Sirius Saffir [Completed]

 I was born to servitude. The gentry and men far above my station surrounded me, yet, my family only resided in a hamlet about the chateau of our lord. He had soldiers and not many grimm ever bothered us because of him. Our lord taught me that the world of men was far  more perilous than that of grimm, though. I lived with my grandfather and mother, as my father died long ago to an illness that ravaged our village, one which we still cannot pinpoint the origins of, but I have my suspicions of its timing around that time of civil unrest surrounding the time it happened. Anyway, my grandfather was a huntsman long ago, however, a debilitating injury had long since forced him to retire here, back home. Despite his service, as well as that of several others in our land, the Tyrant-Lord treated us as slaves. We tended the land, cleaned his castle, and all around lived under his boot heel, but we had nowhere else to go. Our lord took great advantage of that.  His daughter however... She was well educated, and several years older than me. She was kind and taught me how to read, write, complete arithmetic, and even philosophize. This, of course, was in secret and against her father's wishes, but I still cannot for the life of me comprehend why she tutored me. Perhaps it was luck that she chose me and no one else, maybe she respected my grandfather in some way and chose to help me, his kin. Only she could answer that I suppose.

 I'm rambling, excuse me. Let's look back at my family for a moment. I actually did not see much of my mother either, as she often spent time in the town inn trying to earn a keep to allow our family to continue to live on our lands. She did good work, and always made sure that we survived. My grandfather was... different, in a way. He was a rebellious, impetuous, and stubborn man, and when the lord learned of my tutorship, my grandfather was behind me fully and refused to allow his men to bully us or throw me out of the village. At least, not until I was an adult. I was 15 when I was told that I was to be banished from my home when I was able to survive. That was when my training began.

 Did I forget to mention how cynical my grandfather was? A very "glass half-empty" kind of fellow. He told me that I would die alone if I didn't know how to survive on my own. I took his cynicism as a challenge back then, and I suppose that's what made me how I am now. He unlocked my aura, and I soon after was barred from going near our crops for fear of killing the fields until I learned to control it. In time I did, but by the dust do I hate the cold now. He trained me in combat, survival, logistics, and everything else under the sun. I especially enjoyed designing my weapon. Simplicity at it's finest is the way to go sometimes.
All that for three long years, and all the while the Tyrant-Lord (I actually don't even remember his name, ha) was trying to make life for me and my family the worst that he could. We were his example, he wanted us to stay stupid and subservient to him, and I challenged that idea. His men ruined our fields, made a mess at my mothers inn, and spread rumors about my grandfather. Quite frankly, I couldn't wait to leave that life behind, as selfish as it may seem.

 Three years later, here I am. I left that village and applied to Syne academy. I will become a huntsman like my grandfather, and ensure that there is no place that suffers like those lands that we tended. For now I will bide, time shall pass, and I shall grow. That is the beginning of a story, just starting.

"Oi. Yer a wee bit young to be a mariner arn't ye." A gruff voice resounded across the room Sirius chose to stare to the boundless ocean horizon. "Lemme ask ye what a youngster like yerself is doin' aboard this vessel."

 Sirius had found himself a separated room with an open view to lean against and ponder the implications of the future that would begin to unfold before him. He had wished to go unnoticed until the anchors fell into port once more. He sighed and glanced over his shoulder and saw one of the crewmen of the ship.
"I'm just travelling a bit. I came from a sequestered village and I needed some time to get away from it." He lied partially. Honestly, he would feel embarrassed to admit his folly that he'd been banished from his home. He pulled his hood up over his head, at least hoping to communicate that he would like to be left alone for right now.

 "Aye... aye. The village life ain't so bad though. I can say that I came from a hamlet around bouts..." The sailor rambled and leaned against the doorway, blocking Sirius' only escape route. This was going to be a long journey.
