Life seems to like throwing curveballs to mess with everyone.

Thus encompassed the thoughts of one snow-white fox as he strolled along the edge of Kompress Beach. Such a shame that his first time here would be under such dire times. He would be sure to bring his Arty here when things calm down slightly. He was not alone in this venture, as hunters and huntresses as far as the eye can see traversed the entirety of the beach to help find the missing princess.

Sighing, James took his scroll from his pocket and dialed a certain number. "Sorry for calling at this time, but I have a favor to ask of you." A feminine sounding voice was heard coming from the receiver, shouting in displeasure. "Yes, yes. I know, I know. I'll do a show. Book it for next week. I just need some eyes looking around. Keep Artemis safe and look for anything weird." A humph came in response and a soft affirmation came after. The boy smiled and thanked her for doing so much. She waved him off and wished him well before ending the call. He returned his scroll to his pocket and sighed once more. Ms. Belle was a piece of work, that's for sure.

His stroll continued to find any signs.

Sand. Sand. Sand. Oh look, a hermit crab!

Rolling his eyes as a light chuckle escaped his lips, the young hunter kept his morale afloat through sarcasm and light-hearted observation. Despite the tense situation befallen on the kingdom, there will always be some form of light: kids laughing, teens out partying, adults enjoying the calm evenings. James breathed in the cool, crisp air and exhaled in peace. His search did not come up any positives but he won't quit just yet. There has to be something. He had already walked to the end of one side of the beach, nothing but sand and discarded wrappers and bottles. He frowned at the thought of people carelessly leaving their trash on such a lovely beach, where it could be washed into the ocean.

Now, the faunus was on his way to the other side of Kompress Beach and it certainly is quite the journey. While he may have above average stamina, even he was a little winded from the light jog. Good exercise though, and nothing that a bit of water will help.

So lost in his thoughts, the hunter did not even realize that he had stumbled upon the entrance of a cavern, so imagine his surprise when he stumbled onto neither water nor sand, but some pretty solid rock. The boy groaned as he removed himself from floor and took a look into the the nice looking cave. It was very dark, heading deeper into the cave. So with a whip of his scroll, he activated the flashlight option and began exploring.

"Is there really nothing here?"

With nothing but cave walls surrounding him, even a whisper echoed loudly in his ears. So far, the cavern trip has been for naught. Endless walking with only footsteps and the occasional water drips to keep him from going insane. To help even further, he began to hum a small tune - something cheerful and light to contrast this drab atmosphere.

Sooner or later, the young hunter found himself at a split. Before him was a path to the right and a path to the left. Groaning, James pinched the bridge of his nose at the idea that he has to make a choice. To make sure he could come back to this place, he activated a glow stick and left quite a few at the entrance - they glowed for a relatively long time so they should still be there by the time he returned. Eventually, he decided to bite the bullet and went through the right path. He did not know what it will lead, but hey...

Right is sometimes right, right?

"AHHHHHHHH!"

The screams of James Gray echoed throughout the cavern he was in. Not only had the path been a dead end, he found a nest of spiders and immediately bolted back the way he came. He hated this place, he really did. There is nothing he wants more to collapse this cavern onto itself. The only thing that stopped him from blowing this to kingdom come was the possibility of instability on the land above. He was not sure if there were any buildings above him and he did not want to risk any damages.

The boy blessed the gods above as he saw the glowing green lights of the glow sticks, marking his return to the entrance of the split paths. Exiting his tunnel, his stood next to the glow sticks and turned to yell once more into the right path. He yelled until he needed to stop for more air. Taking a deep breath, he pulled out a canister of water and took a gulp, refreshing his tired throat and re-energizing him once more. He wiped his mouth clean, put away the canister and ventured into the left path.

I mean, what else could go wrong?

"Wonder where this path will take me."

The boy sincerely hoped to whomever is watching him from above that he this path lead him somewhere good. The journey has been complete bollocks so far, and he was all the more desperate to be done with it. There was only so much that a fox could take, after all. His pristine white tail had been marred with dirt, staining his coat of fur ash gray and black. Once this cavern trip is done, he was going home. Home to his baby sister, home to a lovely warm bath. Maybe some bath bombs added in. He certainly deserved it.

Grumbling and annoyed, he took notice of foreign light entering his vision and temporarily blinding him. After a moment to adjust, it finally registered that there were torches planted along the walls of the cavern. Success! Progress had been made and renewed energy sparked his movement. It was a long tunnel of twist and turns, but it did not matter. He ran and ran, until he came to stop. In front of him was a wall, and buried into the wall, was a door. That was all the proof he needed. All the reasoning to believe this was the entrance to the lair. He took his scroll and called the authorities to alert them and the royal family, even going so far as sending pictures of the area.

With that done, he went to make leave of this godforsaken cavern.
