It was an understatement to say that business was slow. More accurately, it had completely halted. Of course, she barely had any clients to begin with. What was the problem? She had given her business card to everyone she met, so she did not really think it was too much of an advertising issue. Perhaps word was out that her combat capabilities were... sub par to say the least. Fine. She needed some Lien anyway. Why not go for a little hunt? What better way was there for training than trial by error? Error that would hopefully not prove Fatal. On second thought, the young woman considered, maybe I could recruit some help.

She got dress and left her totally-not-a-dorm-room Office holding a large piece of poster board that she had written on. "Come hunt with me!" It exclaimed with letters written in bold permanent marker. She headed down to the residence hall exit and toward the airship docks, where large airborne vessels took students, staff and visitors alike to the edge of Finnek forest and back again. After locating what seemed like a good spot, Cassie lifted the sign above her head, and started shouting with enough force that even the deaf could hear her. "Anyone willing to go hunting with a cute young lady? Even split of the loot! Anyone wanna go beat up some monsters?" And so on. It was nearly impossible to miss her. If the yelling didn't catch one's attention, her attire did. She wore the brightest of Crimsons in her ever-present fedora hat, as well as a matching coat since it had been pretty cold out lately. The only visible thing she wore that wasn't impossibly red were some tall, brown combat boots and her off-black jeans. Surely, someone would take notice and join her on her quest?

It was one of those amazing rare occasions in which Cayn had been kicked out of the academy workshop. Not because he was doing anything wrong, unless you count spending eighteen hours in that room and missing a couple lectures. In punishment the tinkerer had been told to go out into Finnek and get some sunlight. That was all, no fighting, no work, just to go outside for a time period. As far as assignments go it was an easy one. Yet the dog Faunus did not enjoy the demand. However the future Huntsman could not go against the order, so after a quick stop up to his dorm to grab his sword, Cayn had to make his way to the airship landing.

At the landing, waiting for the airship he was going to board to leave, Cayn could only grumble. "Too many people." He muttered as a pair of children ran past him all while laughing. It was not the people he had a problem with honestly, and more just that he was irritated for being interrupted from his craft. The weapon smith had to put all that to the side for the moment, and with a mental heave his mindset began to brighten just a small bit. Maybe if he got this over with and proved that he was actually not missing anything to the people who kicked him out, then maybe it would make their words falter next time this happened.

Whether Cayn wanted to notice or not, his eyes were drawn to a woman shouting out. His first rest was upon her hat and then the color of her attire in general. A lot of red. Maybe too much red, but he could not care less about that. To each their own. After all he was only wearing a leather vest with nothing underneath to cover his torso. She seemed to be asking for help against some Grimm. A perfect opportunity to show those layabouts exactly what he was capable of. He had to push his way through a small throng of people who had gathered, only ten or so. Each he could hear speaking their own mind, some were thinking of joining, another was annoyed that she was doing this his area.

Cayn approached after he moved a couple people to the side, not forceful enough to garner any ill will. "I'll go with you." He quite nearly shouted to the woman in red. "As long as it is in Finnek."

Let it be known that yelling at random passersby always works. It was a well known fact. In fact, such a fact was proven simply by the surprised and confused looks she got from pedestrians, and more so by someone actually responding to her. He was a young man, clearly faunus. He seemed to have no fear of the cold weather since his jacket apparently did not function as in the one way a jacket is supposed to. All in all, an interesting character. That was the best kind. He answered Cassie's pleas and agreed to hunt with her, as long as the could go looking for Grimm in the Finnek Forest. "Why, That's perfect good sir, The forest is the closest thing to the next airship stop." She reached for a card tucked in the band of her hat and Held it out to the man. "Castelina Santiago: Ace Detective. Of course you can just call me Cassie. It's a pleasure to Meet you. Here's to a grand adventure today!" She would wait for any return introductions before turning toward one of the loaded docks. While on the ship, She would write down all her observations on her newest companion, to file away later. She would put the notepad away when the ship reached its Destination.

Business Card:

"All right, Step one: Get here is complete. Now to go looking for monsters, right?" Admittedly, Cassie had very little idea what she was actually doing. She was pretty new to this whole "combat" thing. Which was clearly why she was going in Gun a'blazing. Because what was fear other than a motivational tool (unless of course, spiders were involved)? "Where do you think we should start? This forest is pretty big, after all." She chose to turn to Her hunting buddy for some much-needed guidance.

Cayn was not sure what he expected when he got a reply. Certainly not that the woman was a detective. And even less so that she lived on the floor above his own, the address from the card that he took. Well there were plenty of students he had not met before, so maybe that was not as surprising as he thought. "Likewise neighbor." Cayn tried to say without his mug gleaming, but that failed and his smile was uncharacteristically real.  "I'm Cayne Fortuna. I live in dorm 211. Mechanic."

With his own portion of the introductions finished Cayn boarded the airship with Cassie. The entire ride he kept his eyes on the floor of the vehicle, not daring to look outside on the off chance that his stomach could not handle the view. He did notice the detective writing something down, but what it was he would not ask.

Cayn had to smile at the enthusiasm of the detective, but this was his first time out that was not a class activity on a hunt. "I guess we just go to where there are less people? Deeper into the woods definitely. Or we can listen for screaming. That always works too." Said the tinkerer as he lead the way into the woods from this point on.

Ursa

Ursa
well if they where looking the two wouldn't have to wait much longer as two ursa where fighting each other more lass rolling around like two bony plated teddy bears fighting over what was left of another hunter. one stopped to begin looking at the two hunters as the other one took this moment to steal a bites to eat off the carcass. the one looking at them reared up and Roars at the which made the other one stand on its hind legs. both now turned to attention on the two hunters, the one who ate rolled on to his side like a little bear as if grabbing his tummy, the other larger Ursa roars at it as the other one hides it face a little behind its large paws. the other snorts and starts to approach the two slowly its speed starting to get faster as its paws beat crossed the ground coming in for a charge. It's main goal to close the distance between them.

The young PI chuckled at Cayn's little joke about the screaming as she followed him deeper into the forest. She always liked this area. There was something magical about the blue trees that covered Bellmuse's mountains. The pair of Hunter trainees hiked through the beautiful trees, Hunting for the creatures whose darkness dared to contrast such peace. Of course, they did not have to go very far to find results. It was surprising how quickly they had come across their targets even. "Huh. Well that didn't take long." Cassie mumbled in a hushed tone of voice. Before them were two Ursa, playfully mauling a human body. The body of someone who clearly wasn't very lucky. Of course, if it weren't for such a dead little detail, the way the ursa behaved would actually have been kind of cute. Alas, Justice cared not for appearance.

Shortly after they were spotted, The Small Ursa seemed to notice the presence of Cassie and Cayn, and it looked as though they were still hungry. How wonderful. Of course, one monster appeared to be more timid than the other, and so the larger bear took matters into its own paws as it started an accelerating charge. That was the cue to start some action, right? "Here we go." Cassie pulled out her revolver from her belt, and after almost dropping the gun and fumbling a bit to keep it in her hand, she randomly shot three times at the running bear. One bullet was a clear miss, whizzing off into the distance, but the next two at least accurate enough to be able to hit the target.

As they moved further away from civilization, Cayn felt less and less at ease. Being so far away from the technology he had grown to love was unnerving, and he only never hated it because Bellmuse was not a massive country in which he could ever be too far away from a town. "Unfortunately." Cayn replied as he looked from the Ursa to the body they had just been feasting upon. "Poor bloke. We should find some I.D. if possible when we finish here." He would try and have to remember to give his condolences, if the two of them made it as well.

With a soft click, a latch on the sheath had been released, and with a little work the falchion's polished blade reflected the blueish hues from the trees. Even if he had practiced somewhat in the academy's facilities, Cayn still felt that the sword was odd in his hand. Not the extension of his being that the instructors always said in that cliche manner. Still, if he was going to be a Huntsman proper, then he should at least quickly learn how to use his weapon.

Gunfire rang out and his sensitive ears flattened against the noise. Cayn figured he'd need to get used to that as well eventually. Well with one of the Ursa charging, Cayn moved forward to intercept on his partner's behalf. The Faunus held his sword in one hand, and with his other he waved, bringing a bluish hued opaque platform into view. All while his eyes never lost sight of the creation of his, the tinkerer used the angle of the platform to lift him a few feet above the ground. As his feet reached the far edge, Cayn leaped forwards and up. With his fall he brought the blade down on the back of charging Ursa. Much to his dismay the weapon did not cut cleanly through. Instead it lodged itself in the Ursa's back, and from this weapon Cayn hung on for dear life.

[35 damage done to the charging Ursa, 30 after defense. I think.]

the larger ursa was fired upon and when struck with two rounds rung out a loud roar and rolled off the the side avoiding the man with the sword his clear target the women with the gun as it roars it closed the distance between them. the beast was smart enough to know the man with the sword was the least of its worries or maybe it could tell which was the weaker of the two. as it closed the distanced it goes for a double paw swipe at the women's midsections.

double slap- 5 damage each strike.

40 damage delt by two shots - 60 hp left

the rollypolly ursa herd the gun shots and begins its assault to join its partner but this one attempts on the cat like human. it closed the distance rather quickly and attempts a body flop on to him with a less intimidating roar as its more lax attack might because of how full it was.

belly flop - 5 damage.

"I did it!" Cassie Cheered herself on when her bullets made contact with the enemy. However, such celebration was short lived when she noticed the Ursa's recovery. "Shoot shoot shoot shoot" she mumbled as she tried to aim her gun. Unfortunately she was not fast enough and the Ursa hit her as she was finally able to fire off her weapon, sending her bullet off to the left. The bear's strike was closely followed by another of the same nature, the force of both Knocking the girl over. Of course, it wasn't long before Cassie realized that the Ursa's attack barely even hurt. The young woman felt the blows of course, but she had also felt a much worse pain before.

"Hey, that's not so bad."
She pointed her revolver toward the Ursa's face and fired. At such short distance, she didn't really even need to aim, which was nice. She Left the Ursa to react to a bullet to the face and scrambled to get up and away, trying to create some distance. It was strange though. As she ran, she felt a dip in the ground where there was none, only a shadow of a nearby tree. It nearly caused her to trip over completely. "What the.." But wait! She had an Ursa to deal with! No time for paranoia. She stopped and turned toward the Grimm to watch its next move.

Cayn had been certain that his strike would land, but the Ursa seemed to be smarter than he thought. He hit the ground hard, rolling until he came to a stop while on his back. Leaves and a twig poked through the vest, and his head leaned back to look for Cassie. All he could see was the hulking mass of an Ursa, and hear a couple more gunshots go off in. This was going to shit pretty quick, and with that thought he started to rise to go help the detective.

Yet the Faunus had forgotten about the other Ursa, the one who had hung back had not registered as much of a threat at the time. Before Cayn could fully rise to move, the bear shaped Grimm rising and falling with it's full weight. A startled shout escapes the fighter's mouth as he raises his hands and knees to absorb the impact. "Get off you ugly lump of fat." Cayn growls angrily at the creature even if he knew it could not understand him. His arms were a little bruised from the slam but otherwise the mechanic was okay. As he continues emitting a low angry gurgling growl, the tinkerer shoves at the Ursa with one hand while making two poorly controlled stabs at the belly of the beast.
