Zen Capricorn

Zen Capricorn
The classrooms were thankfully accommodating. Zen Capricorn was a large young man and had trouble sitting in the seats back in Vale, but thankfully Syne Academy seemed to have predicted, or prepared for bigger folk such as himself. That was the first thing that ran through the lion's mind, as he entered his class and took a look around. A grin was on his features and he continued to scope the place out a bit.

"Hm, the front maybe? Maybe a row or two up..." He plotted out the best course of action. Simply due to his stature alone, he didn't want to be a big wall that somebody had to struggle to see over. His sapphire eyes scanned over to the seats which formed the curved part of the lecture halls' room and considering that students had to look at an angle, he could seat on the first row and all the way at the wall, to prevent becoming an obstruction. He did just that and preferred to have sat on the right side of the room, closest to the door. Prepared with supplies, Capricorn sat up straight and awaited the arrival of the teacher and the remainder students.

"Lots of talent is going to be in this class, I bet. Might as well see if I can sniff them out." Zen thought to himself with a wide grin and began to carefully look about the bodies in his classroom.

Early is on time, on time is late and being late... is unacceptable. That was her motto as she may have not cared for her classmates that much it didn't mean she wasn't competing them. That precision and punctuality is what made her an elite or in her mind it was. Ice skating as it would seem as she strode throughout the campus at a breakneck pace, as a pale girl would shoot past other students as a ballerina with lightning speed and exact precision.

When she finally did arrive to the class there was only one other student there at the time, sleeping in the back. Of course there were slackers who used this time to sleep. Well, she wouldn't waste her time she immediately took the most front seat while opening her scroll. She also had placed it on a recording mode in which she was able to still take notes while doing so. She placed her chin in her hands imagining all that she was going to learn with a desiring grin looking forward to her class; learning more was her foreplay.

"How is the teacher not here yet?"
she murmured thinking to herself quietly with just faint sighs as she waited several minutes and then heavy sighs as students came pouring into the classroom. She was among the first ones there as evident of the ice trail she left behind but now it matters naught she thought. Taking the seat closest to the teacher's desk as she wanted to be sure she could see the entire board, just because she was a prodigy didn't mean she could slack off.

It was then that a Lion walked in, massive in stature. She was not used to seeing any student so big... and hairy. 'My god' she thought to herself how could anyone be so massive. She kept glancing at him from time to time among the other students. She wasn't used to this many faunus, let alone so many bigger individuals. She could only imagine what kind of character her teacher was. Adjusting her white professional button up and unhooking her rapier and cartridges she sat up straight with an air of professionalism about her, deducing that if the students are coming in now then the teacher should arrive soon.

The doe of destruction skids in thought the door as her shoes squeaking from her slowing down as her limbs where faintly had a blue hue around them.  "this the right classroom?" Abigail pulled out her scroll and tapped around on it her attire was ragged as if she had been in a fight. well if you didn't know any better you think she was in a fight but abigail had a reputation on taring up school uniforms from last year that the teachers now just over look it more because she started running up a large bill for uniforms.  Taking a moment to looked up and started to walk up the stairs.  She stopped and looked up seeing the huge lion faunus in the back. "holly crap what they feed him growing up." escaped her lips as she looked directly at him, then seeing some of the others in the class one in caught her eye the most was the white doe with no horns... she tapped the side of her scroll missing a few buttons making her way up to the back  almost tripping but caught her self enough to turn it  more of her sliding in to a chair. she grunts a little flustered in the face as memories of early flooded her mind. She  and fixed any tares in her uniform to make sure none of them showed much even though she was wrapped around her bust with bandages and short spandex under the skirt. she was tapping her finger on her scroll with one hand on her chin as she waited for the teacher to come in her eye's where fixed on the back of the white does head.

Saffron sat outside with a cigarette danging from his mouth as she stared off into the ether. His eyes shaded by his ever present sunglasses. Though there were things happening in front of him they didn't register to him. Like this he sat, not thinking, not moving, just... being. It was his own form of meditation, he didn't close his eyes nor did he sit in some fancy pose, he just stopped thinking, that was it. Eventually the clockwork of his mind began to move again, and with it came thoughts. He pulled out his pocket watch and checked the time. Wasn't he supposed to be teaching a class right now? Looks like he was a few minutes late, oh well.

Standing from his chair he made for the lecture halls, time to teach. He knew what he was teaching, but had failed to make an actual lesson plan for the day, oh well time to wing it. It wasn't long before he found the room he was to teach in. Rather non ceremoniously he walked through the door and went straight for the desk at the front. His bag made a thud as it slapped the top of the desk. Ignoring the students for the second he turned to the board then wrote on it one word: “Philosophy.” Much to the groan of complaint of several students in the class. A wide smirk came across his face as he turned to the class. “Welcome to the class you probably don't want to be in,” He began, “I am professor May, and I don't care how you feel about this class. I can tell you this though, If you even pay half the attention you do in your combat classes, you will leave smarter than when you stepped in.”

Zen Capricorn

Zen Capricorn
Zen had entered a sort of half-meditative, half-aware type consciousness, where he was able to observe everything around him, yet managed to find that inner-peace within himself. A calm and collected individual, the silence of the classroom was nothing that bothered him one bit. Though, he did expect it to be bustling with students and the like, but that was just his assumption. The lack of a student body that had showed up to class, however, was made up with the fact there were other faunus in the lecture hall. His sapphire eyes crossed gazes with another crimson-eyed young lady, a doe by the look and smell. He just grinned and gave her a friendly wave, before he returned his eyes to the front.

The moment he had done so, Zen was introduced to a rather vocal young lady. Considering he wasn't necessarily sitting in the back, but just in the front row on the far right of the room, he was able to hear her loud and clear. Capricorn just blinked several times and tilted his head in confusion. Was there something about him that made her question what he was fed? The lion was completely oblivious to the fact that she alluded to his stature. His mouth had opened to speak, but when it did the teacher had arrived.

Bag slapped onto the desk and with a colloquial attitude, addressed the class with a rather strong point. He liked this guy already. "Professor May, huh? First teacher I've come across so far... Let's see what sort of philosophy he's all about." Zen said to himself, then sported his trademark grin. It only showed just how enthused he was about the whole situation.

'So soon?' she thought to herself as the doe entered the room. She saw the rose colored cheeks come across that woman's face. She gave the woman a half eyed look with her scarlet orbs following her with a gaze until she went to go sit down. She watched Abigail haphazardly make her way to a seat, sighing slightly as she felt that the doe could have a bit more grace and not fit the sterotype. But she didn't dwell on that so much as she did that this was the second time she ran into her. 'Who knew I'd be seeing her so soon' she kept her thoughts to herself before her glance met up with the Lion's again.

Her doe tail stood up right and pinned to her back as the Lion glanced at her. Her red eyes opened a bit wider as the Lion looked toward her, she gave a sly grin before turning her head away to take a gander at the teacher who came in. She took a small whiff and was immediately disgusted. 'God a smoker' she thought to herself but then after hearing his words she realized he may not just be blowing smoke. She wasn't among the many who just groaned and bitched about learning something, she understood the philosophy behind battle was just if not more important than just learning how to be a bullet sponge or a stick jock.

Abigail attention from the back was brought from her roommate to the teacher when the mass groans hit the air.  listening to his name she remembered he was rather new to the staff as well, an knew nothing about this class.  Actually she skipped a few last year so this was the year she was making them up.  Her attention was drawn away from even thinking about the white doe now  as her eyes fixed on to Saffron.  her fingers  ready to start typing any thing she made need for the class later on.   in the back of her mind she was one of those who did more in battle classes then any other.  so she fit in that group he had mentioned which made her lean back in her seat with a small groan.

Her eyes grazed over the class as she was one of the furthest back in the class, any one down front would have to make an effort to see her. she then soon raised her hand then brought it back down as if to ask a question. but found it better to stay quite she knew nothing of this class. so today was a learning day. it be better if she did stay quite she might trip over her own tongue by how well thinks where going today.

Looking over the class Saffron saw a rather good mix of Humans and Faunus, though the former did outweigh the latter. Several tried to hide their features, or they weren't obvious. Well so far this place had been far less discriminatory to the Faunus than most other places were. He took a commanding yet somehow relaxed stance. Well time to start the lesson.

“Now if you pay attention to most text books, even the one for this class, you will notice that every one starts off with a description of what the subject is, the definition. Most classes follow this trend as well, and I'm sure that by now you know what and why you study things like History and Science and Literature. I prefer not to start with this and instead I will ask you,” Saffron motioned to the entire class with his off hand, “To tell me what you think Philosophy is and why we study it. Try to be brief and too the point. This isn't high school so no need to raise your hand, just speak.”

Zen Capricorn

Everyone griped, everyone bitched, and everyone moaned. Well, mostly everybody, but that was to be expected. No one liked to study and Zen shared that same sentiment, which is why this wasn't studying, but learning. The lion was actually happy to learn, but loathed having to be prepared for anything. His philosophy when it came to schooling, was that if he didn't understand it in class, and the homework still didn't help him, then the hours put into it definitely wouldn't help him. Regardless, he wouldn't show that underachieving attitude to anyone. Only those who knew him (and there wasn't anybody here who did) would likely get that feeling. Even then, it was just a feeling.

Professor May then proposed a question. "What is Philosophy and why do we study it?" A basic question, but the answers would always vary. Was there a definite right answer? More than likely, so Zen decided to speak up and say what he knew of the subject.

"Philosophy stands for 'love of wisdom,' or 'study of wisdom.'" The young man began. "I'd wager we likely study it because we want to see how the different, prominent thinkers viewed the world and reality around them, through the knowledge they gained throughout their lives." Zen's answer was confident and his face serious. His baritone voice didn't boom but was loud enough for everyone to hear.

She waited for the Lions full response before responding with a hushed, "Tsk."  as she believed his answer to be soft. What a first answer, she thought, as she was actually slightly surprised at the man. She thought his answer would be full of battling, heroism, courage and other veiled illusions given his stature and his place as a Lion Faunus. The students in her immediate vicinity heard her and immediately shot darts at her.

This did not bother Angelina as she began to take notes on the male, believing him to be, overall an emotional creature and had his own self-fulfilled wisdom... she bet he believed in things like honor as well. However, she did take note that he was not among those who cried and moaned when the teacher began talking about philosophy. A few others gave their answers, talking about free thinking, how it is the study of life, the actual literal definition of philosophy, or some other cryptic excuse of a non-answer all of which began to just began to annoy her but the only visible indication was soft sighs and slight turns of the head while she continued to write in her notes or type in her scroll.

Once the room got silent again she simply stood up place both her scroll and notebook down, swinging both hands behind her back to obtain a perfect posture. Her deep crimson orbs glancing toward various people in the room before locking them to the teacher. Her tone was callous as if she was speaking from a dictionary despite the question's original intention being a matter of opinion, she spoke as if it was fact. "Without context one can only speculate what you mean by, 'What is philosophy Professor...' Philosophy can be defined as two extremes, form without matter and matter without form. In order to obtain form to matter within nature or our environment lies the core of philosophy as a whole. A movement or shift within nature towards an end. There is no random, everything has an end and function and nothing... is without purpose." After her answer she slowly sat back down closing her eyes to herself before taking a sigh. Her answer may have been too much for the rest of her class this early in the morning but anyone who listened to her could hear her words came from experience, they were not echoes of the opinion of others.

Merlynn just laid her head down listening to every one talk atleast some people had an understanding and some knew way more then others as her head came up after hearing a very noticeable tone. she looked up and go figure the white doe was speaking. an she tried to wrap her head around what both what the lion and the doe said. of course it was going over her head like plane. once the does finished she muttled over what she said and then stood up and she then spoke her mind.

"Alright.... I'm lost... there so many things being said, i don't understand a bloody thing so teacher why not teach rather then us bumble over what is and is not what you want to teach before i fail another one of these classes due to the damn fact I don't do book work well and i'm already for seeing my grade as an f. i'm going to try an aim for a D+." She was honest she had not a clue what this class was meant to teach them, another fact she might have more on her mind then just this one class after all she was the only 2nd year in this class. she sat down leaning forward so she was draped over the desk but able to still see the full class because of being in the back of the class.
