All throughout the campus, red and pink hearts, streamers and other similar decorations were strewn about campus. It was clear many of the students as well as the faculty were getting ready to host some kind of Valentine party. Kei might end up stopping by for the food, but he that was about all he really cared about with the party.

It's just that Valentine wasn't really his thing. To be honest, he thought it was a bit silly. It was a holiday you were supposed to spend with someone you love, yet that's basically how every other holiday was to begin with. Why was Valentines even necessary?

"What am I," Kei muttered to himself as he strolled through the campus, "Some kid who's feeling a bit lonely?"

Its not that he couldn't get himself to care for someone as a lover, but rather he didn't pursue it. Kei just couldn't imagine himself in such a relationship. If anything, he felt as though he didn't deserve such a joy-

Kei shook his head, again catching his mind wondering. Now he sounded like he was going though his mid-life crisis. Not that there was anything wrong with having one, but he was only in his 20s.

Kei walked by a couple of students escorting a cart filled with different cakes, chocolates, and pies. Kei stepped in front of the two students, stopping them in their track.

"Oh wow," Kei said casually taking a step to the side of the cart to get a closer look, "This looks really good. Can I get a sample?"

"No this is for the party-" One of the students started, but before the student could fully respond, Kei grabbed a slice of cake off of the cart.

"Hey what are you doing?!" The other student exclaimed.

"Sorry," Kei simply said as he began to walk away with cake in his hand leaving the other two students behind, "The temptations were just too strong."

Guitar over his shoulder Ash watched as Kei stole a slice of cake the school was on an uproar about this holiday. Love was in the air spring was blooming and melting away the snow. He too seemed confused by these theatrics and pondered about the cake and walked by which the students defended with great earnest. The leather clad jacket guy just shrugged disinterested following Kei for no reason slinging his guitar and began to strum a love song Musa his mentor he shadowed sent him. She had mention girls like musicians in these holidays and songs of love show that you are in tune to the holiday.

"A piece of cake so delicate. How would one care if I stole a slice. Like a broken heart it has been pierced stolen from sight. How cruel we are to steal a slice angel tears never knowing how nice we are.

Stolen cake are like stolen hearts. Waver as the delicacy sweet bitter taste melts your heart away. Every slice is like a knife the pain of my broken heart will never be the same.

Come forward and hold me for I am so lonely. Stolen from me the heart meant for me. Swiftly and quickly gone are my cherish memories. May you know my pain."

Feeling rather impress by the improvised lyrics Kei helped inspired he thought following this guy on this holiday may help him understand its purpose let alone give him more lyrics. Heck it wasn't like he knew any girl . . . Gricelda. Thinking a moment he probably wasn't sure if chocolate or hearts were safe for a faunus let alone she probably beat him up for treating her weak. Why even get her anything this holiday.... what if she didn't get anything this holiday. Ash now faced a conundrum of bad magnitude and followed Kei seeing what he would do on this holiday.

Kei had heard of few things here and there about Ash, but never actually met the guy. Not that he was really planning to either, but you tend to take notice when someone is following you playing music.

Despite sounding improvised, the music was spot on, but Kei didn't tell this to this to Ash. He just wasn't the type of person to compliment others. Instead, Kei went about dealing with things in his usual way.

Kei took a bite out of the cake he had taken a few moment ago from the students, and once swallowing the bite, Kei turned around to confront Ash.

"Listen, I have two things I would like to point out," Kei started casually, "First of all, I never give tips. So don't expect anything from me for listening to your songs."

"Secondly," Kei continued without pausing, "Why the depressing music? It's killing the valentine mood you know? That'll only cause this cake I'm snacking on right now to go sour. I fully expect to be compensated if it goes sour."

"I see. Well met friend. I do not charge for music as it is liberating as free as our wills. So fear not in payment your thought of such tells me enough. As for the song being depressing I thought it was a tragedy that some for lorn lover may not get a slice but in my eyes you may be that person. so don't let it be sour but i ask what is this holiday? It seems foreign to me everyone's behavior." Ash said smirking slightly as he strum the guitar.

"Me? Depressed?" Kei said neutrally, "You've got it all wrong. I've long gotten over prepubescent years. I'm not one to get stuck up over a disagreement with a friend or a falling out with a girl."

Kei really wasn't the type to talk about feelings that made him look caring and open. If anything, he strongly disagreed with such feelings, pushing them to the side. He completely denies them and as a result, act as though such thoughts and feelings never crossed his mind in the first place.
"This holiday," Kei continued, being extremely blunt, "Is no more then a day when people who think they found love act overly happy and giddy and those who feel like they should have a special other but don't spend it sulking and all depressed. Honestly, I think its silly."

"Me?" Kei said, taking a bite out of the dessert he took from the students earlier, "I'm just here for the free cake."

Strumming the guitar Ash smiled seems the man's view on this holiday was a bit dour but nothing to true some times it was a bit foolish to over excite a holiday. Carefully strumming the guitar Ash sighed. "Perhaps so. Seems to me though you may not mind if some one found you to share this holiday often the things we set aside for the better of our purpose are things we most desire. Wisdom such as that weighs in value."

Sighing once more. "But is it not a day like this being giddy and over joy even if silly is a good holiday for Hunters to promote to keep the Grimm at bay? Or at least we can continue the traditions and see what the festivities about a pair of lone shinobi out on the prowl for free cake? I know the market has some with liquor baked into it. And there are always those ladies who wouldn't mind the good acts of a special some one for the day. Care to make the most of it friend? The name is Ash Rockford."

"Wisdom has no weight." Kei pointed out bluntly with a frown, "Besides, I dunno why you want to follow me around. Today is supposed to be a day of love, and if it is love you seek, well, to be straightforward about it, I'm not going to be the best option for that. Firstly, my intentions for today are different then just 'love'. Secondly, I don't have a thing for guys. Don't let that put you down though, plenty of girls here at the academy can get pretty desperate on this day, so finding some kind of love wouldn't be too hard."

"But if its not love you're searching for, but in rather the true gems in life," Kei said, his expression changing to a wicked grin, clearly something on his mind, "Then follow me Ash, I'll show you the real way this holiday should be spent."

"By the way," He lastly added, "Before I get too carried away, call me Kei."

"Don't worry your not that cute anyways Kei." Ash grinned and shrugged.

"You can tell me and show me what it is all about but be mindful i'm a bit foreign to this concept we didn't really celebrate love like this or this festivities mostly it was a festival of dancing and flowers for me. Besides most the women here are rather dangerous for a guys health or.... Avery..."

Shudders. "Aye so lead the way Kei let see these gems you seem found of."

"It doesn't really matter." Kei replied, "The only time it really matters when I appear attractive is to people who I'm trying to hook up with."

"That," Kei said in response to Ash with what he said about the woman at Syne Academy, "I really can't deny."

Kei pointed to the corner of the courtyard, where there were a couple of students setting up for a party. Right behind these students, there were several rows of tables which were being prepped for the party.

"Basically," Kei told Ash casually, as if he was doing nothing wrong, "Go distract them with a song or something. Just make sure they don't see me as I snatch some stuff off of the table behind them."
