Flash Driver
A large android sat atop a beaten cat’s rooftop, the car itself sitting atop a mountain of broken machinery, idly playing with some old batteries. Just to his side was an old record player, a scratched and broken plate spinning slowly. Letting out a scratchy blare. He wasn’t quite sure why he’d been drawn back here, maybe it was some kind of nostalgia. Perhaps he was just looking for somewhere to blend in…

Geez, such heavy thoughts. Maybe something was a little wrong. He gently caressed the batteries little nubs, enjoying the tickling sensation of mild electricity. It was Shocking how much he enjoyed it, to think he could get a high like this free of Charge. He stood up, dents sinking deeper into the car’s roof, as the track changed. An almost swing like beat, pretty fast... he kind of liked it. He cast an optic over his body, paintwork scratched and dented in places. He supposed it had been some time since he’d shown his shell any real love, was too busy looking after other people’s bodies.

He leapt from the car’s roof, tumbling down the metal hill like a child rolling down a snowy hill. As he approached the bottom one of his optics caught sight of the item he was looking for, hands digging deep into the pile to slow his decent. He clambered back up a little, grasping the item he sought. This mound in particular was made predominantly from paint cans, it was no surprise that he had found the very colour of his body. A pop of the lid showed there were around two inches left. More than enough to cover his little scars. A little further rolled and he found a second item, a hammer. Perfect for getting those dents out.

He sat himself at the bottom of the hill, still able to faintly sense the music, and unhitched his right arm. Pinning it between his legs the droid began to analytically wail on the limb, straightening out its creases with pinpoint accuracy. That done he reattached the arm, flexing and twisting all of its joints to be sure all was in working order. He performed the same with his left arm, it too was soon straightened out. He did the same with his legs and a few little bumps on his body.

That done the droid took to the paint can dipping his fingers inside and coating his plating in one of his favourite colours. He looked as good as new, armour and body restored… however…

He scanned the area, quickly finding what he was looking for. He rushed along, skipping merrily through the metallic wasteland. Not too far away he came to an old couch, the stuffing sticking out as well as springs. He collected some of the fluff, using it to insulate and line the compartments in his body. That way he could empty them if he had to store items, but they were also helping to support his body and retain his heat levels.

Feeling refreshed, like a child awaking on the first day of the New Year, he began to make his way toward the Junk Yard’s exit. Remembering he was supposed to go back to school for a summer lesson.
