Finally, she had made it. After years of working, training, and generally busting her ass, it had all finally paid off and she was walking down the halls of Syne. So of course Kristin was happy. And perhaps a bit smug as well, but who could blame her at that moment? It wasn't every day that someone finally got to move into their school of choice, so it was her time to savor the excitement. Just passing the doors on the way to her dorm was enough to maintain the faint smirk that her lips were forming. A certain giddy-ness filled her being, knowing that every step that she took was one more step towards her goal. Sure, perhaps she was over-hyping just getting to her new room, but to her it was an important part of the academy experience. That would be where she would meet the people that she would be spending most of her time here with.

Having always strove towards perfection in her fighting style, it only made sense that Kristin would desire to go to the best place to help with her aspirations. Perhaps she was a bit more peculiar than some other students that would also go to the school, but just as everyone else, she had a goal in mind that she was determined to reach. But that would take time and countless hours of training. So for the time being, it seemed that simply settling in to both her dorm and the school at large was the best and most obvious way to get started.

It didn't take Kristin long to eventually reach her dorm room, despite a bit of problems navigating. She gave a soft hum as she walked down the halls with her carrying case rolling behind her. Glancing from door-to-door, she bit down at her cheek as she attempted to find which room was hers. Perhaps the blonde should have asked for directions, but she felt confident enough that she would have been able to find it easily enough. But she didn't expect the entire dormitory to be designed in some ass-backwards way. Really, her inability to find her room was the architect's fault, not her's; she was a victim! But there was no point in musing about that just yet as she wasn't even close to giving up. Ah yes, it took more than getting somewhat lost to get the blonde to give up on a task that she was dedicated to, "Where the hell is... Oh!" she let out suddenly, looking at the paper she had gotten for the room assignment and then the door's number that she was just outside, "Hm... yep! Easy mode~" she said to herself before stepping up. With a knock, she didn't bother waiting for an answer before she reached down and turned the handle, immediately opening the door and stepping inside.

As Kristin opened the door, she could almost feel the excitement well up inside of her. Finally, she was going to meet whoever she was going to be set up with during her stay at Syne! The only problem was... that the room was empty. No sign of a roommate or their belongings, most likely meaning that she was first to arrive of all things. "... Oh." She let out flatly, "Well, that sucks..." With lowered shoulders, she lazily pushed the door closed behind her with her foot before letting out a sigh. Moving to a bed, she set her stuff beside it before simply falling into it. Roommate or not, it felt good to finally be off of her feet for just a few moments.

It was nearly three hours before the door opened, slowly and completely devoid of any sort of fanfare. It was appropriate, since the girl who walked into the room then seemed just as reserved as the now silently swinging door. After a moment, the girl blinked. She tilted her head, causing her incredibly long hair to nearly brush the ground as she stared at Kristin. Fortunately, her hair did not touch the ground since being colored as it was any sort of debris would likely be quite visible. The stare didn't last long, and the girl didn't even seem to be particularly assessing Kristin so much as she was simply familiarizing herself with them. The white haired girl gave a little nod, then turned to walk over to set her bag on the unclaimed bed.

Apparently this girl tended to travel light, since her only bag was a touch smaller than most backpacks tended to be. But then, she didn't seem like the sort of person who would pack anything in excess of what she actually needed. So it worked out fairly well, then. The girl, a bit on the short side with creamy skin and a checker-patterned outfit sat gingerly on the bed and began to unlace her gloves. As she worked, she looked up and cleared her throat to try and catch Kristin's attention. Or maybe she was actually just clearing her throat after all, since her voice was scratchy enough that she kind of like she might be sick. "My name is Rook," she blinked, apparently feeling that her introduction was somehow lacking, "Are you my roommate?"

Kristin had fallen asleep roughly an hour after she had arrived and taken her spot on the couch. By the time Rook had arrived, the blonde was already two hours into her impromptu nap. And thus, when her roommate finally entered the room, there was barely any movement, only that of the girl on the couch's chest slowly rising and falling with her breaths. A steady, almost serene tempo of lightly snoozing, locks of her long - but not as long as Rook's - blonde hair covering parts of her face. It almost seemed as though nothing was wrong.

She lightly stirred when she heard the faint sound of her incoming roommate clear her throat, after just a few seconds her eyes fluttering open. It wasn't a moment before before the blonde's hand went to her hair, combing back everything that had moved to her face. Sitting up somewhat, at least enough so that her back was resting on the armrest of the couch, she blinked, eventually looking towards the white-haired girl as she spoke, "... Oh, hey... Ah, drat, didn't mean to sleep..." she spoke. Looking over Rook just a bit, "... Huh? Oh yeah, hey... yeah, that's me... Name's Kristin, nice to... meet ya and everything." As she gave a yawn, she reached out, offering her hand to the new arrival to shake.

Rook's eyes swept over the blond girl, obviously considering her with as sort of cool detachment. Eventually, her eyes came to rest on the girl's hand, outstretched as it was. For a few moments it seemed as though Rook was simply going to ignore the offer of a handshake, but she gave her head a little shake and clasped the girl's hand with her own slender fingers. The white haired girl's grasp was surprisingly gentle, almost feather-light, but she shook Kristen's hand with about as much conviction as could be expected of the mostly-stone-faced girl.

With an obvious application of effort, Rook forced herself to smile as she addressed her new roommate. "It is nice to meet you, Kristen. Sorry if I woke you, I'm honestly a bit tired from the trip here myself." She pursed her lips for a moment, then gave a little nod as though she'd decided upon something. "As we are going to be sharing this room for most of the near future, I hope we can get along decently." With her part said, Rook turned on her heel and began unpacking a somewhat meager amount of supplies. Two spare outfits, all with the same checkered motif. Her personal toiletries, including a rather fine looking hairbrush that was apparently very well used. And a pillow and blanket, both of which seemed to have been hand stitched, were the last things to be removed from the girl's bag. She sat them all out, carefully, and began to look around as she considered how to arrange what belongings she had.

Kristin's handshake, compared to Rook's, was rather playful and firm. Something to allow them both to get used to one another as fast as possible, and that being some minor physical contact. That's what the blonde believed at the very least. Either way, by the time the handshake was finished, the girl went back to lounging around and doing not much. Sprawling herself out on the couch that she apparently had claimed as her own, she gave a soft yawn while allowing her eyes to look over her white-haired roommate in more detail now. As Rook unpacked her belongings, there wasn't much to say, so she figured she'd make conversation as she waited, "Pfft- You really like monochrome and designs like that, huh?" she asked with an amused tone, her mouth in the form of a slight smile.

"Of course we'll get along, don't worry about it~" Kristin promised as she continued to lay down on the couch, merely watching her roommate unpack her belongings, "Although you don't really need to rush to get unpacked, not like you're strapped for time or anything." With that statement, the blonde looked towards her own bag that was still untouched after she set it on her bed. Sure, she would have had plenty of time to unpack pretty much everything that she had while she was waiting for Rook to arrive, but instead she chose to take a nap. Or, well, it wasn't so much as a conscious decision as more of her body deciding.

Rolling her hand on her wrist, Kristin spoke, "Anyways. Y'know, if you don't want to stay in here - as it's pretty cramped and typical - we could go out and see what the campus has in store. Like a bonding experience~" She said playfully, "You to you though~"

Rook pursed her lips as she listened to Kristen chatter about her lack of priorities. Her knee-jerk reaction was to tell the girl that it's not really her place to say anything about how she chose to spend her time, but that probably wouldn't have been a great way to start off their relationship as roommates. So instead, Rook did her best to suppress that rather unkind sentiment and instead offered a small smile, with only the slightest of accompanying sighs. "I appreciate the contrast," she began as she took her clothes and began to put them up so as to prevent wrinkling, "and bright colors look silly on me."

After hanging her shirts and coats Rook turned back towards the bed, clearly thinking about staying to start organizing the rest of her belongings. But instead she turned towards Kristen and gave a slight nod, "I suppose you are right, though. I'm not particularly short on time just now, so the rest of my things can wait." She clearly didn't feel the sentiment as strongly as Kristen did, but Rook was honestly doing her best to be amiable. Being a reasonable sort, she was fully aware of her abrasive personality and was trying to keep from annoying someone who she would probably be spending a huge amount of time with from now on. "If you would like to explore, I wouldn't mind accompanying you. It might be nice to get a better idea of the layout of the academy; although I've already memorized the map of course."

Kristin continued to smile, never allowing her peppy and friendly demeanor to fade. Giving a nod to her new roommate, "Hey, no worries. You actually look pretty good in monochrome, so I can hardly fault you for it." Although it was probably fairly obvious what kind of outfit the blonde preferred, most of her attire being various shades of green with complimentary colors either pink or black. Just whatever she preferred at the time really. "Anyways, great, there's not much about the room in its current state that's too interesting anyways, so no point in staying when we could do... well, anything else, really!" she claimed just as she stood to her feet, giving a light stretch as she was still somewhat waking up from her impromptu nap.

Clasping her hands together, Kristin took the time to allow her eyes to dart downwards, looking over Rook from upclose that time around. She didn't linger as she looked, continuing on as soon as she glanced over her. "So, have you eaten anything yet? We could probably get lunch or something. Perhaps take it to the training area or something. Sounds interesting enough, yeah?" she asked, looking over her shoulder towards her white-haired roommate as she began to make her way towards the door of the dorm, soon opening it to lead the way into the wide open world that the two had before them.
