Curiousity killed the cat

Free period. What does that mean? Simple: sleep. As of now, Wynter was on top of a tree, laying on her stomach on a tree branch with her legs and arms hanging off freely, snuggling her head along the branch as well. It isn't so much of a surprise that Wynter would always fall asleep during the day. It was just natural for her. There wasn't really a good reason to it; it just happens. At night however, she treats it as if it was already daytime. She would always sneak herself out of the dorms and explore the town as it is. Too bad it wasn't nighttime. Otherwise, Wynter would be pulling off all sorts of stupid stunts and would never bother getting herself caught. Hopefully, at least.

Wynter's tail twitched around gently as she continued to sleep. "Nyaaa...nn..." She quietly meowed to herself, with a big grin lying down on her lips. "Ma-Maybe one more bite wouldn't hurt..." She mumbled in her sleep, softly waving her arms around. She was in nothing more than kitty paradise with infinite tuna to eat, nothing more than what a kitty would ask for.

Richard slumped down under a tree, deciding that he had endured enough work for today. He stretched and yawned, his right arm and back giving out satisfying cracks. He reclined under the tree, reaching for his pocket to pull out a tattered old copy of the Hobbit. He flicked through to the dog eared pages, he realised that he should probably just invest in a bookmark. "Meh, I'll get one later" he told himself. He set his music player and was reaching for his headphones when he heard a mumbling from above. Looking up he saw a girl, clearly a faunus, sleeping atop a large branch. Why he hadn't thought of doing that before he had no idea. He bared his claws and stuck them into the tree and began his assent, finding footholds where possible. He quickly scaled the tree and took a seat on the branch opposite her. He slumped back against the trunk and began to read.

Slowly opening her eyes, Wynter's drowsy eyes were being shown only half open. It looks like the kitty had finally awaken from her little nap. In her current position, she stretched out her arms and legs, with her tail standing up straight and high. "Nyaaaaaa......" She yawned, followed by a purr lasting for only a mere few seconds. As Wynter tried to gain sight to her eyes, she then noticed a boy sitting down across from her, reading a book. Should she go say hi? Should she ask what book he's reading? Obviously Wynter knew nothing about the boy, nor did she have any plans of getting to know him. It would be best for her to simply take her leave and do her business elsewhere. But for the simple fact that she was actually a little bit in a good mood due from her peaceful nap, maybe she can try to approach regularly to the boy.

Twitching her nose with her ears slightly twitching, Wynter got herself together by standing up like a regular human being. Leaping from one branch to where the boy was, she then walked towards him until she was in front of him. Once she was in front of him, Wynter then got herself into a sitting position; like a cat. It was a habit; a horrible habit that was needed to wash away. "Hey, nyaaa'cha reading?" She asked while yawning in mid sentence.

Richard had been so engrossed in his book that he hadn't even herd the girl approach, but when she spoke up he wacked the back of his head off the tree trunk, surprised and only just staying atop the branch. He clung to the back of his head his thumb keeping his place in the book, the taller girl had surprised him, he had been sure she was in a deeper sleep. Looking up at the very cat-like girl he unceremoniously grunted;

"The Hobbit, found it on the way here."

He quickly checked himself over, making sure the girl hadn't robbed him while he was distracted, she certainly seemed surefooted enough up here to do so. She hadn't, his compact chess set, weapon and dust were still there. Looking at her for a second time she appeared to be about as tired as he was though she was far quicker to show it. Her sitting position was... awkward to say the least. He crossed his own legs, pulling them up from either side of the branch.

It looks like as if she accidentally caught the boy by surprised, only hurting himself by the back of his head with the tree trunk he lied against on. It also looked like he wasn't really aware of her presence, probably because the boy was into the book he was reading. Whoops. Well, at least he didn't fall off. The impact caused Wynter's ears to just slightly flinch, with her tail standing stiff for a moment. She was at least lucky she had enough control to actually stay calm from the impact, rather than jumping up in shock and having Wynter herself fall out of the tree instead.

Once the boy introduced the book's title to Wynter, she couldn't help but just give a confused look. "The Rabbit?" She asked. She wasn't entirely awake as of yet, so it was a high chance she didn't catch the book's name at all. "I'm guessing you're some sort of rabbit lover, nyaaaaa guess?" She asked, yawning once more.

Richard was confused by the girl and her antics. He couldn't help but chuckle though, he loved eating rabbit but a whole book on them alone? Might be a bit much. He'd eat them but reading about them would probably be boring besides he wasn’t as into factual books anyway, much preferring fantasy or sci-fi. She really must be tired he realised. Her yawn was contagious, as a result he yawned as he did he cracked his arms behind his back and stretched his neck.

"Not the rabbit, the Hobbit" he replied, pointing to the title on the front of the book, "It's a fantasy book."

He dog eared the book and flicked to some of the pages showing pictures of orcs, hobbits, dwarfs and even various locations from throughout the books' world holding the book so she could see. His stubborn nature wouldn't let him give up on informing her, even if she didn’t really care.

"Oh, the Hobbit.." Wynter said, understanding the title better. Whoops. It was also mentioned it was some sort of fantasy book. By all means, Wynter wasn't really a reader, or at least during the day time. She wouldn't say she would be bored of the book; just not interested at a time like this. At least she can act like it, right?

Wynter wrinkled her nose as she looked at the pages filled with sorts of magical creatures; half she doesn't really know. "So... what's this book about exactly?" She asked.

Richard was surprised she was even vaguely interested, he’d honestly expected her to vanish at the mere mention of the book’s title probably to rest elsewhere. He flicked back to the first page, hoping the introduction would help his explain it, along with the picture of Bilbo himself in the shire.

"The book, at least as far as I’ve gotten, is about a young man, a hobbit named Bilbo, going on an adventure along with some dwarfs to slay a dragon and reclaim a lost kingdom. It’s not the best I’ve read but it’s… decent, could do with more character development" He admitted, "I've read the sequels already so I kind of already know the ending, but it’s nice to finally bridge the gap."

He had no idea why he was telling her any of this, maybe it was because he was bored, maybe it was because he hadn’t really talked to anyone but needless to say the conversation had him interested.

Listening to the boy's explanation, Wynter couldn't help but chuckle at the character's name, "Bildo". She had a wild imagination going on inside her head. She also couldn't help but yet again, wrinkle her nose at the story's plot. She can at least agree that it's definitely not the best book the boy has ever read.

"Nya kidding it's not the best book you've read based on that plot. Anyone can do that type of crap, really. The plot's not even that interesting and could be easily rearranged that type of stuff and still sell millions, or something." She snorted with a meow at the beginning of her sentence. In her opinion, she felt the plot of the book was just cliche.

Twitching her tail, "Oh by the way, name's Wynter." She introduced herself. Well, the best thing Wynter can say right now would be an introduction of herself, right?

"My name is Richard, Richard Lionheart” he introduced himself, “And I certainly agree, the book is kind of dull, makes you wonder how it launched a franchise so large with such a tiny rather cliché book. Why they made so many more books let alone movies I have no idea."

He had stifled a laugh at her meows, it wasn't common even for faunus like them. flipped the book over, looking at the blurb. He had found the book sitting atop a wall, an old tattered copy likely left by a child or dropped out the bag of a passer-by who was thinking of other things. He probably should have just left the book and went to the library but he was too lazy for that stick. Instead opting for this tattered old book rather than something more interesting. He should probably put it back upon his return.

"I doubt it’s easy though, even with a lacklustre plot like this, keeping your characters in check and knowing how much detail is enough."

Richard Lionheart, huh? "Richard Nyanheart." Wynter repeated the name just to get it clear with yet another meow. Her speech and pronunciation can get the best of her. Whoops. But who can blame her? She just so happened to be a cat, after all. Well, no completely but hey. "Honestly, I can never understand why people would find this book to be good with overusing the theme." Wynter scoffed, with her ears twitching. Then again, it's not like Wynter actually has some sort of interesting in reading, or at least fantasy. Her viewpoint on fantasy can always differ.

"Well, I guess there's some sort of credit for the characters and stuff, nyan." Wynter mewed with a yawn, stretching her arms and legs out. "But it's still no excuse for an overused theme to write about." She added, as she wrinkled her nose.

Eli wandered through the woods with a purpose, she was on a hunt. She needed to kill something, specifically a Grimm. Not a specific Grimm in general, but she was bored and there wasn't really anything going on at the academy. Besides, Eli preferred a more "hands on" education. Things were more fun that way. Plus it meant that Eli got to experiment with more Grimm parts. Eventually she'd develop a really cool weapon out of them, just you wait!

Unfortunately though... she had no luck up to this point. These woods seemed devoid of all life, not just Grimm. It was starting to get depressing in here as there was nothing really going on in these woods. Nothing interesting to look at besides trees, trees, and OH WAIT... trees. This loneliness was all to familiar to Eli and she was about to turn back when she heard sounds. Specifically the sound of conversation. There was people here! And... a cat? What the hell? Why would someone bring their cat here? There were Grimm out and about, something could happen to it... With a sigh Eli set off to go inform whoever was there that feeding their pets to Grimm counts as animal abuse, and that they shouldn't be out here in the first place. It is her job as a huntress to keep them safe as it is.

Eli was rather loud as she deliberately stepped on branches and rustled leaves as she approached the people. Trying to make herself sound as big as possible while staying out of sight of the people nearby. She then made loud growling noises not unlike an Ursa. The plan was to scare those people and their cat off so that they'd go home where it is safe. And hey, if they left the cat in the woods, free cat! Eli started daydreaming of taking care of a cute kitty. She'd name it Mixie... She continued to make noises like a particularly large Ursa was nearby as her thoughts drifted off elsewhere.

Richard shifty slightly to avoid the girl’s reaching limbs, tilting his head to the left. Richard Nyanheart? He’d been called worse, he shrugged to himself. Her infectious yawn caught him once again and he let out a loud yawn, not even trying to stile it. Suddenly he heard what sounded like an, albeit clumsy and annoyingly loud, child Ursa. Where there was a child there was bound to be a parent, or maybe even a whole pack of them. He looked over from his viewpoint to see a girl in some sort of trance stomping on twigs and rustling bushes as she roared and screamed, mimicking the bear like grimm. Unsure of what to make of this he turned back to Wynter, "Something like that might make a more interesting book. Or at least an interesting character" he told her, pointing to the strange girl, "I’d read it, it’d be called Ursa Girl or something like that."

Wynter's ears perked up and twitched in disturbance as she heard some sort of loud roar, awfully familiar to an Ursa. Automatically, the feline was ready to jump out of the tree and fight the Grimm-like creature roaming about. Although she doesn't have her weapon on her, Wynter can still shock someone. Electrocuting stuff was a fun activity for the young feline along with just having her semblance alone and strength, so being out in the forest without her weapon wasn't entirely for the most part a problem for Wynter to worry about.

Checking around to see if the actual creature itself was around, Wynter's eyes only found what seems to be a human girl imitating an Ursa by the looks of it. The feline's ears couldn't help but drag themselves down in disappointment. Damn it. Although Wynter's ears were down, her tail began to flicker about with annoyance. This disappointment was getting to her a little quickly than expected.

Shifting her eyes back to Richard after hearing his comment about the girl, Wynter couldn't help but let out a cat-like chuckle despite her attitude. "Well, I'll give her some credit for getting the sounds and imitations right I guess." She responded, twitching her nose. As of now, Wynter was rather curious why the girl was... well, doing whatever she was doing.

"Nya! Ursa girl! Up here!" Wynter called to the girl to at least try to get her attention, making use of Richard's title idea of a book, or a character.

Richard was certain that Ursa-girl was a comic book, it had to be. How could someone have not made up a comic like that? But was she the hero or the villain? Perhaps an anti-hero would fit the namesake best. He’d check at the library after he’d replaced the hobbit, but he doubted they’d stock it. They didn’t stock many comics at all. Turning back to the girl he was sat beside he realised just how much taller than him she was. He had never been very tall but this girl was more than a head taller than him. Twas probably a bad sign of things to come if the first person he’d conversationed with was that much taller than him. Well, at least from the looks of it, he was taller than Ursa girl though so he had that to keep his pride up but she was just about the only person he’d seen smaller than him. He had come to the conclusion he was almost certainly the shortest boy here. He turned back to the forest "Oi, Ursa-girl, what're you doing?!" he shouted, hoping the girl would hear them this time.

(OOC: Sorry, this time of year is SUPER busy for me, my dad's birthday n' other things happen RIGHT before Thanksgiving so I kinda just focused on my NPC posts so I could have time to get other things done as well.)

Eli was spotted! She heard two voices call out to her and instantly dived into some bushes to hide. If she was right the voices came from.... above! Eli looked up and spotted two things. One of which was most definitely NOT a cat... well at least in the normal sense. Rather, it was a white haired Faunus girl who kept making the cat noises. Eli was slightly disheartened at that thought, no Mixie for her... but oh well! The other person was a guy with short spiky hair and apparently hasn't shaved recently.

Eli still had a responsibility to protect these people though so she gathered herself and walked out of the bushes. Bringing a closed hand up to her face she coughed once. She forced herself to sound businesslike "It's starting to get late. You two might want to start heading home. It would be bad if a grimm attacked you on... my... watch?" Eli's statement trailed off into a question. "You two are students aren't you?" That would make sense why they are in this forest then. "Nevermind!"

Eli dashed towards the tree and scrambled up it, eventually arriving at the branch above the two other people and sitting down. Her feet dangling off the side of the branch and her hands set out in front of her to prevent anyone from getting an upskirt while she kicked her feet. "Sooooo~ What are you two doing in this forest anyways?"

Wynter watched as Richard also called out to the girl, followed by the girl then diving into the bushes. And the feline thought she herself was the weird one, acting all cat-like and such. Watching as the girl then came out of the bushes, apparently came on all businiess-y like or whatever, telling the two they should go home, until a realization came to mind that these two were both students. All the feline did was just simply watch the Ursa girl, tilting her head in confusion.

With the girl climbing up just a branch above the two, she then asked what were the two doing. "Well, me and Richard here," Wynter said, pointing at the boy. "Were talking about nya Rabbit, and then came the arrival of the Ursa girl." She said, pointing at the other girl herself, getting the book title wrong once again. But hey, they both had the word "bit" in it, so everyone wins, right?

"Wynter means the hobbit" he quickly translated, holding up said book, "And yeah we're not doing a lot, just relaxing really."

The girl had thought they weren't students and had tried to boss them around? Told him a bit about her personality. If she tried to command him now then he'd probably get annoyed and maybe even end up fighting. He flipped back through the book, he had only just realized that despite the lackluster plot the book was fairly well illustrated and had the occasional two page spread littered at the book's center. Maybe this was a special edition, if so then he should definitely return it. It just depended if he felt like walking after this, he might waste too much time up here and be late. He let rip another yawn scratching his back against the tree as he did so, content.

"So why're you here then?" he asked, settling back into position.
