Rika Titania

Rika Titania
The day was quite a beautiful one, many would note were they to simply turn their attention to the clear, sunny skies. No Grimm had attacked, no major fights broken out. All in all, it appeared to be a beautiful, peaceful day for the Pigtailed cat faunus that was currently walking around the skylight woods. Unknowingly, the pigtailed girl was headed towards the clearing within the forest, searching around for something to do. She could have sworn she heard shouting but had not seen any type of danger. The truth was Rika was suffering from a problem, a major problem that she had not been prepared for. Huntsmen and Huntresses were prepared for many things in their time at the academies, from surprise Grimm attacks to major events that could easily prove disastrous, if not downright life threatening for the hunter in question. Danger was a constant for anyone considered a fighter in the world of remnant and doubly so for the warriors of light known as Huntsmen.

Indeed, many classes existed to prepare students for anything from interrogations to combat strategies to even something as seemingly simple as keeping calm under pressure or during the heat of battle. None had prepared Rika for this situation. The cat faunus…. was bored.

She had nothing to do, and so had come out here hoping to find something to occupy her time. She’d finished her classes for the day and pulled a few small pranks on other students but had still not found anything that would occupy her less than adequate attention span. Everything was just so boring that the faunus was hoping for something…Anything to happen. Another shout got the pigtailed girl’s attention, causing her to turn in the direction of the sound.

It hadn’t been a fearful shout, nor one of anger that one might typically think out in the woods, even in an area as often visited as this area of Skylight. Rika came to the edge of the clearing with a curious look etched on her face. Confused at what was going on within the large clearing she had found. What she didn’t know was that she had stumbled her way out of the skylight woods, and into the outskirts of Springwood. A clearing often used for various sports and sporting events specifically.

There were white lines over grass in a large rectangle, with some lines within the that Rika didn’t understand the meaning of. A group of people, children mostly who seemed to be kicking around a strange black and white speckled ball that seemed to be patterned by hexagons of alternating black and white. They appeared to be trying to kick it into a weird net on either side of the field. The players seemed to be focused on the ball, and nobody noticed the redheaded girl watching this activity take place with something akin to wonder.

The idea of sports was one Rika was only vaguely aware of, having no reference during her childhood for such things as other children had been nonexistent in the Forest of Forever Fall. A young woman however seemed to notice her, and Rika was startled when the woman suddenly spoke up.

“Nice day for a game, right?” Rika jumped at the sudden voice, spinning around to see a woman a little older than her wearing a cap and with a whistle hanging from her neck. “Wish I could play around like that, I’m stuck watching them.” The girl explained looking out over the field. Rika nodded understanding somewhat, it did look kinda fun….

The woman suddenly looked back at Rika, a look on her face saying she had an idea. “Hey, if we both play on different teams, I’m sure the kids can’t say it isn’t fair…. what do you say?” Rika blinked, not even sure who this woman was, but she nodded none the less before a thought occurred to her, causing her to give the woman a sheepish look. “Er…I kinda got no clue how ta play.” She admitted feeling silly.

The woman just smiled, before explaining the basics of the game. “All you’ve got to remember is that you need to get the ball into the other team’s goal, and you can’t use your hands…also you can’t let the ball leave the field.” The woman explained. “Other than that, just try to go easy on the kids, K Red?” The woman winked at Rika at the last addition, and the pigtailed girl nodded in response.

Both went to their respective team, and it didn’t take long for the pigtailed faunus to find herself with the ball. She kicked it under the legs of a faunus child with notable dog ears, spinning around him before continuing towards the goal in question.

The redhead grinned widely as she avoided kids trying in vain to stop her, dodging around they’re attempts to steal the ball gracefully as she got closer and closer to the goal, only for the female coach, the one to invite her to the game in the first place, to suddenly get in the way. Rika scrambled back after the ball was kicked away from her, determination in her eyes as the potential challenge took root in her eyes. She could hear the children cheering either adult on, the kids on her own team adopting the woman’s nickname for her and cheering loudly for “Red” as she recovered the ball.

Once again, the two of them clashed as she made another attempt at the goal, a shot blocked with enough force to propel the ball into the air. “Sorry Red, but it’ll take more than that!” The woman taunted teasingly, and Rika frowned before jumping up, bouncing the ball over the woman with her head before running past, faster than anyone could have expected her to have moved. The redhead kicked the black and white ball, and her “teammates “cheered wildly while she turned to the woman. “Whatcha gotta say now huh?” She grinned wildly, the other woman looking somewhat amused by the whole situation.

“That was a good move, you sure you’ve never done this before.” Rika shook her head, giving an enthusiastic nope in response before the coach could continue. “Maybe we should make it us against the kids, what do you say?”

Both Rika and the children agreed at this with equal glee, this sports stuff was kinda fun.
