. I am your medical teacher. I'm a certified doctor who has saved many lives. You may have heard I'm a wacky teacher. That's fine because to most I must be a bit weird to most people. Lil bit reckless. That's fine though. I'm a general medical teacher."

The students were not impressed. That was reasonable.  They were still a bunch of kids who just kinda went about sorta lifting their eyebrow at it.

"I'm open for tutoring, especially the-"

Ishi stopped.

Ishi couldn't say that. That wasn't appropriate for a teacher to say. He had to leave before he got any worse.

"Anyhow. I'll be in my classroom."

Ishi went and stumbled off the stage and meandered towards his class.

Ruppy

Ruppy
Ruben walked out on stage in front of all of the students, new and old. He recognized some faces and even some new ones. Ruben walked up to the mic and stood by the stand. He began speaking,"Hello students of Syne Academy,I am Professor Nuke of the academy and I teach how to make weapons. It might not be core but it can help out if a weapon breaks or if you need one. I hope to make great friends with everybody and meet some great students." Ruben turned away from the mic for a second before turning back towards the mic and finished off with,"And before you ask,es I am an android, please don't annoy me with that. I got this question so many times it's ridiculous." Ruben finally turned around and began to head behind the curtains, pausing to hear some of the comments from the students. He finally took his place behind the curtains and went home. He needed to start on his project.

Dareios

Dareios
The slightly chubby old man walked up to the stage in some nice robes, as he had just gotten done meditating. He even wore sandals. The crowd was already more impressed with the old man then most, although even Dareios could feel the contempt of some of the crowd still left over from Haze, the startled half from that security fellow. Most of them still weren't impressed, although there were some smiling after Ruben had went on stage and done his thing.

"Hello, young ones. I am Dareios Orange, an ex-hunter and old man. I hope that you have as much fun at the academy as I had at mine. That's what you mustn't forget. You must have fun. What's the point in training if all you do is grump about? I assure you, you'll become a better huntsman or huntswoman. I used to be called the Dragon, and that was a well earned name. I hope all of you can find your own, special name to have here."

He nodded as some of the kids even looked inspired, but for the most part, most weren't still impressed. Dareios cared but also he went back to his room to meditate a bit more, or maybe his tea would be done? Either way, he was leaving to go do what he must.

Zrea Airgetlám

Zrea Airgetlám
Zrea was not an openly nervous man. His most valuable asset, in his own words, was the ability to act like he knew what he was doing even when he had absolutely no idea. Yet now he showed some small signs if his discomfort. Fidgeting with his sleve mindlessly, eyes jumping to every shift of the cloth partisan that he stood behind, waiting for his go at the crowd. Tactfully he knew that if he wanted to make a shining impression he had to wait until the most outspoken individuals had their turns, and now that he found that moment the theif hesitated.

Not out of fear of crowds. No he was far to accustomed to those to be bothered by what some students ended up thinking of him. Zrea felt like this was a final nail in the coffin that his previous life rested in. He was not naive enough to fail to understand that he could not throw away his past life entirely. However though Zrea the rogue was still in plain view, this event would mark a large step towards his change. No more theft, no more anarchy. This time he would try and be a sensible role model for the young adults here.

It was after this thought, and with a straightening of his dark green tie that the counselor stepped out onto the stage. His clothes were meticulously clean, and as he took his walk to the microphone he panned put over the crowd. Most seemed rather bored at this point, though he could not fault them that. Had he been a student Zrea would have left shortly after Haze spoke. But they were also a sort of captive audience. The new counselor took a deep breath as he readied himself and then spoke clearly. "I do not wish to bore you or drag this out overly long. I am Zrea Airgetlám. Filling in for a position that had remained empty for far too long. Your counselor." He looked at the crowd which remained mostly silent but recognized a few cursory looks of bewilderment. "All of you are in training to do what may well be the most important, and certainly the most dangerous field there is. And I am here to help you through that. Not by strength of arms or mental aptitude, but by aiding your worries. Every single person out there has some sort of trouble bothering them, and I would like to offer my ear and my office as a safe place to talk about them. With any luck we may be able to put to rest those woes.

"It is without a doubt that none of you will trust me at first, not when you have other wonderful professors that I am sure are just as willing to lend aid.
" A lie if he ever told one in his opinion, but that was only going off of the initial viewd he had of each of his coworkers. "I implore eachand everyone of you fine huntsman and huntresses in all but name to at least give me the benefit of the doubt in my skills in this, even if all I can offer are words and advice." Zrea gave a small bow, his hand curving in front of him, reaching into his coat. He touched the card he had drawn his semblance on, but then changed his mind. "I'll be available at any time, do not hesitate to come by." Zrea stepped away from the microphone and back behind the curtain. He would wait around for a while, see if anyone needed him before leaving as well.

Dr. Harvey Equinox

Dr. Harvey Equinox
Of course, it was then that Harvey stepped up to the mic, his mind still thinking in the mildest bit about the beautiful woman that opened up this orientation and how much he would have to pay to get a date. He peered from under his glasses, however, toward the crowd as he finally took his place at the front of the stage. There seemed to be a bit of bemusement about the air at the age of the man standing in the  same place that a member of the student faculty just was. "Ladies and gentlemen of Syne, I am Dr. Harvey Equinox. I am in fact a member of the schools staff team beginning this year, and I will be instructing several courses related to Criminal Investigations & Interrogations. I have a PhD in both Psychology and Criminal Justice." Some of the older students seemed almost relieved that there was a new teacher with verifiable credentials here. Harvey continued on, "I am also a certified huntsman, which I completed the training for last year, so I still remember everything freshly. Many forget... that huntsman and huntresses are not only slayers of the creatures of grimm.... but also extensions of state for whomever they align with and can find themselves in law enforcement positions quite often."

Harvey's eyes suddenly darkened. "I will train you in everything you need to fight the darkness of mankind. Keep in mind that right now, there are thousands of people on Remnant many times stronger than you, and more than willing to take advantage of that. Which is why I want you all with me to ensure you have the skills and the knowledge to not only stay alive out there..." He suddenly cracked a smile. "...but to look good doing it."

Harvey suddenly pulls out a cigarette from his pocket and pops it into his mouth, soon lighting it and setting off the fire alarm and the sprinkler system over the stage. He pops a small hardlight dome over the stage and looks more or less unfazed. "Come see me in my classroom away from the prying eyes of these godforsaken cameras if you're interested." He turned and disappeared behind the curtain, and his dome dematerialized soon after. As he left, he couldn't help but think that getting that date might be bit of a challenge now.

Kiragaya Getsuga

Kiragaya Getsuga
Naturally Kiragaya would approach the microphone next. Dressed in his usual combat attire with his giant blade haphazardly slung onto his shoulder. He was also barefoot, and stepping in the wet puddles that that incompetent detective guy made, much to his growing ire. Most of the other teachers hadn't interested him much, save for that first chick, and the old man. He would quickly look over the crowd frowning slightly at some the looks of admiration he was given. It seemed even backwater islands knew of his fame. It was of no matter of course, he would get his point across either way.

With little hesitation he would slam his large blade into the ground next to him making noticeable splinters in the polished white wood, grasping the microphone with his dominant hand he would begin to speak."Listen up snots! I'm sure some of you know already but my name is Kiragaya Getsuga, from this point onward I'm going to be in charge of your Physical Education. Now..I am not going to honey coat it one bit, I will work you till you can't even stand, and even then I'll still expect results out of you!"

He would quickly inhale a breath only to start coughing slightly afterwards. "Damn, nicotine addicted piece of...as I was saying! Make no mistake, I will not train you to be something you're not meant to be! If your body isn't fit to be a herculean mass of muscle I won't make you that way, If your body isn't fit to be a fast and flexible fighter, I'll train you to be something different! The only,  and I mean only thing my class requires, is guts and and hardwork! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to have a chat with a certain someone about smoking."

Quickly turning on his heel, he would pick up his blade and sling it onto his shoulder walking back behind the curtains, while muttering numerous curses about nicotine and water.

Luka White

Luka White
Luka giggled a little *I guess i should say something and tell them who i am as well* once Kiragaya was done talking. She walked over to the mic giving everyone a little friendly smile and a wave.

"Hello everyone i'm White Luka an--" She than stopped and giggled a little. "Sorry let me try that again Hello i'm Luka White and i'm the dust Professor and i well be showing you how to handle and use dust for in and out of combat. So if you need any help just stop by my class before or after classes and i'll be more than happy to help you guys."

She was sure that was all they cared to know and may of be ready to go. "I'll see you all soon." As she waved to him once again and walked away form the mic and the room as well. She had to start getting ready for the school year to start.
