Alexander Davis

Alexander Davis
”Hm… this should do.” Alex thought as he designed a holographic obstacle course on his scroll while he sat in the living room of his humble home. When the classes resumed the professor’s first class of the semester was going to be an obstacle course that the entire class was going to go through, intended to test their motor functions, problem solving skills, and their ability to work in a team. For them to pass they all had to make it through the course, but their individual performances would also be graded. However Alex was a little worried if Lucy would be able to make it through the course… mainly because she had a tendency to run into door frames. Either her eyes became unfocused when she was in a panicked state, or her motor functions needed improving. However with her capacity to learn Alex hoped that she would be able to learn how to move around better if she went through an obstacle course a few times and that would fix the problem so she’d be able to keep up with her class mates. If that didn’t fix the problem he wasn’t sure what he’d do since there wasn’t an android mechanic nearby that he trusted… at all.

As he continued to make adjustments to the obstacle course there was a knock on the front door. Alex glanced at his watch, and saw that it almost 9 o’clock at night. Lucy was fast asleep right now, and not very many people would coming visiting at this time, so Alex became suspicious. Alex got up and opened it to see a Bellmuse delivery man, pushing a dolly with a rather large box on it… and the one pushing the dolly was dripping with sweat. ”Special… special delivery for a… an Alexander Davis. Sorry for the… the delay. We almost couldn’t move this… this monstrosity of a package.” the man managed to get out between gasps. Alex offered the man an unopened bottle of water before kneeling down to pick up the package and found it was nearly as heavy as Oblivinator. Thanking the man, Alex headed back into his living room and placed the box on the floor before opening it, and gasped when he saw the wrecking ball of his old weapon, Pile Driver, though no chain. On top of it was a note. Alex opened it and read it quickly.

Dear Alex,
It’s come to my knowledge that you’ve taken up a job as a professor at Syne Academy. Are you finally coming out of that depression that’s plagued you for so long? You refused to tell me what caused it, so maybe you’ll be able to tell me sometime soon now… I hope. At least start writing me again, okay? If you need a boost of strength though, maybe this will help you remember your old strength or be you’re stepping stone to finding some new strength. Or maybe you should take you’re old strength and combine it with a new one to become far greater then you ever were. I hope to hear from you soon, my Knight of the Forest. I’m not expecting you to visit during the break though. You just got that job so I’m not sure if you’ll have the money to make the trip.

Merry Christmas

Mom

Alex sat there on the floor with the box in front of him, staring at it half stunned. How the heck did she find out that he was a professor now? Yeah he had gotten that interview for the Syne Post but there was no way that she’d get that over in Veil! Maybe Leena? The thought made Alex laugh a little. The Headmistress was heading towards Veil for her vacation, and Alex knew that his mother was very well connected. Maybe… would Leena do such a thing? He didn’t know her well enough to make that call, but it was surely possible. Still smiling he saved what he was doing on his scroll before putting it away in his pocket, lifted Pile Driver and placed it on the floor, followed by him fetching Oblivinator and placing it down next to Pile Driver.

Oblivinator had a rather long chain, and was capable of transforming into a backpack for storage. Pile Driver was like that as well, though it had a third form of becoming a Gatling gun… although that function seemed to of been removed and was replaced with a simple clip where the chain used to be, so a new chain could be attached in a snap. Alex grabbed the end of Oblivinator’s chain that wasn’t attached to the wrecking ball, and attached it to Pile Driver. While Alex didn’t really need some extra strength as the letter said he might need, his foster mother wasn’t wrong either. Alex was getting his old talent back but he was also getting some new talent as well. Back then he wouldn’t dare try to teach a large group of students all at once, but he was doing it now. By clipping Pile Driver, a symbol of Alex’s old capabilities, and combining it with his new weapon Oblivinator, Alex was basically accepting the idea that his old capabilities could be combined with the new ones he was gaining.

Now, the only question was could the two work together? Alex got up and headed into the basement, and came out with a tool box. Rolling his right shoulder, Alex opened up both wrecking balls to make adjustments to their interior components. It wasn’t going to be easy, but Alex was certain he could make the two wrecking balls combine into one backpack. The only problem was going to be the chain. Normally while in backpack form the chains were simply slung over his shoulders. Since it was now going to be holding double the weight, the chains were going to need a different configuration. After tinkering for nearly 2 hours, Alex smiled softly as he gave the components of the wrecking balls some extra lubricant before closing both wrecking balls up, picking them up, and slung them both over his shoulders.

Right away the two balls wrapped around his torso once before they connected to each other behind his back and melded into one backpack unit, with the chain crossing his chest to form an X made of chain going across the front of his torso. Yes, the two halves could work together, and anything that stood in Alex’s way wouldn’t stand a chance against him.
