Heroism With A Side Of Hysteria [Private Hunt]

Maestus

Maestus
The sound of heavy feet pounding against the ground could be heard for quite some distance through the forest as Maestus excitedly began her first hunt.  She had heard rumors of some unidentified Grimm in the area and that nobody had been sent out to deal with the threat yet.  Sprinting across the forest floor, the android let out a thrilled yell as she searched for her target.  Whatever it was that she would be chasing after, it definitely knew she was coming.  Normally, Maestus would utilize her ability to sneak up on the enemy for a situation like this, but this was one of the few times she'd be able to fight something without holding back.  If she got the drop on it and destroyed it instantly, what fun would that be?  She might as well tear up a practice dummy or something if she were to do that.

Laughing the whole way, Maestus continued into the forest, searching between trees and climbing up to get a better view occasionally, but mostly just running around the area aimlessly.  Her only expectations for this hunt was for the Grimm to be challenging enough for her to enjoy herself.  "Where are you?  Come on out!  I'm just some poor defenseless person lost in the woods! No? Not convincing?"

Nevermore

Nevermore
On this plain regular day, two predatory birds were flying above the blue trees of Finnek Forest, looking out for an easy prey to surprise and slaughter for their simple amusement. While the element of surprise would probably be diminished by their massive size, their wing span was about 20 meters each, with one slightly larger than the other, the fact that they were far above the ground gave them an indisputable advantage over any ground-dweller.

The giant crows finally ended up finding their target after some time, a single person roaming around apparently aimlessly as they were running around and scream which easily attracted the attention of the two Grimms as they flew right above her preparing for their assault. The smaller of the two began the attack, it waited for the next moment the person would randomly climb up one of the trees before striking, diving at them at high speed before swiping its talons directly at her before maneuvering back up, circling around the trees. Meanwhile the bigger Nevermore slowly went down to get closer to its target before unleashing a barrage of feathers, coming down like a rain of oversize arrows around the area where the hunter was before flying back up and away from the trees. They had a clear advantage and they needed to keep it, so both Grimms stayed in the air as much as possible, staying alert for any movement.

Maestus

"Yes! YES!"  This barbaric android was finally going to slaughter some Grimm.  She has her prey all to herself for the first time since coming to Syne.  As the first Nevermore dived downwards to try and claw at Maestus, she responded by jumping into the beast before it was ready, delving her claws into it's body.  Although, the claws did meet their mark, Maestus wasn't one to let a few scratches stop her.  Using her claws to keep her hold on the creature, she began to kick at it's underside, forcing her claws into it, again, again and again.  Even though she didn't have this planned, her sudden attack was actually a pretty good way to avoid the other enemy's attack, too.  The feathers were aimed at her while she was on the ground, not at the Nevermore she was currently clinging to.

This was a new and welcome experience to the combat-starved android.  The only real fights she's had so far were against students, and she always felt guilty for causing so much harm to another person.  Sure, she had fought Grimm before, but those were with other students to back her up, so there wasn't a real sense of danger.  But now, there was a long lost familiar feeling within her.  There's an actual amount of danger in this fight.  Nobody would be coming to help her if her arms came off like her father did, and getting knocked out would mean the death of her if the Grimm kept attacking her unconscious body.  "This feels so RIGHT."

Nevermore
A screeching squawk came out from the beak of the first Nevermore as the person's claws pierced its skin. This hunt would be a little more hazardous then expected, but there was no way that the Grimm would let itself become a kebab this easily. Before the hunter could start kicking her own claw to force it deeper, the giant bird began to spin on itself rapidly, trying to use the centrifugal force of the spin to throw its assailant away towards the ground, the first kick managed to connect though, but only giving the will to the beast to spin harder to finally get rid of the hunter. While she's falling down, the Grimm throws feathers like its companion before, wanting to avoid getting close from her in the future. Letting its friend know by bird sounds and head motion, the two would keep their distance from now on.

While staying away from the hunter's reach was the plan, it would be hard to attack if they couldn't see her with all those trees down below, so the larger Nevermore decided to dive down but not in an attempt to attack their prey but in order to raze down the forest enough to be able to see where their opponent would be. Using its size and its wing span, the bird collided with the trees, tearing them down as it went making up for a rather large clearing as it drew circles around the spot that the first Grimm sent the hunter by throwing her off. Hopefully this would be more helpful to them than her and maybe the falling tree would get her stuck or hurt her a little, even if not by much.

As Maestus began to plummet towards the ground, she positioned herself so she could see her prey before they attacked again. After a moment, she crashed into the dirt, stunning her for a split second before she was able to move again. Unfortunately, this wasn't soon enough to keep her from getting a feather right in her torso. Maestus quickly dove behind a tree, letting the feathers hit wood instead of metal. As she slowly pulled the feather out of herself, an idea came to mind. Well, more like a memory. Quickly dashing out of cover, she threw the first feather at the same Nevermore she wounded earlier. Without even looking to see if she hit her target, Maestus would repeat this process again and again, throwing spear after spear at the same creature. "You woke the wrong dog."

She wasn't sure about how she was going to fight the other one. Those creatures seemed to have some form of intelligence, so repeating the same attack over and over might not work in her favor. Unsure of what to do next, Maestus assumed a sprinter's position, ready to get out of the way or chase after the enemy whenever she needed to.

With now the area cleared, it was far more easier for the tow giant crows to keep watch on their target. It seemed like the first Nevermore was able to damage their prey a little, but she was obviously not ready to give up although it was clearly helpless at this point if the two birds were to stay up above in the air. As she tried to reach the first one with its own feathers by throwing them back at it like javelins, it was the easiest thing to counter. Flapping its wings to create a powerful gust of wind, each single feathers that were thrown upward were sent back down, not in a way to be harmful to the hunter below but at least it wasn't a threat for the Grimms.

The problem was now to deal with her, with the second Nevermore's little clean up of the trees, it gave the girl a lot of cover to hide behind which made throwing feathers nearly useless and no way either of them would risk to get close to her. They needed another way to deal with her without being in her reach. There was only one thing that could work at this point, and they were scattered all over the place. The two crows lowered themselves towards the ground before each grabbing broken trees with their talons, the first one grabbing a large tree and the second clinging to two halves, before circling around to give a good swing to those oversize sticks before throwing them towards the hunter. They were bigger so they would probably pack a bigger punch, enough for whatever cover she was hiding behind to not be able to protect her entirely from such a massive projectile. The Grimms positioned themselves on opposite sides, hoping to minimize her escape routes.

Maestus

Maestus
Maestus screamed out in fury at her failed attempt to damage her enemies, but now was not the time to be angry with herself. The birds were attacking again. The android sprinted out of the way of the first tree with ease before a thought came to her head. Why was she dodging such a large and slow attack? These won't cut her open if she tried to catch them, and she knew for a fact she was more than strong enough. On her journey to Syne, she was hit by a truck and barely had a scratch on her, even being able to lift it up off of another victim. As a half of a tree was thrown to her, Maestus began to quietly chuckle to herself as she caught the thing with both of her hands, blocking the other half with the same tree, her feet digging into the relatively soft ground under her. Pulling her feet out of the dirt, Maestus began to jog before throwing both of the tree halves at one of the birds.

For the first time in her life, Maestus threw a tree at another living being. Sure it took a while and didn't let her do anything else aside from that, but still. That has to be an accomplishment, right? As the thrill of battle and the sense of accomplishment flowed through her, Maestus's dialogue became more and more unhinged. "Shut UP! No! NO!" Maestus began to sprint in the direction of the other Nevermore, the one she hadn't been focusing on this entire time.

If there was something that Nevermores were used to see everyday were trees as they were all across the land everywhere they went, but never would any of them be used to see them being chucked by someone the tenth of the size of said tree. While those large chunks of wood were, well, large and pretty slow compared to regular things thrown at them like bullets and arrows, the element of surprised that the makeshift thrown had was enough to make contact with its target and while it would be easier to dodge the second one right after the first, only one had been necessary to fell the giant bird and it slowly vanished into the wind.

Seeing its brethren being slain, the second Nevermore screeched loudly before glaring upon the figure that was now running in its direction. Circling a bit in the air, it flew above her and beyond towards a rock that had been released from the ground by the trees being rammed down when it flew into them earlier. Grabbing the rock with its two talons it began to flew back towards the hunter before throwing the rock at them, flapping its wings to push it faster don't at its target before getting some more altitude to avoid any direct retaliation from the small hunter.
