Stealth Combat Training (Solo Hunt)

Finnek Forest. It was a place where most people would go to have picnics and to enjoy nature. However, Nyx was in Finnek Forest for an entirely different reason. Nyx had decided to go to Finnek Forest so that she could test out the blue camouflage gear that she developed out of sheer boredom. Nyx had decided to test the camouflage in a combat situation. A hunt in Finnek Forest would provide Nyx with a perfect testing environment.

Currently, Nyx was well-hidden among the large blue bushes which was located near a clearing which was located in the center of the forest. The camouflage matched perfectly color-wise with the blue hue of Finnek Forest. As Nyx made a note of this, she then slid a blue-colored barrel cover which covered the barrel of sniper rifle. This should help her camouflage her sniper rifle from the eyes of anyone passing through the area. In particular, Nyx wanted to see if this camouflage would work on the Grimm.

Beowulf especially are not renowned for their keen deductive reasoning skills. Two of them had fallen in together, finding it their lot to travel together for a while, until eventually their paths split- most likely, by the path of a bullet. They knew something was in the area- no matter how well hidden, blood and flesh still called to them, that smell they knew as "enemy". It burned in them, called them forth to hunt, kill, destroy. These were old enough to have gained some measure of wisdom, but were not yet old enough to be able to resist the bloodlust. They ambled along, searching for the source of that smell. They entered into a clearing that was drenched with the smell. They knew it was here, but could not find the source. One went to one side, one to the other. Hunting down their prey, as they were compelled to. They would doubtless present ample opportunity for attack in the moments before their frantic search ended in a roar.

"Looks like there are two Beowulfs inbound." Nyx thought quietly to herself as she watched two Beowulfs enter the clearing which she has been watching over carefully. From her perspective, Nyx could tell that these two Beowulfs were at least traveling together. Soon after, Nyx watched as the two Beowulfs split up as they began searching around the clearing. One of the Beowulfs moved to one side of the clearing while the other went to the other side. Nyx waiting until they were as far away from each other before taking aim.

Nyx then took aim at the Beowulf which was the farthest away from her. As she placed the cross hair of her sniper scope on the Beowulf, Nyx waited until the first Beowulf stopped moving. As she did so, Nyx used her semblance to boost the damage of her shot. After a few moments of waiting, Nyx fired at shot at its center of mass. After doing this, Nyx then started cautiously crawling back away from her current firing position. However, the other Beowulf had managed to figure out her general location.

The sound of the beowulf closest to nyx let out a bloodcurdling roar of excitement as it found here mere moments before she released her shot. The thrum of the bullet twined with the roar, for a second, and beowulf B turned its head to look at its compatriot, only to recieve a bullet to the dome. The force of the blow sent it spinning head over heels and crumpling to the floor, stunned for a moment. Beowulf A turned its gaze from its crumpled comrade and roared as it saw that it's prey was attempting a tactical retreat, and rushed forward, slashing rather wildly as it charged her close- hoping that the ranged combatant would be stunned or surprised at the wild rush. It slashed at her with its claws a bit ponderously, three times in total. Beowulf B had gained its feet, a little worse for the wear. It was the smaller of the two, but it was also the more cunning. While A charged in a headlong rush, B circled around and came at nyx quietly from the side with a viciously quick one-two combo, leaping at her to maximize its supposed stealth.

As Nyx was crawling away from the bushes, she caught sight of the second Beowulf trying to sneak around and flank her out of the corner of her eye. At the same time, the first Beowulf came in with a headlong charge. This would have been the worst case scenario for Nyx. However, Nyx quickly noticed that both Beowulf had positioned themselves in such a way that if she rolled to her right, she could force them to attack each other.

"Perfect." Nyx thought quietly to herself as she rolled over a meter or two to her right. After this, Nyx laid on her back while taking aim with her sniper rifle and activating her semblance. She then waited quietly until the two Beowulf had crossed paths before firing. Nyx fired one shot at the left knee of Beowulf A. After cycling the bolt-action and loading a round into the chapter, Nyx fired another shot into the knee of Beowulf B.

After firing these two shots, Nyx quickly rolled over on her stomach before pushing herself onto her feet. She then quickly made a dash towards the heavily wooded area which was located near the clearing. Nyx wanted to create some distance between herself and the two Beowulfs.

The two Beowulves paths were already committed, and when nyx rolled swiftly out of the way they collided in a jumble of limbs and claws. The expert markswoman fired into this jumble, hitting first one wulf, then the other. The big one is on his feet first, the second one rose a few moments later, it's chest heaving with labored breath. Their memories and body identities were much better than their general reasoning skills, so from the memory of where they had been shot they knew the general direction of where nyx had been before she moved. Even the bigger one advanced with caution, now, however. They split up slightly and advanced in two opposite arcs torwards where nyx had shot them from, the smaller injured one trailing slightly behind the first. They moved swiftly, decisively, no trace of fear or concern in their dark hearts. It was almost comedic.

After making some distance between herself and the two Beowulfs, Nyx took some cover behind a fallen some fallen trees which was located about 30 meters or so away. Once she was behind cover, Nyx laid down prone and began looking through her sniper scope towards the clearing. By this time, the Beowulfs had gotten themselves out of the "Accident". They were now currently scanning the area where she was last was. From her scope, Nyx saw that they were using the same circling technique that they tried to use on her before. However, one of the Beowulfs was lagging behind slightly.

Nyx decided to focus on this one as it was the closest to death. Nyx activated her semblance to buff her sniper rifle's damage. After doing this, Nyx took a deep breath before firing a shot at the weakened Beowulf. Nyx then cycled the bolt action before firing another shot at it. Both shots were aimed at the Beowulf's torso.

After firing two rounds at the weakened Beowulf, Nyx decided to take aim at the larger Beowulf. In particular, she decided to aim at the Beowulf's other knee. The reason(s) for this was that; 1. She found it somewhat funny and 2. She wanted to reduce the maneuverability of this Beowulf some more. After adjusting her scope, a bit, Nyx then fired once more.

The first shot rang out, causing both wulves, to... well, to notice her. They would have jumped, but, you know. Grimm. By some combination of luck and reflex, the small beowulf managed to dodge the first shot, but the second following on its heels caught him (did Grimm even have gender?) Dead to rights. The Grimm exploded into the familiar black smoke. The second beo dropped to its hands and knees even as its buddy died, running headlong at nyx in a weaving pattern, trying not to get shot. Futily, I might add, but the shift in gait meant that it got blasted in the side, instead of the knee. The shot sent it wrenching in shot circle lead by the hip, but it roared and rose into a dash. It would get its claws into her if it was the last thing it did. It bounded for her, and leaped, claws and teeth outstretched.

After confirming that her shots had hit their targets, Nyx then quickly got up and prepared to relocated to another sniping location. However, Nyx barely had time to do anything before the other Beowulf had closed the distance between them. After closing the distance, the Beowulf attacked Nyx with its claws and mouth. Nyx cursed quietly before dodging to the right.

Nyx managed to dodge the first claw strike cleanly. However, the the 2nd claw strike glanced her left left arm. Despite of this, this Beowulf's razor sharp claw cut through her jacket, the sleeve of her dress shirt, and cut the skin on her left arm. Nyx quickly winced as the wound started bleeding. Soon after, the Beowulf's teeth scored another glancing cut on her left arm. By this time, adrenaline was coursing through Nyx's system. Due to this, Nyx endured through the pain she was feeling as she launched her counterattack on the Beowulf.

Currently, the Beowulf's back was facing her due to the fact that its attack had launched it forward slightly. Nyx took advantage of this by moving behind the Beowulf. After doing this, Nyx slammed the buttstock of her sniper rifle into the Beowulf's unarmored neck. Soon after, Nyx then slammed the buttstock of her sniper rifle into the Beowulf's shoulder. Nyx then activated her semblance in preparation to end this Beowulf.

"Can you just die already!!" Nyx thought as she pressed the barrel of her sniper rifle against the unarmored neck of the Beowulf before pulling the trigger. After firing the shot, Nyx loaded another round into the chamber of her rifle before firing shot into the back of the Beowulf's head.

Finally in melee range at last! The Grimm would have thought, if it had been capable of such things. It's mad charge had worked, which was even better! However, this placed Wulfie in a bad position- but thankfully, Nyx' first instinct was to slam the butt of her rifle into him. He may have been incapable of thought, but it did feel a bit indignant as the rifle smashed into the back of his neck. The stocky beowulf roared, as the blow rocked it forward, then he dropped into a crouch and spun, slashing at Nyx' legs, the second blow going wide overhead as Wulfie then launched himself, claws first, aimed straight for the snipers midsection. If only she had fired first... perhaps it was this gratitude which had made it pause for the slightest moment in its final charge, more likely it was the ferocity that it saw in her own eyes.

Nyx's first melee strike landed on its target. However, the second one missed due to the Beowulf crouched down and spun. This attack caught Nyx's leg. The Beowulf's claw cut into her thigh. Nyx quickly winced slightly at the pain. However, this also caused another burst of adrenaline to be released into her system. After the Beowulf had slashed Nyx, it then lunged at her in an attempt to get at her midsection. At this very moment, Nyx felt as if her perception of time was slowing down. Her life was on the line and it is either killed or be killed.

As the Beowulf lunged at her, Nyx quickly dropped onto her back. This action saved her life as it caused the Beowulf to miss her entirely. As the Beowulf overshot her, Nyx quickly aimed her sniper rifle at the jaw of Beowulf. Nyx then activated her semblance before firing the shot. After this, Nyx then loaded another bullet into her sniper rifle. She then took aim at the Beowulf's neck before firing. With this, Nyx hoped that she had finally killed the Beowulf. Currently, she was in no condition to fight any longer. To be exact, she would need to head to the Medical Bay to get patched up immediately.

Ya ever wonder why Grimm and humans fight? How did it all start? Why couldn't Grimm just leave humans well enough alone? These thoughts dimly flickered through Wulfies mind as the world passed in slow motion, staring down the edge of the barrel. The Beo thought about the journey that had brought it here. All the humans it had killed. With his dead friend, Beowolf B, or as Wulfie knew him, Bjeorn, they had managed to cut a larger swathe, even killing a few hunters. But now, Bjeorn was dead, and the gun fired, sending his head snapping upwards from the sheer force as it's jaw shattered. He would join his friend soon. The gun fired again, tearing through his neck. He hit the floor, and as his body disintegrated, he raised a claw to the sky, which he finally noticed was blue. It was only on his deathbed that Wulfie truly saw the world around him. As the last part of him disintegrated, the claw held to the sky, he finally knew regret.

After a few tense moments, the Beowulf collapsed onto the floor before disintegrating back to where it came. Nyx quickly let out a sigh of relief as she sat up. The adrenaline was still coursing through her system so she was still in fight-or-flight mode. After a while, Nyx managed to relax somewhat. It was then when Nyx focused on treating the wounds as well as she can.

Before doing this, Nyx took out a small flask out of her jacket. This flask held her favorite alcohol, Vodka. As an sniper/assassin, Nyx has made a habit of not drinking while she was on the job. However, this time was the perfect time to take a swig as it would help Nyx relax some more. Despite of this, there was a matter that needed dealing with. Nyx then took out some medical gauze from her jacket before soaking them in Vodka.

After doing this, Nyx then used the medical gauze to wrap the two slash wounds on her arms very tightly so that it could temporarily stop the bleeding. Nyx then did the same with the her leg wound. This measure would be a temporary one as Nyx really needed to get these wounds sutured ASAP. After treating her wounds, Nyx then took a long swig of Vodka before standing up and putting her flask away. Soon after, Nyx then turned around and walked away with her sniper rifle slung over her right shoulder.
