Beowulf

Beowulf
BEOWOLF
LEVEL ?, 300 HP

Darkness. The dead of the night was known to harbor as much. And it was the dead of the night when the creature crossed the boundary of Syne Academy's Campus, A learning facility that found pride in its protection against darkness within its borders. The only light was that coming from the outdoor lamps as the wolf entered the courtyard of the school. The creature? One of the Grimm. A Beowolf, as a matter of fact. Known to mankind as one of , if not THE most basic of the dark creatures, those mindless lupine beasts without a thought in their head but the thought to destroy everything it saw, everything it came across.

The monster roamed, simply wandered in the shadows; avoiding light, avoiding sight. The doors inside were up ahead, just past its reach. Mere feet away. No grimm had seen past those doors. In fact, no grimm had gone nearly as far as this single Beowolf had. They were normally struck down by guards, or taken out by the hunters before they ever got the chance. The Lucky Beowolf took a step toward the door, another, another. moving closer and closer on all fours. What would happen if it got inside?

Luke Castus

Luke Castus
Coming from the library Luke wandered the grounds of Syne looking for his dorm. Due to him being fairly new to the school he didn't quit know his way around yet. He readjusted the backpack on his shoulder and switch the arm of the textbook he was carrying. "A Thesis on Dust and its Relation to Aura" One of his heavier textbooks. It was a long night of studying indeed. He was tired after the long night and was looking forward to a good night's rest however with how lost he was, that didn't seem possible.

Luke took a deep breath and looked around to see if he could find anyone around that could tell him where to go. In the distance before one of the entrances to the academy he saw a shadowy figure looming in the distance. It was very dark that night and he had  trouble seeing. At first he thought it could be a student, however it seemed too tall to be one of the students. Perhaps a professor or one of the staff at Syne. He took a brisk jog up to the figure and began reaching for it when he was shocked to learn the truth. He suddenly stopped himself from the jog and slid back at the horrifying sight of a creature of grimm. Luke quickly regained his footing and slowly backed up trying to stay out of arms reach of the beast.

Revan Winterstone

Revan Winterstone
Revan was taking a stroll outside of the academy, he quite enjoyed the peace and quiet of the night and used the darkness to get a feel for how well he actually knew the campus. He needed to know the space around him very well for his teleport ability to be of any use. Thus Revan used the dark hours of the night, where he could barely see, to test his perception and memorization.

Revan's honed perception did him well when he saw a large dark figure. Though it was barely noticeable and could very well be a illusion, Revan moved in carefully and quietly to see whether his eyes were right. What he saw was a Beowulf of the campus, not an everyday sight. Revan noticed what looked like a student who saw the exact same as he did. Revan circled around to the student to whom he said "This thing is either very lucky to get this far onto, campus or somehow intelligent. While the second is highly improbable, I'd watch out and prepare for a fight"

Keyhl walked absentmindedly as he tinkered with some gadget that was in his hand. As he walked he was cut off from his stroll as a student jogged by him. Looking up from his device Keyhl noticed that it was now night and he had been tinkering with his gadget for hours now. Before he could notice anything else the same student that had cut him off began to back away from where he was headed. Keyhl looked at the student's previous destination to see a large shape moving in the dark. Confused he lowered his goggles to cover his eyes. The goggles informed him that the large shape was in fact a Beowulf. Quickly Keyhl moved away from the Grim and noticed the other two people in the courtyard he joined them knowing that fighting together gave them a distinct advantage. Keyhl dropped his bag and coat to the ground and drew his revolver from its holster. He checked the cylinder to make sure that it was fully loaded. “Shall we!” Keyhl said upon confirming his weapon was loaded.

Warren yawned as he walked down the hallway as he headed back towards his dorm room. A decently long day had left him tired, and the fact that he had been kept up in order to try and find some text books he'd left lying in class somewhere only exasperated the issue. Still, the day had drawn to a close, and he could soon find sweet, sweet, comfort in the embrace of sleep.

He quickly approached his dormitory door, but paused as he thought like he'd heard something. Was it... Footsteps? He looked up and down the hall curiously, but saw no one that could have made any noise. Warren walked down the hall a few steps, wondering what it could be. After a few moments, he gave a sigh, deciding that it was simply a figment of his imagination, and turned back towards his dorm. As he did so, though, something outside the window caught his attention.

Outside he saw two students... One younger, and another older. Or maybe the older one was a professor maybe? Warren honestly couldn't tell, all the teachers at Syne seemed to young for one reason or another. Not that it mattered too much to Warren, long as they knew what they were doing. Still, the two men outside seemed to drawn towards looking at something. Following their gaze, Warren saw a black blur, hidden partially by the cover of night. He squinted at it, trying to piece out the details of it through the haze of darkness. Was that... a Beowulf!? How the hell did one of those get inside!?

Warren dashed back into his room, the door slamming behind him, as he quickly began throwing on his Dust Carapace. It was entirely possible that those two outside could handle it, but for all Warren knew, there could be more than just a single Beowulf. He wanted to be prepared, just in case.

Beowulf

Beowulf
So close, The beowolf had gotten So close, but its objective was not met as one of those human things spotted the Grimm. That in and of itself would not have been too much of a problem, as the boy merely stepped back and did not much else, but this was still a school of hunters and if one human saw the dark creature, more would too. It obviously was not very well hidden.

Such presumptions turned out to be true, and another human appeared, followed by yet another. These two were visibly not as nervous as the first kid was, what with one of them, the older looking one, pulling out a weapon. It was clear now that they wished to fight. The Beowolf positioned itself into a low stance, a slow and steady growl emanating from its throat. It looked at its options before going for the kid with the textbook, who seemed the least likely to fight back. The creature would rush at him, planning to tackle him and swipe while the human was pinned to the ground.

(This is a Level 8 Beowolf, Damage Count per attack is 70.)

Luke Castus

Luke Castus
Luke tensed his stance and held his arms out, distancing himself from the animal. He had seen the beasts of grimm before and he was not one to underestimate an enemy. The blue haired young man noticed the professors gather around the area having seen the monster themselves. One of them, around his age, maybe a senior at the academy spoke to him and told him to prepare for a fight. He looked back at him for a moment and nodded as another one of the professors joined the fray.

While he was turned, the beowolf lunged at him with an unholy fervor. Unable to draw his sword from its sheath in time, Luke grasped his heavy textbook as tightly as he could and swung it as hard as he could, hitting the beast square in the face and knocking him for a loop. The textbook came apart with the hit however the beast did not seem to be harmed by it much more than the sheer shock of the attack itself. Luke jumped back towards the teachers as he let go of the book cover and drew his sword, the Nyneve and clasped his right hand, activating his shield as the ripped pages from the book gently floated down, covering part of the area.

Revan Winterstone

Revan Winterstone
Revan saw the beast charge the student, and began to  circle to his left, and when he saw the student tense in preparation for a counter, Revan then readied his own attack. Revan waited for the student to begin his attack, than without even drawing his weapon, perhaps out of arrogance, lunged in for a two punch combo. He then jumped back to put himself just outside of the reach of the grimm, though in practice the move would be impractical as during the jump he would be seemingly defenseless.

Revan looked to the side and chuckled as he saw the after math of attacking the grimm with a textbook "You do know how much those textbooks cost right?" Revan was seemingly far too arrogant in all of his motions leaving him open. Though in every other aspect he would seem to be a rather exceptional fighter, his stance was firm and his form was exceptional.

Pages flew as the student slammed his textbook into the beast, followed by the other teacher there punching the Grimm; with his bare hands no less. Keyhl decided to ignore this though and focus on the task at hand. Moving with all the speed he could muster without using his semblance Keyhl quickly flanked the beast's right staying well away from the range the beast could hit. This was his strength, speed and agility to keep himself away from the beast. He knew this Grimm must be strong if it could get this far into Syne so distance was his friend for the time. He hopped that the two fighting the beast up close would be enough to keep it distracted from his shots. Upon reaching his destination Keyhl took aim at the beast and began his attack. One two three four. Keyhl counted the rounds he spent as though they were a rhythm to a musical piece.

Warren Novack

Warren Novack
Warren put on his armor with practiced ease. It was something he'd done hundreds of times before, and his hands worked quickly as they fitted and tightened armor plates to his body. He rolled his shoulders to quickly test his range of motion, and to ensure that he hadn't screwed up somewhere, before throwing on his helmet and rushing out the door. Now properly armored, Warren quickly looked out the window and saw that the battle was already in earnest. Taking the stairs would take too long... Well, he'd just have to take the window then.

Backing up as far as he could, up to the wall behind him, Warren broke into a run, raising his arms to cover his face as he leapt. In the moments after both his feet left the ground, Warren suddenly remembered that he was roughly four stories up and he'd have to fall all the way down to the courtyard.

Glass shattered as he jumped through the window, the broken shards glittering in the moonlight as they scraped across his armored form. He heard several gunshots, and wondered for a moment just who it was that was shooting, until gravity caught up to him and he was suddenly filled with the horrible sensation of falling uncontrollably. A manly, and completely reasonable, scream left his mouth as he began to plummet, something he would later call a war cry. He flailed his limbs wildly in the air as the ground grew closer and closer to meet him. He wondered if he looked as stupid as he felt right now, even as he tucked himself into a roll, tumbling across the ground for several feet, before halting on one knee.

He quickly stood up and looked around. Oh, it looked like Professor Riven was here too. Well, hopefully with the four of them, a beowulf, friends or no friends, would be simple enough to handle. He cleared his throat as he glanced from person to person, and spoke. "Nice night, huh?"

Beowulf

Beowulf
As the monster advanced, the boy decided to fight back, not with a weapon, but with a book? Is this the type of equipment that huntsmen had these days? Well, true weapon or not it did serve to be effective. It hit the Beowolf square in the face, falling apart with the force. The Creature of Grimm stepped back as he was hit, and then shook its head to alleviate some of the shock of the attack. He began to try again, going for the same target now that he did not have that big book to protect himself with.

Or, that was what it would have liked to happen. What actually happened was that as the Beowolf got hit with the book, it stepped back to keep balance, only to fall over as it was hit twice on the side. It got up as fast as it could to strike back, but the punching man had gotten out of immediate rage. All it could do as the man chose to speak with the younger boy was go in for another charge, this time at the older adult. This also failed, because it was stopped by a sharp pain on its right side. The monster spun around as it got hit again, meeting the 3rd and 4th bullets with its face. It screeched as it ran to the sharp shooter despite the fact that the other humans were closer, lunging for his chest, not even noticing that a fourth human had joined the fray.

Kurai Namerkana

Kurai Namerkana
Kurai walked through the courtyard towards his dorm when a array of loud noises from gunfire to glass breaking and even a roar or two was heard near the entrance of the academy. He followed the noises towards the gate with his hand tightly gripped to his halberd ShadowFall on his back. "I swear to god if this is another racial dispute i'm gonna" he stopped his self ramblings as he approached the source of the ruckus. A Beowulf was attacking (or at least trying it's best to do so) the group of 4. "How did a Beowulf get in here?" he thought to himself "Doesn't matter it'll be dead in seconds". but then Kurai realized that from the time he heard the gunshots to the time it took him to run over here it barely looked hurt at all and he was almost certain 4 hunters regardless of how experienced could take one down by now. "Guess it's tougher than it looks" he thought to himself as he considered helping the group. Kurai sighed "I just sharpened ShadowFall" he scolded at the beast "do you know how hard it is to sharpen every little part of a halberds blade!". "how'd this thing even get in?" he asked as he unsheathed his trusty halberd.

Luke Castus

Luke Castus
Luke tried to take it all in for a moment. As soon as he had spotted the dark beast, it was swarmed by student and teacher alike from all sides. It was an onslaught. Luke looked back to the young professor as he commented on his textbook and laughed. "I just needed an excuse not to do today's homework." He was sure the professor would think he was joking. In the distance, Luke began to hear a small noise that gradually got louder. He looked up and saw a heavily armored man flapping his arms around like a madman as he descended from the building. Luke shielded his face from the falling glass and flinched from the sound of the heavy thud. After seeing that the man was still moving after the fall, he ran over to him and quickly asked, "Are you alright?" He shook his head at the young man's comment on the fall. "Yeah, sure." Offering a hand to help him up.

This was probably the messiest handling of a beowolf this school had ever seen. The only person who truly seemed prepared for this conflict was the man with the revolver, considering the other two combatants were fighting one with their bare hands or just dropped a couple stories into the courtyard. Luke regained his composure and charged in with his shield up. He prepared his blade, clenching the sword tightly in his left hand and putting all his weight into a slash aimed for the beowolf's head.

Revan Winterstone

Revan Winterstone
Revan watched the Beowulf knocked back and forth between a flurry of attacks. Revan moved in for another hit. He didn't seem to serious in his fighting, but in a way he couldn't be as serious in actual fights unless he drew his blade. Though drawing his blade was not a good idea either. Revan heard glass shatter and saw a man falling not only that, but he was screaming and flailing. Revan then, brining himself back to the fight, swung his right fist at the beowulf. He had a rather relaxed posture, but it was still a posture for fighting. Revan would hope for the best on his punch, then take some steps back to put himself out of range again. He would have a smirk on his face as he said to the recent arrival "Fashionably late I see, and what a graceful entrance. If this were one of my classes I probably wouldn't even count you tardy though." Revan would laugh lightly at his comment, though at the same time he would keep focus on the fight.

Keyhl heard the crash of glass and the loud clanking of armor. He assumed that this was another student or teaching coming to join the fray, but he did not dwell long on this thought. Keyhl had more pressing issues. Like the Beowulf now bearing down on him. Keyhl waited until the beast was close then took a shot for one of it's eyes. One. Without seeing if his shot connected or not he activated his sembalace to quickly dodge his attacker. A golden glow covered Keyhl and made him appear as a bright blur. Keyhl meant to flank the beast trapping it between himself and the other three. Uppon reaching his destination he saw that the new combatant was in fact in a full suit of armor. Taking aim for the beasts head Keyhl let off the last three rounds in his revolver. Two. Three. Four. He counted the last bullets in his gun.

Warren reached up and took the boy's proffered hand, giving a nod of thanks. "I'm completely a-okay, actually! Kind of surprised at that to be honest." Warren said, in response to the question of whether or not he was okay.

He glanced over to the other man, a teacher for sure, judging by his comment. "Well, hey, stairs are for people with time to spare, and I'm afraid I was in a bit of a rush." Warren gave a cocky smile back, not that anyone could see it, seeing as it was hidden from underneath his helmet.

Focusing his attention back onto the fight, along with the other people he found himself fighting alongside, Warren finally saw a familiar face, Professor Riven, firing his revolver at the Beowulf's face, though it looked like he only made it angrier rather than doing any real damage to it. He watched the other student draw a sword and shield and rush it headlong, while the teacher danced back and forth, trying to stay out of range, even as the Beowulf charged Riven. Warren decided now was a good time to get himself properly involved in the fight, and so he rushed forwards and lept, aiming to tackle the Beowulf out of the air and grapple it, hoping to draw its attention away from Riven, though it seemed like what he did wasn't necessary, seeing as Riven dodged out of the way with a flash of light.

Beowulf

Beowulf
The man's gun was aimed right for the Beowolf, but it didn't care. It kept charging, because that man was its target. So when he took his shot, the bullet headed straight for the Grimm's eye... and missed. It would have been a perfect shot, and the monster would have been partially blind, but at the same time that that shot took place, the Beowolf was taken by surprise when it was suddenly tackled by the new human that had joined late. It hear the bullet whirr past its ear and into the bush behind. The Armored human had  saved him! Perhaps he was one of the good ones. The Grimm pulled away with all of its might so that it could stand back up, but the other humans were not nearly as chivalrous as the one.  The Gunman shot three more times, all three hitting their mark, the Book boy was now wielding a sword, and Punchy McGee was still doing his Punchy thing. The beowolf was unable to dodge the attacks with the limited space, so it ended up taking all of the attacks as it swiped a mighty paw horizontally out in front of it to keep the attackers at bay before proceeding to hide behind the armored one. It needed to get out of here if it planned to make it back home tonight.

Luke Castus
Luke stepped back as the beowolf wildly swiped in front of him. The beast had taken heavy damage from the devastating combos the teachers and students had unleashed on it and now it was time to end it. Luke took an aggressive position against the beast holding his shield up towards the beowolf, almost trying to squeeze in a heavy attack in between the monster's defense. The animal through a heavy swipe horizontally with his paw and Luke took the hit on his shield. Luke felt his arm tremble with the heavy hit but he held up his defense. Almost as soon as the beowolf's attack landed on the shield, Luke turned putting as much momentum into his sword as possible, swiping back to counter the animal.

The animal shrunk back and began to hide behind the armored skydiver. Luke found this odd that the beowolf wasn't attacking the student but instead seemed to take shelter behind it. "Hey uh..." Luke didn't know what to call the armored combatant. "Tin man!" He went with what he thought would work. "Take him out!" He yelled as he took a position near him.

Beowulf

Beowulf
The Beowulf did not quite like all of the humans ganging up on it, with the exception of the one that rescued it. Still, even with that on on it's side, it was still outnumbered by the enemy, and it was not feeling so great after trying to beat three different humans almost on its own. It needed to get out. As soon as it saw an opening, the bookworm human shouting at the armor-clad hero, It bolted, back the way it came, and into the darkness of Finnek Forest.

(sorry, the plot kinda needs to move along now, haha)
