Arrwyn Ellavir

Arrwyn Ellavir
The worn scabbard was as clear an indicator as any to Arrwyn her sword was in a poor state. It hadn’t been her family’s best, not by a long shot as among other things there were plenty of huntsmen and huntresses though they didn’t make any sort of tradition of it as some noble families did. One thing was assured however, those that did study to be hunters had to forge their own legacy, she hadn’t even been allowed to buy a decent sword, as family tradition was strict in this regard. She’d been given a minimum of funds to buy the weapon she’d used, forcing her to buy a sword that while obviously of originally noble make, had been left to tarnish over years if not decades. The sword itself wasn’t poorly made, but Arrwyn had been noticing flaws that could easily have been fixed. The blade was hardly suitable for a proper huntress, let alone an Ellavir huntress.

Arrwyn had thought about the issue for a few days, knowing tradition forbid her from relying on her family’s funds until she’d graduated from the school, with a few exceptions made for things such as transportation and luxury during certain holidays, or celebration within the family. Essentially, while her family didn’t have a long tradition of huntresses or hunters, they had traditions regarding if a member of the family were to pursue the path of a hunter. She’d managed to save up enough money she could comfortably afford to improve her weapon now. The noble took a bit of time to find a proper blacksmith and was disappointed to see that there wasn’t a cute, hunky young blacksmith waiting for her behind the counter of the small blacksmith’s place she’d found. Instead there was an old man with a gray beard and bald head sitting behind the counter, a somewhat grumpy expression on his face as he looked down at her.

Arrwyn presented the weapon to him before deciding to properly get down to business. “Excuse me sir, I need to know what I can have done with this, preferably within a couple days.” She explained, watching as the old man picked up the weapon and inspected it calmly. “Hmm, old one isn’t it, older than me probably. Not all that great condition, I could fix the blade, but It won’t be as good as a proper reforging, still you aren’t giving me much time to work with…” He explained.

“Right now, I just need it to be functional, I want to do the rest myself…” She added, though she didn’t know enough about weaponsmithing yet to really make the attempt. She needed the sword to be better than it was for now, though she wasn’t concerned so much for perfection yet. That would be for later, when she had the knowledge to do it properly, and while she herself didn’t think she’d mess it up too much the risk was too great.

Arrwyn wasn’t sure what she’d do if she ended up ruining the sword, so for now it would be better to leave it to someone more experienced. “Alright, do what you can, and I’ll pay, but I need it back in a few days for classes.” She agreed, and the two bargained on the price for a few minutes before agreeing to a deal. Arrwyn paid for the man’s services before leaving. Now it was time to go looking for someone cute to play with, since she’d come all the way out here.
