Kei

Kei rode along in a small, open door dropship that zoomed across the top canopy of Finnek Forest. There was nothing special about this ride though, it was yet the beginning of another reconnaisance/hunt issued by the Academy. Recent events in Vale left Bellmuse in high alert against external threats, both from Grimm and terrorist cells. The result of this? Constantly being sent out on the same, repeat missions.

Kei wasn't alone this time around, but instead, Avery and Jet were also accompanying him on this mission.
"Alright, so listen up, here's the game plan," Kei said turning to face Jet and Avery, yelling over the wind rushing in from the open doors in the side of the airship, "Today is supposed to be my day off you see, but for some reason, I'm here instead of enjoying the day in the bed. That being said, I intend to use the same amount of effort on this mission as I would if I were still in my bed, so don't expect me to go all out. On the bright side of things, I've seen the both of you in combat, your both pretty capable, so yea, I shouldn't be too much of a problem."

Jet was all smiles in the airship as he listened to Kei and looked outside, scanning the air. The sky was pretty covered so his vision was good enough with not much chances of sudden blindness from looking too directly at the sun. He was happy to hunt with the masked guy again, still unsure of his name. He remembered that he was pretty reliable even if he DID start the snowball fight that ultimately got him and Noire to go to the infirmary. Not that he could complain, he had fun. Also, he was glad Avery was there too and this time it was on purpose, not a chance encounter as had become the norm for them recently.

When he checked the mission board for stuff to do, he was looking for something different, like, something that DIDN’T have a Deathstalker as a target. One of them was still open, search and destroy kind of hunt for a threat over Skylight Woods. That screamed Nevermore(s). They had already assigned it to someone, something they usually do for hunts that needs to be dealt with fast and can’t wait for someone to sign in, but there was more than one spot for it and it hadn’t departed at the time, so he signed in on the spot. Still, it was Nevermores, air battle, something he wasn’t all that great considering he’s basically short-mid range. He had fought Nevermores before and won without much issue, they’re just a bit harder for him than other Grimms. Thinking about that, he had immediately thought of someone that would be quite an asset for this hunt and had sent her a text. “Yooo Av! Just signed up for a Nevermore search and destroy. You want in?

Back to the airship, Jet turned to Kei who was the one that was first assigned the mission. “So, did they give more intel on the mission? I assumed Nevermore since they mentioned that the threat was over Skylight Woods.

There are a lot of things Avery didn't like and one of them are open door airships. She let out a frustrated groan as she tied her hair up into a ponytail due to the rush of wind blowing it all over the place. Not the best time for lipgloss either. She thought begrudgingly before glancing at the two guys in the airship who would never understand her dilemma.

So she was stuck yet again with another noble mission to save the world or something. Nothing new. While she would've plained out declined, yes declined, the mission since she wasn't particularly in the mood to hunt today, Jeremiah's text earlier informed her that it might be Nevermores. And out of all the grimms, those were the only ones that still brought fun to her. Thus, here she was on a mission with two other people in the ship: her favourite person and least favourite person on board. Charming.

Avery looked up from her nails as Kei began to speak of the 'game plan' which involved him slacking and the two doing most of the work for him. Sure she could work with that. If anything, she'd have an excuse to take it easy as well and be lazy buddies. Her eyebrow twitched though at the next few words she heard and turned to little shades guy.

"Wait, so you texted me without confirming that they are Nevermores?" she asked, flabbergasted. "What if they're not?! I swear to god if this turns out to be another batch of scorpions..." she narrowed her eyes at him as though accusing him of his scorpion attracting presence.

Sharp beaks and powerful talons dragged through the clouds, tearing them asunder like shark's great black fins through the waves of a quiet shoal. Searching from the sky for prey to purge, only to find it in their own domain. A large grey carrier with a vast hull just happened to be beneath the black bird's V shaped formation. A berry prime for picking.

The largest of the birds, the one leading the pack, wasted no hate in diving down onto the metal ship bellow, weighing down heavily upon it and rending it's gargantuan talons deep into the top of the airship's hull. Potentially scratching the seated inhabitants within the ship as it flapped it's massive wings upward; forcing the plane down at a considerable rate.

This rate however soon increased, the two smaller birds diving straight down to clip the ship's wings clean off. With a final mighty flap the largest of the nevermore flew from the falling hull, prepared to pick off what remained of the humans within as a vulture would the carcass of a fallen wildebeest.

"They might have.," Kei said in response to Jet's question, "Though, I'm not entirely sure. I was kinda asleep when they called me. If anything, I'd say it's pretty impressive I actually got this far."

Seeing an opportunity to troll and humor himself, Kei turned to Avery after she had just went off on Jet.

"Don't so hard on him." Kei said casually, "Maybe he didn't want you here to fight Nevermores or Deathstalkers. Maybe he just wanted to confe-"

At that, without even a slight hint, a sudden claw tore through ceiling of the airship, and came down at Kei. Instinctively, Kei raised an arm to block the attack and protect his face, but it wasn't fast enough. He only managed to absorb a portion of the attack with his arm and the trench coat that protected it. One of the talons on the claw managed to get past, cutting at his eyebrow above his right eye and his face below his right eye.

The airship was thrown completely off balance and tossed Kei into one of the walls. There was screaming inside the pilots area that didn't last long as he either ejected from the ship or was killed.

The airship began to spin and fall, making extremely hard to gain footing. On top of that, blood was running from his facial wound into his right eye which forced Kei to keep his right eye shut, making him partially blind. At the moment, the airship was a metal coffin that Kei doubted he, Jet and Avery would survive if it hit the ground at this speed. They needed to get out.

Grabbing on to a handle in the interior of the airship with his right hand, Kei raised his left hand in a fist and pointed it at one of the closed doors on the side.

"Stand back!" Kei called out to Jet and Avery.

Not wasting any time, Kei fired a wrist rocket at the door, blasting it off and sending shrapnel flying in all directions. Thankfully, Kei turned his head as he did, preventing himself from getting blinded with metal in his other eye.

Pushing off of the wall, Kei jumped through the open door and was sent free falling through the sky. Maneuvering his body around, Kei turned himself around and pointed his left fist at the Nevermores. To slow them down from chasing after himself and Avery and Jet, Kei fired a Wrist Rocket at Nevermore 3, Nevermore 2 and then Nevermore 1, one after the other.

Quickly approaching the ground, Kei turned himself back around and reached into his belt, grabbing the weighted end of one of the coils of wire. Right as he fell past a tree, Kei threw the weighted end of the wire at one of the top branches, which the wire wrapped securely around. When the maximum length of the wire was reached from Kei's falling, his momentum pulled against the branch which caused it to absorb most of the force. The branch snapped off of the tree and Kei continued to fall to the ground, but his speed was greatly slowed, thus enabling him to land with a roll. At the same time, the wire came undone around the tree branch and began to retract automatically into his belt.

Jet threw his hands in the air at Avery’s accusation with a smile. “Hey, the mission parameters clearly stated “Over Skylight Woods”, I feel pretty confident in my assumption.” Dropping his hands he shrugged, looking outside toward the forest’s floor, trying to spot Grimms in case he really was wrong. “I’ll make you a deal, if it’s another bunch of scorpions, you’ll get my share of the spoils too, that’s good for you?

The black haired guy was smiling as he understood where Kei was going with his words. He was preparing some funny comment about it but his thoughts were interrupted by a claw ripping through the roof and stopping only a few inches from his face. “Woah!” After Kei conveniently opened the door, Jet jumped up from his seat preparing to go on the roof of the transport to attack the Nevermore directly, turning to Avery as he did so. “Well, it seems I was r-woaaaaaaah!

An airship in the middle of being assaulted by a trio of Nevermores was not the best time for him to try and be witty. Being up, Jet was literally thrown off the open side of the airship toward the forest. Well he was going to go out anyway, so that wasn’t much of a problem. As he was falling, he threw his weapon toward one of the two smaller birds, seeking to wrap it around its neck, using the velocity of his falling as a way to choke and wound the nevermore while having a grip on something to pull himself back toward the targets. Should the Grimm avoid being caught by the weapon, it would attach itself to the hull of the airship anyway, giving him the grip he needs for his next manoeuver.

Reeling in fast, Jet shot toward the still falling airship. In fact, the transport was now lower than him since his own falling arc was slower than the now piece of scrap metal, still propelled faster downward by the Nevermore. With renewed velocity and coming from above the bigger Nevermore, Jet spun in the air for a wide slash toward the giant bird that had now let go of the airship, letting it crash on the ground.

After his spinning slash, Jet used his weapon on a tree, embedding the tip in the thick trunk. With his momentum, he spun around the tree in a diagonal trajectory. On the apex of his upward movement, he used his semblance to have his weapon release the tree, flinging him like a rock from a slingshot back toward the Grimms. He had aimed well and was going straight for the same Nevermore he attacked first, one of the 2 small ones. Shooting his arm forward, his weapon flicked at the Grimm like a whip, aiming for the wing to both hurt and grab on it with the intention of pulling himself on the giant bird’s back.

"Over skylight woods and you didn't even think of griffons..." Avery murmured in response. But since he offered his share, the situation was not half bad. She turned slightly to Kei wondering where he was heading with his statement until the last few words where she realised what he meant.

Unfortunately, she didn't have time to react as sharp talons suddenly clawed through the roof. Due to her position of standing next to a wall, the claw came down low at her, managing to tear through her armour and scratch the side of her neck. This triggered her reflex and she shifted away, but soon she heard a soft snap and her eyes widened. Her hand instinctively shot to the wound on her neck that had started to bleed, but more than that, it was bare. The claw had actually snapped her choker armour off! Cursing, Avery picked up and pocketed the destroyed device; she'd just have to worry about it later. For now, she glanced at the other two: shades guy could win a lottery with his dang luck but other one...

"Kei, your eye..." she whispered, intending to stop the bleeding with her semblance but the airship was set off balance and she was thrown against the other side of the wall. Oh freaking give me break.

Avery was quick to regain her bearing and while Kei was busy trying to blast the door open, she took out her pistol and fired against the lock of the cockpit door and went inside. To her relief the pilot had ejected and was already at a safe distance. Only then did she join the two and stepped off the falling ship. A platform of ice conveniently formed beneath her, suspended in midair as she turned to face the flying grimms. Whipping out her other gun, she proceeded to open fire at the biggest Nevermore's body and wings.

Unfortunately for these raptors the prey had spread. There would be few easy pickings from the crashed carrier, instead a majority of the meat had thrown themselves from the jet. To say they were flying, or even maneuvering the sky well, was an insult to birds of their feather. As projectiles rocketed toward each of the birds the two smaller ones were able to beat them back with gusts from their powerful wings, reversing the rocket's trajectory and sending them spiraling out of control. The same gusts however forced a strange cable like contraption from attaching the other, instead attaching to the falling hull. The largest of the birds however, perhaps to prideful in it's dominance of the sky, took the missile to it's underside. Letting out a magnificent screech.

The pain of the largest beast enraged the two smaller birds, one swooped down; approaching the blonde haired girl as she took aim at the larger bird. The Second however noticed the man swinging forward, parrying his blade mid air with it's beak as it swooped upward. Hardly feeling it. As the man fell toward the treeline however the beast soared upward, letting out a magnificent gust of wind in his direction. With it flew two feathers, bigger than the target themselves, the winds forcing the man's whipping assault back as the pointed feather ends rocketed toward him.

As for the girl's shots however the large bird had begun to fall. Breaking through the smoke of Kei's missiles as she let off her barrage. Meanwhile the smaller bird rushed her plateau; flying over it's flat top in order to at the very least remove her from it. Scraping it's powerful talons over the base and knocking it spiraling.

The largest bird's eye cracked open but it retained it's free-fall.

The gust of wind from the Nevermore's wing matched that of hurricane winds, nearly toppling Kei off his feet right off the bat. Large feathers rained down from the sky, forcing Kei to quickly move to avoid being shredded apart by the projectiles. Kei moved between the trees, quickly navigating through them as cover and a means to evade the feathers. Unfortunately, this did little to nothing as the feathers were too powerful, tearing through the coverage of trees like a hot knife through butter.

One feather projectile in particular, completely penetrated the bark of a tree, piercing right through it clipping Kei in the side. The feather tore right through his Kevlar lined trench coat, and left a deep gash along his right ribcage. Kei winced, but he didn't stop, and pushed passed the pain for now.

Kei wasted no time moving to an opening in the forest, getting a clear view of the three Nevermore's as well as Avery and Jet who were both combating them. Kei pulled out a fire dust shard from his utility belt, and held it in front of his face with his left hand for a moment, channeling his aura into it. Kei took a quick deep breath, and as he did, crushed the fire dust shard, which caused it to shatter into minuscule pieces, which floated in the wind. He then proceeded to open his left hand into an 'O' shape, and as he did, blew all of the air out of his lungs into his hands.

For a couple of seconds, nothing happened. Then suddenly, the air in front of Kei burst into flames in the direction of the largest Nevermore. Though the flames themselves weren't extraordinarily hot, they spanned a large area and had more then enough capability to setting things ablaze. This was a technique Kei had learned from Garth Galvon, the Fire Hobo sage. It was a combination of using passive aura as a spark to ignite and control dust. Both the source and the catalyst of the power.

Kei used the large, flamethrower wave that was approaching the large Nevermore as a screen that kept him directly out of it's view. This in mind, Kei began to move again, once more ignoring the pain of his wounds. Kei began to move back into the clearing of the forest, going towards the point of the forest the large Nevermore was directly over. As he did, Kei began to reload the wrist rocket launcher on his left arm, completely refilling it with rockets. He was hoping the flamethrower would act as enough of a screen and a distraction for him to conceal his presence as he moved through the thick forest.

Once directly under the largest Nevermore, Kei let loose three rockets at it, which he fired right through the forest canopy, intending to catch the Nevermore by surprise.

With nothing to change course in mid air, Jet couldn't avoid the first feather, getting hit straight int he stomach. His weapon was already in motion outward toward the bird before being blown back toward him so even with his semblance he wouldn't have managed to use it for anything in time. The velocity and size of the feather reversed his course backward, his relatively strong aura defense saving him but still knocking the wind out of him. The second feather never came close to him though as he pushed himself away before the first one knocked him into a tree or the ground, which wouldn't be pleasant.

Turning himself in mid air, Jet used his weapon to grab and spin around a tree, letting him reach the ground safely. Jet tsked, looking at the birds in the air. Avery could reach them easily with her gun and her ice control was strong enough to make her fly. Ninja man had his rockets now, which is awesome and helped him reach them. Jet doesn't have much to fight Nevermores. His semblance doesn't have the power to lift him in to fight in the air and he doesn't have any real range. Cursing his current situation, he focused on trying to find an opening when he saw Kei shoot a large flame attack. This was bound to distract the Nevermore at least a little.

Following a few more spins around a tree to build up momentum, Jet was once again in the air. His flight path was calculated to cross the smaller Nevermore that was attacking Avery, leaving the one that attacked him behind. He didn't see the result of the bird's attack on the blonde girl but Jet still spun to slash at it's back as he was flying by, activating his semblance at the same time to amplify his weapon's motion. The attack was swift and quickly got the black haired guy out of the way at the same time, continuing his flight toward the bigger Nevermore.

His semblance still active, the blade whip shot forward in a corkscrew motion toward what he hoped was a distracted Nevermore. He saw that more rockets had shot toward the bird from the forest and he was thankfull he wasn't on the flight path of those as even should they miss the Nevermore they would pass in front of him. His attack done, hit or not, Jet used his semblance again to move his blade and wrap around the bird's wing, tightening both to try and hinder it's flight ability and to hurt it with the multiple blades.

"Are you kidding me? Are. You. Freaking. Kidding me?!"

Obviously, when the third Nevermore was hit by the rocket, Avery was firing bullets at it while it fell and not at some apparition where the bird had been. Still for some miraculous logic-defying reason, it survived every single bullet she released and managed to get out unscathed. "Charming. Very nice." Avery seethed and kicked an imaginary rock in annoyance. She sat on her floating ice platform, sheathing one of her guns and placing her elbow on her thigh with her chin on her hand while mumbling incoherent words to herself.

Had the airship not exploded leaving them stranded, Avery would've walked away from this ridiculous hunt since she honestly couldn't be bothered dealing with grimms with "Holy Powers". Yes, she'd faced these types before, those who have incredible luck in their side and manage to live through everything. She's even at a disadvantage because a standard rule with Holy Powered grimms was that the stronger the attack, the more likely they were to avoid it.

Another rule was to not bother with creative attacks because only one attack would land anyway, and that was if she was lucky. Inflicting freeze or burn was out of the question as the grimms prioritise avoiding those more than anything.

And so, as the first Nevermore attacked trying to knock her off, her platform simply floated above it. Avery then fired against that particular bird's wing and body, not even bothering to outstretch her arm and looked liked she was just watering plants or something. She aimed those guns on the other Nevermore whipping out winds and fired at its tail and body as well.

Nevermore 1 ~~~~
Bullets tore through the bird beneath the blonde haired girl, tearing straight through the beast and completely shattering the ice beneath it. How could it have been so blind as to miss the girl's floating ice mass?  The sounds of the gunfire coupled with the wake of bird's creaming sounded out all around. How could they have discerned that the weapons had such great fire power? Without so much as a second thought the bird increased it's speed, though it's wing was torn toward it's edge, the beast rocketed far from the blonde before circling back. So much had it's speed increased that it managed to dodge the launched attack of the black haired man. Halting a good ten meters from the airborne huntress.

It flapped it's wings hard, gathering up strong air currents and patiently waiting as the flock suffered.

Nevermore 2 ~~~~

The second nevermore, hearing it's brother's screams, quickly turned it's attention to their location. Immediately flapping backward in shock, the result of this altered flight pattern was the bird dropping down fast; though one of her bullets pierced straight though the beast's bone like face-plate. It's beak was devastated.  Leaving it's only armour devastated. The second bullet, aimed for the bird's body initially, soared by the beast's head. Missing by a small distance.

Nevermore 3 ~~~~

As the sky before the largest of the nevermore burst into flames it decided to reinstate it's aerial dominance. Stopping it's free-fall with powerful gusts. Remaining in place but whipping up winds so powerful the sky wide explosion was fanned downward. Setting the treetops beneath ablaze, more so than the initial crash and explosion of the carrier had done. As the rockets approached the bird planned to fan them backward, only to find one of it's wings had been pierced by something metal. The outraged gusts fanned wildly, but ultimately not all of the rockets could be diverted. One trailed upward, devastating the bird's mask like it's brothers was by the girl's bullets. Another drifted down, stripping the bird of one of it's legs. It let out a scream, in unbearable pain.

However, as the boy came in to wrap around, the bird's flapping grew harsher out of shock. Smacking the manipulated chains out of the way as it rose, as well as relieving the one that had latched in of it's position, at the cost of a few feathers falling out. It let out a powerful screech and all three birds knew it was time to fight back.

The big bird itself started them off, spotting the boy who had pierced it's wings the bird took advantage of his airborne position. This was the bird's domain, not his. With a flap of it's mighty left wing a feather, far larger than the one fired at him previously, rocketed toward him. Primed to pierce him through the belly and throw him toward the ground. Then the bird prepared it's left wing, setting it's sights on the girl who had caused it's brothers to cry out in so much pain. With that done the bird fluttered further upward, launching itself to such a height that launching one's body toward the beast would be a fruitless attempt. Ranged projectiles would have to be used.

Nevermore 1 ~~~~

This bird was enraged, not only had the girl poked fun at the beast by maneuvering her platform, but she had dealt a serious blow to it. Well, if this woman was ice then this bird would be fire. First the bird let out a loud cry, to draw the girl's attention before the larger bird (Nevermore 3) launched it's feathers toward her. Then, with all it's might, the bird flapped it's mighty wings quickly. Letting loose a powerful wind current which arched downward then upward. As it rose beneath the girl it would bring with it scorching embers from the forest fire bellow. Certainly able to burn through her ice block should she not reinforce it.

The bird had however not forgotten the man who had first launched a rocket at it. Without a second thought the bird whipped up another powerful wind, this time sending it through the scorching tree-side bellow. Potentially striking the ninja with a barrage of burning trees. It retained it's distance from the girl, hoping it was out of harms way.

Nevermore 2 ~~~~

This bird, the least damaged of the group, was quite proud of what it's brother had done. Setting the forest ablaze would cause panic, ultimately perhaps drawing more of their kind. As the man with black hair soared through the sky the second nevermore lined up and threw two soaring at the man. (back if you flew facing the giant grimm, front if not) The beast then used it's magpie like vision, scanning the spread fire bellow. It was hard to locate the grounded man with all these flaming treetops. The bird opted that the best thing to do was to aim for a wide area; sending forth two sizeable tornadoes. Each taller than the forest's tallest tree. Hopefully at least one would hit. The bird in it's moving however was now directly in the glasses man's flight path. Too focused on trying to find the man bellow.

Kei immediately regretted using flames as they were reflected back onto him with extreme winds, which set the entire forest blaze. The wave of strong winds and flames came down on him from above. The heat was immense, fueled only by the wind. It burned his entire body as well as severely blinding him. Needing to escape it, Kei grabbed one of the weighted ends of one of the coils of the wire on his belt, and threw it at the top of a nearby tree. The wire wrapped around the tree top securely.

Though the treetop was burning, it hadn't been burning for long, and as such, it should still be sturdy enough to climb. That in mind, Kei quickly hoisted himself up the tree, using a combination of the built in wire re-tractor on his belt as well as kicking his way up the tree. As he did, Kei fired two rockets at Nevermore 1 in rapid succession. One to do damage against it, but two to create an opening for himself as he closed the distance between himself and the Grimm.

As he reached the tree top, the wire wrapped around the top of the burning tree came undone and retracted back into his belt on it's own. As it did, Kei jumped off of the tree, getting himself closer to Nevermore 1. As he did, Kei once again reached into his belt and grabbed the weighted end of the wire he had just used. Within distance, Kei threw the end of the wire towards the neck of Nevermore 1. His intentions were to have the wire wrap around it's neck and choke.

As he did this, Kei sent a high voltage of electricity running through his hands into his wire into Nevermore 1.

Jet was at first happy his strike hit the Nevermore, but he could only curse under his breath when he didn't manage to grab and hinder the wing to make the bird fall down. Still, seeing how the forest was now on fire, Jet didn't complain too much about being thrown away in a direction that wasn't yet in flames. Well, until he realised he was followed by a giant feather, much bigger than the previous one. No way in hell was he going to let himself get impaled on something like that.

He watched it comming toward him and waited for the last moment before kicking the top of it, changing the feather's trajectory toward the ground while at the same time shooting himself upward. He used this chance to spin around and see where he was going, only to spot two more feathers comming his way, one of them directly in his new flight path. "Shi-"

Once againg, Jet was clipped by a feather. This time it didn't hit him full center and by repositionning, his left arm took the most of the shock. Not broken but the sharp tip cut a deep wound as well as send him spinning in the air. Well, if he was going to spin, might as well use it!

Ignoring his wound, Jet extanded his right arm and unleashed his weapon, using the spin he gain while being hit by the feather to launch a full length attack with his weapon on the second of the smaller nevermore back. Once his attack was completed, hit or not, he force himself to stop spinning and watch where he was going. His flight path was straight toward the bird so he reeled in his weapon and launched a flurry of swings, the speed of the attacks enhanced by his semblance to allow him to launch three more slashes in very quick succession.

When the first Nevermore let out a screech, it didn't even occur to Avery that another bird would engage her. A large feather projectile came from underneath, shattering through her platform and grazing her thigh. She winced, confused. Her mind couldn't quite process the fact that these birds were actually working together and not just the usual one target for each bird.

With the platform gone, Avery was sent free-falling. A gush of wind rushed past her and her eyes widened as her worst enemy, red scorching flames, started to rise up from the ground. She was quick to span a thick ice wall before her to minimize the damage. The flames naturally melted through the ice and in no time reached the gunslinger, burning through most of her clothes and unarmoured upper body with nothing but her aura saving her life.

Avery bit her lip hard to prevent herself from crying out. The flames finally subsided and the girl was able to summon another ice platform with the best of her concentration. She collapsed down on it, whimpering and catching her breath in pain. "God d*mn it... that f**king hurts!!!" she growled. Yeah~ Just once in her life she wanted to try saying that line.

Nevertheless, as much as Avery was hurting it wasn't bad enough to render her incapable. With Kei and Shades occupied with their grimm, Avery focused on the third who had ascended to the skies. Her platform shifted to an ice board and she quickly ascended in pursuit of the bird. As she caught sight of its back, she started riddling its body and wings with bullets before her weapons transformed to their gauntlet form. She sped faster and would not stop chasing until she was so close to the bird that she would pull back her arm, shift the barrel to the back and press the trigger, using the flamethrower's recoil to punch the wits out of that bird's head.

Not satisfied, the barrel would shift to the front and release her own blue flames right at its body. The recoil would push her away and gain distance to which she'd shift her weapons back to their guns and ascended higher to rain death on that bird with her piercing bullets.

Nevermore 1~~~

As two rockets launched toward the nevermore, the beast which had been feuding with the blonde human, both made surprise contact. Surrounding the nevermore in a veil of black smoke. The bird had not anticipated the man on the lower ground becoming such a threat, assuming that the efforts of both it and it's brother would have fried him. The beast burst forth from the clouds, rising further into the sky. The man's cord attack, knocked off course by the flapping of the bird's powerful wings as well as miss-aimed due to the blanket of smoke the man had left, served only to point out the little man's location. As if his fear of the flames engulfing him did not draw the bird's attention enough as it was.

There he was, hanging onto the treetops. Assuming he was safe. Without a moment's thought the bird flapped it's right wing, aimed toward him. A burst of air to ignite the tree he was on further, as well as push him back with an epic force. Then, without a hint of mercy, three projectile feathers were shot into the flames. Aimed to pierce the man, potentially pinning him to a tree and trapping him to die.

With that done the bird flew higher. Nursing it's wounds was proving difficult, to roost would guarantee the bird's destruction. Red holes had formed in it's wings. It was having to beat them at twice the normal rate. Eyes were wide and frantically searching, praying not to be struck by an opponent.

Nevermore 2~~~

The Bird caught site of the man, hanging onto the treetops. Immediately the bird launched itself for him, letting out a screech, as such the man's initial spinning attack caught the beast unaware. The second quick slash struck to. However, the bird's launch forward caused the third and forth to miss. The bird quickly altered it's flight pattern, arcing around to the falling boy. The boy was in free-fall, this would be much too easy.

The soaring bird let out a single powerful gust, the wind-current to meet him a good five meters before the treeline. Housed in the powerful air blast were four sharp feathers. The boy would be blown far from his allies and likely impaled multiple times. His falling arc and speed, he could perhaps dodge the feathers but there was no escaping the winds. The bird kept it's eyes focused upon him. Prepared to track him to wherever he landed and finish the job.

Nevermore 3~~~

The largest of the nevermore let out a screech, it's on high position allowing it to watch as the girl attempted to approach. Did she really believe things would be this simple?  That she could just fly up to this god of the sky? No. No. This was blatant disrespect.

The bird beat it's wings as the girl's shots rang through it. Piercing the poor bird's wings. But it would not allow this, the bird would not allow her to come so close. However, with it's wings starting to give out the bird new it's time was up. It's goose was cooked... or rather, hers would be. The bird took advantage of it's great lead on the girl, flapping it's wings wildly to stir up the air currents beneath. The bird was massive you see, it's dominance of the sky unrivaled by any other nevermore it had encountered. As the flames rapidly rose the girl got in close... however, there had been a flaw in her plan. The punch rang out against what remained of the bird's visor and beak. The flames followed. But all the while the bird's wingspan had been making it's way around her. She would have expected to launch freely away from the bird perhaps but this was not the case. As she punched the bird it's wings were brought quickly inward, as she set it alight and attempted to launch backward she would find herself battered into the bulk of the dead bird's body. Trapped for what would come next

The flames rose and would engulf the two of them. The bird, Avy likely trapped inside, began to fall deeper into them. embracing the heat. The burst of flames from the girl had been enough to kill the beast as it was. It was dead before it's own flames hit. This would be it's cremation. After a period of intense burning the flames would once more lower to the treeline. Black smoke now filling the air. What remained of the bird hit the ground as a pile of embers.

Kei

The battle was reaching it's climax, and through the fury of flames from sky demons, Kei couldn't help but grin. Though he would never admit it, though he would never act the part, at heart, Kei was a fighter. What he felt now was the undeniable adrenaline that could only be found amidst an intense battle. In this state battle high, pain meant little to him, his senses heightened, and exhaustion was no issue.

Kei began to run up the side of the tree using the wire as support once he saw Nevermore 1 making its move. As the Nevermore sent a large wave of wind and flames at Kei, Kei reached the spot where his wire was tied around the tree. Doing so caused the wire to come undone around the tree, causing it to fully retract into his belt.

Sparks of blue electricity began to dance across his body as Kei began to use his semblance to boost his speed, accelerating himself. Kei kicked off of the tree at an angle with great force, propelling himself straight into the wave of flames, and right at the Nevermore. Adrenaline rushed, Kei the blinding heat of the flames was nothing more then a minor inconvenience. Kei simply crossed his arms infront of his face to prevent being permanently blinded. As a result of changing his course of movement, only one of the feathers reached Kei, tearing through his trench coat and grazing his right arm, which Kei didn't even flinch at.

Kei burst out of the other side of the flames, his body in a state that made it clear that while the pain itself was lessened, the actual damage on his body wasn't. His hair was singed, and there were holes all across the sleeves of his trench coat as a result of multiple new burns, which went through also burning his arms. The tail of his trench coat was also burned off at the tip. Still moving towards Nevermore 1, Kei pointed his right fist at it and fired two rockets at it, one after another. These rockets served as both as an attack and a screen for Kei's followup actions.

With his left hand, Kei reached into his belt and one of the weighted ends of the coils of wires that he had one him. Kei threw the end of it towards the neck of the Nevermore, with every intention of the wire wrapping around it's neck, choking it. As the wire connected with the Grimm, Kei sent electricity running through his hands into the wire and then into the Nevermore.

If the wire connected, Kei would use the retractive system, quickly pulling himself towards the Nevermore. As he got closer, Kei swung his feet around, flipping himself over the side of Nevermore 1, releasing the mini-harpoon from his left wrist launcher and held in his hand as a makeshift dagger. Landing on the back of the bird, Kei brought harpoon down into it's neck.

Jet Jeyson
It was true, there was no way Jet could dodge the wind blast that the Nevermore launched at him. Therefore, instead of dodging whatever, he decided to play some mind games with the intelligent beast. Or at least, he hoped not too intelligent that it'd realize the trick.

Jet was already hurting pretty much everywhere and had some trouble to breathe but he could still take a bit more. Activating his semblance, he had his weapon move between him and a feather, shielding him partially of the blow from the large, sharp object. He let himself be dragged down by the feather, passing through a tree, but he moved the feather beside him at the last second, the feather digging deep in the ground just beside him, giving the impression from a certain angle that it was going through him. He didn't get impaled but the impact was pretty strong, strong enough to do quite a bit more damage still. Jet waited from that moment. Either the bird would swoop down to finish him off, or it would turn around. One or the other, it gave an advantage to Jet.

After some time, Jet activated his semblance to speed up his weapon and threw his chain at a tree and pulled himself in the air toward the Nevermore. If the bird tried to go to him, he would meet the Grimm very quickly mid-air and potentially slam in it while if it turned away from him, it would miss the black haired hunter flying toward it from behind and end up on the bird's back. Jet slashed his weapon twice at whichever spot he could reach from his position, be it torso or back, before trying to wrap the chain around the Nevermore's neck with an overhead move. Using his flight momentum, he was hoping to deal even more damage when the tension in the chain would tighten the noose and cut deep in the bird's body.

With the flamethrower's recoil, Avery propelled back but was briefly halted by the bird's wings that managed to enclose around her. Instinctively, she shifted her body a little as she was harshly pulled in, slamming her feet hard against its body and pressing her back against the bird's wing to prevent herself from being trapped within the embrace. She didn't have enough time to properly do so which resulted in her left ankle spraining but at least it saved her entire body from being crushed.

Avery caught her breath as she realised the raging inferno was rising from underneath once again. With both her arms free, she fired her flamethrowers downward, using its recoil to slip out of the bird's grip and through the feathery parts of its wings. Now out of the entrapment, her eyes blazed a harsh blue as she summoned an ice pillar beneath her that rose and moved her upward away from the flames. Same trick won't work on me twice.

As she was out out of the flame's way, the top part of the pillar detached and shifted to her ice board, allowing her to manoeuvre towards the second Nevermore. Just as Shades guy finished aiming to wrap his chain around the bird's neck, Avery proceeded to fire her guns at the bird's wings and body. At the same time, she spawned several small needle-like projectiles made of ice which shot towards the bird from all directions. When she was near enough, her guns shifted to their flamethrowers and engulfed the bird's body in blue flames.

Nevermore 1~~~

The panicked bird, scared even more so by it's sudden brother's death, had kept all eyes scanning on the treeline bellow. When the boy's rockets flew from the scorching treeline the bird had only to bat it's wings, launching the rockets askew from the bird. The boy had given his location away, how foolish. Even in this frightened state the bird was far from subjugated, weak-minded attack strategy would not be it's downfall.

As the boy launched his metal wire toward the bird it's wings continued to whip, unfortunately unable to force the coil off-course entirely, instead wrapping whipping into the beast's crest before electricity coursed through the bird. Pushing it to the edge of it's lifespan. The boy still traveling through the air, the bird used the remainder of it's strength to whip up a single wind blast. It had intended for two feathers to enter the wind current, however the bird's body was beginning to deteriorate. Five pointed feathers fell into the current. Two flying straight, three spinning out of control. As this happened the bird began to free-fall. Crashing into the woods, fire slowly chasing toward it.For all it's struggles, for all it's cries, it could not return to the sky. It was a sitting duck, ready to be plucked.

Nevermore Two~~~

There may have been a slight, tiny, hole in the Nevermore's grand plan to deal with the boy. You see, the fire raging beneath the bird made approaching the forest far to hazardous... but at it's current distance the boy was completely obscured from the bird's vision. Trees and flames blocking the way. The bird darted about wildly, circling the skies above where he had landed in hopes of finding him.

The boy found the bird first, diving through the treeline and digging two deep gashes in the bird's breast. Shocked once more the bird's flight pattern became erratic, launching forth a hail of feathers in all directions as it attempted to shake him off. The boy at the bird's chest, his chain brought up and wrapped around the bird's throat. The bird's erratic flying had however created a problem for the blond huntress. Her first volley pierced wings, her needles stuck the bird's neck. However...

As her shots went out, toward the thrashing bird, one of the bullets intended for the bird's chest was aligned to pierce through him. The bird had already begun to drop as her flames atomized the bird's head... even though it was already beginning to turn to dust. The bird met the ground with a thud, quickly turning to ash.

Only it's downed brother remained. Far from it's dead relatives, prime for killing.

Kei

Kei cut the wire that was tied around the wing of the Nevermore, to prevent himself from also being dragged down with the Grimm as it fell and keep his movement from being crippled as the bird sent another gust of hurricane-strength wind at him. It caused him to fall towards the earth at an accelerated speed. On top of this, the gust carried with it large, projectile-like feathers that the dying Nevermore released, sending them flying towards Kei. Kei released the mini-harpoon from his left wrist launcher and grabbed in his left hand, wielding it like a makeshift dagger. He now had one in each hand.

The feather projectiles flying at him faster than he was falling, Using both of the mini-harpoon in each hand as melee weapons, Kei blocked and deflected the first to straight incoming projectiles, protecting himself. His body was worn down from the battle with countless injuries, but in his adrenaline pumped state, Kei kept pushing himself. Another feather projectile, this one flying out of control, was flying at him. Using both of the metal rods in each hand, Kei blocked the projectile, knocking it out of his way. As he did though, a fourth projectile, another out of control feather that was flying irregularly, approached him from his right side. Distracted, and briefly blinded from the blood in his right eye, Kei didn’t see the fourth incoming projectile.

Coming in through his blind spot, the side of the fourth feather projectile which was spinning out of control struck Kei in his right ribcage with a strong blunt blow. Right on impact, it fractured a couple of his ribs. It happened too fast for Kei to even realize what had happen, as the feather impact launched Kei down into the forest, but also knocking him out of the way of the fifth feather projectile. Kei crashed into the side of a burning tree in the forest with enough force to completely break through the scorched bark, going through and breaking the tree on impact. Kei crashed on the other side of the tree into the ground, the blow being the strike that finally took him down, causing him to completely black out. At the moment, Kei was rendered completely unconscious.

It wasn’t the first time Jet ended up on the receiving end of Avery’s bullets, but last time he had convenient ground to pull himself away. He was lucky he saw her shoot though, since he managed to prepare for it. He coiled up his weapon as much as he could by the time the bullet got to him and raised his bracer to deflect the shot with the coiled blades of his weapon. That could have hurt quite a bit considering his current aura levels and the general power of the gunslinger’s weapons.

Well, now he had to land anyway and there wasn’t many trees around to grab on since his falling trajectory put him in an area that , so he decided to try something he hadn’t tried in a long time. Using his semblance, he extended his chain under his feet before trying to lift himself up. It was in these moments he hoped he was more powerful with his semblance so he could fly around like Avery or something. Still, he did manage to slow his descent enough to prevent any damage. The landing was still heavier than he’d have preferred though, prompting him to think he should find a way to boost his output power in controlling metal with his semblance, it was becoming quite obvious that even if he was more focused on precision control, the lack of power was a weakness.

Looking toward his partners, he saw the ninja man had fallen over. “Damnit, aren’t ninja supposed to be untouchable?” Running to him, he saw that the last bird was on the ground. First making sure the guy wasn’t dead, he then ran to the downed Nevermore. Once close enough, he simply sent two regular slashes at it and a pierce finish should the two slashes miss. Since the bird was on the ground, he didn’t think he needed to do more than that and no time for fancy stuff, the unconscious student needed treatment.

Avery's eyes widened as she realised the bullets she'd released were along Shades's position, catching him in her line of fire. She felt relieved instantly seeing him deflect the bullets. Still, the guilt was there; a mistake like that was something she couldn't afford at a time like this. Before she could say anything however, something from a distance caught her attention - Kei free-falling, no, launched down to the burning forest below.

Her eyes glowed a bright blue as Avery shot forward in her board going the fastest she could, aiming to catch him midair but she was too far. He already crashed to the inferno below and the ice-user couldn't even follow suit with the flames proving to be such a threat. Ah screw it. Whatever. She dove down and as expected, the board started to melt as she neared him. A few feet off the ground and the board completely succumbed to the flames causing her to land roughly due to her sprained ankle. Avy huffed and stood up, patting her dirtied clothes.

Seeing Shades handle the last bird, Avery moved to Kei, struggling with her aching ankle and using her semblance to clear her path of flames, drenching the surrounding area with water. Once she reached him, her panic increased seeing him unconscious and was quick to take his pulse to make sure he's alive. She tried dragging him by the back of his collar to a place without flames but failed miserably due to her lack of strength.

"What the crap? How are you this heavy?" Avery groaned and tried once again, moving him only about an inch or two. She scoffed and gave up. "Justin, help please!"

Nevermore

The bird's eyes were hazed, almost unseeing in it's final moments. The flames had began to consume the foul creature, encircling it's wings and smothering what little hope of life it retained. It was more akin to a robin, having hit the windshield of a speeding car, than the a god of the sky as it once was. It was splayed out, unmoving, releasing light gasps and sighs as it was bested by it's injuries. To die in such a way, while it's brothers had gone out fighting... how dishonorable. The bird's pride was plucked. For all their efforts the three brothers had only maybe defeated one of the hunters, perhaps one or two pilots in the crossfire to.

The bird didn't see the blade until it's head was almost gone, the chained blade tore through the bird's neck and down fell the bloody big head and the bloody big beak crumbled to nothing. As the continuing blows rained in the body simply collapsed in upon itself.

It was dead by the first slash but now it's body was devastated. The grimm had been bested by the trio of hunters.
