Once more, Gawain stood in the vast, beautiful forest, however, all alone as he desired. Only days after he introduced his dog to the pet's new home, Gawain took the first day he dedicated solely to combat training to head out on a hunt. Despite already having the resources and skills to pay for all of his dog's needs and a bit more, Gawain simply felt like going on a hunt, mostly because of the thuggish incident with his pet and that blonde-haired girl.

Thinking back on the incident, Gawain began to realize that he himself didn't stand up for his dog, protecting the little animal when the three students attacked them. With such a reasoning in his head, Gawain wanted to become stronger, to be able to face danger without any fear and falter, thus the mute boy stood in that forest, clad in his refined armor and refined sword by his side.

Staring at his surroundings with his hands ready to draw, Gawain remained cautious. With no one to rely on, having left his pet home to be accustomed to Gawain's home, the boy had to focus entirely at the situation at hand. Nevertheless, Gawain himself was ready for the dangers that lied ahead, no matter how fiercesome or deadly they were. No matter how kindhearted the boy was, he was also a growing Huntsman.

GRIMM ENCOUNTER

Three powerful lizard like beings raced through the forest, sharp jaws snarling and jabbering to each other. Powerful legs pounded at the speed of a train, tearing over roots and braking branches. These two were rather large as normal creeps went, lacking arms like all others of their kind of course, they stood in their stooped state at around a meter and a half tall.

They were out for blood alike any other day, but that of a specific breed of the souled ones. The blood of mankind, the blood they were drawn to most of all. They did it for the thrill. Their jaws opened wide, marinating their momentum as they caught sight of one from behind. A human, not too big a one for that matter. Blonde hair and an average build for a male.

The three grimms split off from their path, using the trees as cover as they approached the man. With this pincer like formation they struck, the left bursting from the undergrowth first and attempting to headbut the boy's side at an incredible speed. As it darted for the bushes the second shot out, jaws wide. It aimed a gnarly chomp for the man's side, looking to tear a good hole at lung level. This beast however did not try to hide like it's brother. Instead it attempted to size up the girl, whether it had missed or not; growling and screeching loudly. The third one sprung directly behind the human and charged ahead, aiming to take a bite on the man's leg.

With the closing sounds of the beasts in the distance, crushing the blue grass beneath their feet, Gawain clutched the hilt of his sword with his right hand, using his left for guidance as he waited for the first attack. With the sounds of nature giving away the general direction of the Grimm, the boy decided to wait until the first creature would attack. Nevertheless, despite planning out his next course of action, Gawain was slightly nervous, facing danger all on his own.

When the first beast leaped out at Gawain, the boy stepped backward, drawing his sword for a horizontal counterattack while dodging the attack. However, before Gawain could properly take a stance, the next came at him,  jaws agape. Drawing his sword in a diagonal slash towards the beast, Gawain tried to step away but not before receiving a bit to the side of his clothes, opening a somewhat significant hole. With the third striking from behind him, a definite blind spot, Gawain turned too late and felt the bite hit his leg. Despite the pain, the boy stabbed the end of his sword into the Grimm's head before trying to kick away and regaining his ground.

The first creep had seen the boy regain his stance and was able to duck underneath the slash to which it sprang forward again this time aiming higher to take a huge chomp on the boy's shoulder. Because of the human's movements of turning around, the creep's aim is now towards its exposed back in the shoulder area.

The second creep was not fortunate enough to avoid the attack for its suspended motion in the air prevented it from manoeuvring away from a diagonal slash for that matter. The hit connected against its body, sending it to the ground with a loud whimper. But just as quickly, it regained its bearing using its powerful hind legs and it sprang back, aiming to take a bite on the boy's forearm holding the sword.

The third creep had managed to take a chomp out of the person's leg but it didn't let go. It twisted its head to tear away the flesh off and ran to the side like rabid dogs do to which it enabled it to dodge the sword from its head. It turned around to face the human again and growled, charging head on this time to bite the other leg.

With his right arm hanging down by his side, his sword dangling lightly by the tips of his fingers, Gawain groaned silently in pain. Despite his right leg sustaining a major injury, the boy refused to give up, knowing that he wouldn't be able to properly run away with a damaged leg. Waiting for the next attack by the three beasts, Gawain realized to himself that there certainly was no way he was going to be able to counterattack, dodge, or simply block all three Grimm with the state he was in, at least on the ground.

Clenching his teeth through the maneuver, Gawain lifted himself from the ground and into the air, drawing in his left arm and tossing it out to his side as he concentrated his Aura into a spot centimeters below him. Utilizing his Semblance, he successfully manifested a Glyph right below him, roughly a meter and a half off the ground but enough to dodge the attack from all directions. Nevertheless, with his Glyphs only able to last a moment for dissipating, Gawain had to act fast, quickly examining which was the cut Grimm before jumping off with his left leg first.

No matter how much pain the boy was in, he knew that he had to keep going until his enemies were dead. Gawain aimed to stomp onto the injured Grimm's back, only to use the Grimm's recoil to stab into its head and slice down the back of the creature, retreating a few meters away from the pack with a few back-steps. With the combination, whether failed or not, he hoped to finish off the creature and deal with the rest after. However, despite his thinking, Gawain dropped to the ground, only holding himself up with his left leg and sword as balance; he was still using his right leg far too much in his actions, causing Gawain's fall and possibly his end.

The three grimms all missed their targets as the human resulted to using the air to slip ever so slightly from their grasps. The two creeps almost collided against each other which resulted in an exchange of growling. They quickly turned to eye the opponent, snarling viciously at their prize in the air awaiting for its descent like a predator cornering their prey.

As all Creeps lacked intelligence, the second creep could not comprehend how the human was able to stay in the air for so long and was then hit by a painful stomp on its back. It made a loud growl and barrel rolled to its side in pain as a defense mechanism. The motion caused the attempted stab towards its head to hit the bony part that was his protective covering and slip away by a sliver of his life.

The other two didn't care about their brethren for they simply lunged at the boy like the savage beasts they were right as he landed. The first one attempted to bite at the boy's right waist, the scent of the blood coming from its leg overpowering. The third creep was running directly behind the first one but this one leapt over its brother to take a huge chomp out of the boy's right arm.

The second creep had quickly recovered and made a full turn towards the back of the boy to gain momentum then it shot forward, lunging himself into the air with its powerful hind legs attempting to stab him on his neck with its claws.

With the two beasts already heading after Gawain in the state he was, there was certainly no way he'd be able to dodge the attack. Instead, the boy rose his arm in front of him and tossed it out to the side as he created another Glyph in front of him, hopefully delaying the assault of both Grimm with a collision. Nevertheless, as always, the Glyph wouldn't last long, so the boy tried picking himself off of the ground, groaning to himself at his leg's pain; however, before he could start retreating away from the two, the damaged Grimm relentlessly made its next attack from the boy's back. Turning to face the Grimm, Gawain faced it head on as the beast made its leap, claws first. With only a bare moment to interact, Gawain made the choice that would, in the very least, decrease burden on his damaged leg.

Lunging forward, kicking off the ground with his left leg, Gawain stayed low enough for the beast's attack to scratch against the back of his torso's armor before stabbing into the belly of the creature as it started to fall to the ground. Refusing to let the Grimm cause anymore of a tantrum, Gawain advanced with the attack, falling with his sword's tip embedded in the Grimm's stomach to hold it down to the ground before using his body's weight to hold the creature down for a horizontal slice across its stomach, one side to the other. With his body so low to the ground, even if he was to kill the injured beast, the other two would already be charging at him. Setting up a Glyph above directly in front of him, the same direction as his last Glyph, Gawain waited for the next attack.

The second creep could not stop its motion midair and thus could only howl in pain as the blade pierced through its body. It tried to struggle against the boy's blade but the sword was deeply embedded on its body. What Creeps lacked in intelligence, they made up with strength and speed of their hind legs. The creep's bestial instincts kicked in, its primal nature to prioritise its survivability caused all of its senses to sharpen. In its final attempt to survive, it draw its mighty legs back and used it to push the boy off itself, causing the blade to retract from its body and the grimm itself to propel away from the human. Still bleeding and in pain, it howled and scampered away around the woods in rage, circling the human as it awaited to strike back.

The first and third creep finally broke through whatever force it was that stopped them from biting the human. Being the mindless savage beasts they are, they didn't understand what glyphs were and thus used the same attack pattern as before: brute force lunging. They sprang on their feet, the first creep aiming to take a chunk of the boy's neck while the the third creep aimed for the closest thing in its path, the boy's right forearm.

Having failed such a desperate moment of success, Gawain watched the two Grimm divert themselves around his Glyph as it started to disappear. With whatever little time he had, he forced his body into a roll, following the direction of his disappearing Glyph. Drawing his sword to the Grimm to his left, after successfully dodging its attack, Gawain sliced down against the side and stomach of the Grimm's while turning his entire body to the beast, only to suffer a minor injury on his armor from the other beast behind him.

Kicking off of the ground after the attack, Gawain turned another ninety degrees to face the two Grimm, analyzing their movements for their next attack while sneaking a peak at his surroundings to locate the next Grimm. Slowly but hopefully, Gawain was hopefully wittling the creatures down to their deaths, despite the pain in his leg with each maneuver.

The first creep could not turn around fast enough to dodge the human's blade since the boy rolled to the ground. It gave out a loud howl of misery as the sword sliced through its belly, making quite the deep gash. This however made room for the third creep to take a bite on the human. Its fangs were not strong enough to break through the armour but it did leave the boy injured. The first creep was whimpering and growling at the same time from its injury and rage towards the boy. Its brother joined him as they both faced the human male. Without a seconds rest, they took off and charged forward head on at the same time. Their powerful legs providing greater speed as they zigzagged each other before leaping off to take a bite off the human's shoulders and arms. The first creep targeting on the opponent's right arm while the other on the human's left.

The second creep, upon seeing its brothers charge from the front, it growled and circled around before springing out from the bushes, charging with all its might, desperation and will towards the human from behind to take a huge chomp off its left thigh.

With his right leg shaking somewhat violently, Gawain settled his right hand down by his leg to try and calm it down. Nevertheless, as the two started charging towards him in a rushed motion, Gawain crouched down to the ground before pushing off. With the same maneuver as before, the boy believed that he'd be able to stall for additional time to locate the second Grimm, allowing him to focus on the two remaining Creeps at hand; however, just as he summoned another Glyph, he collapsed on the Glyph, his right knee falling first. Even if he was making progress in battle, his condition wasn't improving at all, only worsening. In the very least, he was able to avoid the pack's attack for the time being.

Looking around the area to try and spot the injured Grimm, Gawain saw the beast dashing from behind him. Clenching his teeth with his next course of action, Gawain rose from his platform and immediately leaped off of it without any care for the repercussions. Coming down at the charging Grimm from an angle, Gawain used the additional length of his sword to catch the Grimm at the center of its face, stabbing it and forcing the blade as far in as he could. After landing on the ground with his right leg falling first, Gawain drew his sword away from the beast and started slowly retreating away from the pack of two, limping, however. He needed time to recuperate, and he had to make the time himself.

The second grimm had hoped to catch the human off-guard with the simultaneous attacks with his two brothers but instead, the blade had found its way on its head, the length in the human's advantage as the grimm couldn't attack him any further. Finally it succumbed to its injuries and dropped to the ground to its demise.

The first and third grimm didn't care. The third one had already charged towards the human right after he leapt out to kill the second grimm and is thus closer in range. Its jaws snapped open and attempted to bite the human from the front.

The first grimm dug underneath the ground, burrowing itself as it made its way towards the human before finally launching up right underneath the hunter to take a bite off its injured leg.

Nevertheless, the Grimm were relentless in their attacks. Even as their fellow member finally fell, the remaining two stayed on their goal with bloodlust in their eyes. Keeping his gaze focused on the Grimm charging at him, Gawain realized after a slight moment that the other was missing, gone from the battle. He wondered where it went, but he had to focus solely on the problem at hand.

Holding his ground, wielding his sword in both his hands, the boy waited for the charging beast to enter his sword's range before stepping to the right of the beast's path. Regardless of his decision, the beast bit at Gawain's front, cracking his chest armor and ripping a part of the cloth off. Despite the attack's force, Gawain was already in motion of his own attack, forcing his sword into the side of the beast's head and kicking the beast away to gain some distance to catch his breath.

Yet the boy was a fool to think he'd be able to think such a thing. When the creature appeared from below the ground, biting at Gawain's damaged leg, Gawain bent over in immense pain, slashing wildly at the creature before stumbling backwards and falling. Pained as he was, Gawain could barely move at all, shaking intensely as he angled his sword towards the Grimm, barely sitting up as he did so. In the condition he was in, the boy had to choose between fight or flight, possible life or death, victory or failure, and he didn't have enough time to think of an answer.

The third creep was able to rip a part of the boy's armour, going through to his clothing. It aimed to use his hind legs to claw the exposed flesh to additionally injure the human but its target moved to the side and delivered a strike to its head followed by a kick that sent the grimm tumbling away with a whimper. It scrambled back up to its legs and growled, quickly digging underground like his brethren and made its way towards the human. It then sprang to the surface with jaws wide open, aiming to chomp at the fallen human's right shoulder.

On the other hand, the first creep had successfully managed to take a bite off its prey's leg, aiming to take a chunk of flesh but was unable to due to the consecutive slashes directed to its head. One slash was fortunate enough to slice its left eye and it howled in pain, shaking its head side to side. After a brief pause, it lunged at the vulnerable prey that had fallen on the ground, growling with teeth bared to take a bite at the nearest thing to him - the boy's right leg.

Watching the beast lunge towards him as it had done so many times before, Gawain was barely able to swing his sword at the beast while retracting his right leg in immediately. Still, the blood loss was increasing at a rapid rate with the sudden movement. Following the retaliation, Gawain started slowly crawling away from the lonely beast, looking around the vicinity for the other creature; however, before Gawain finally noticed the third hole in the ground, he could feel the ground rumbling by his right side.

With the remaining Grimm arising from the earth, biting into his shoulder, Gawain cried out in silent pain, dropping his sword as he did so. Refusing to lose, however, he motioned his left hand towards the hilt, picking the sword up, and slashing at the Grimm, left to right, before ending the motion with a returning thrust into the side of the creature. Unable to use his right arm nor his right leg, Gawain had to rely solely on his knowledge and instincts to win the fight; no matter how bleak the chance of success was, given his state, Gawain knew he had to win, he had to survive.

The first creep would have normally been able to dodge a weak swing from the human's sword but its bleeding eye proved to be a huge handicap as the blade came swinging to its blind side. It couldn't do anything but to receive the full impact of the strike without even knowing what hit it. It collapsed on the ground for a brief moment before getting back up to its feet and located the human sprawled on the ground. At its final burst of raw desperation to survive, it retracted its powerful legs and sprung to the unsuspecting human's exposed back aiming to deliver a fatal blow on its neck.

The third creep wasn't fortunate enough to survive. Right after emerging from the ground, it did bite its target but it couldn't do anything from the simultaneous attacks of the sword. And with one final thrust, it pierced through its vitals organs and collapsed on the ground to its demise.

Removing his sword after the stab, Gawain watched with a heavy pant the Grimm disappear into thin air. With two of the monsters beat, Gawain drew his eyes towards the remaining Grimm that was already in the air, ready to strike. Rolling to his left to try and evade the fatal attack, the boy instead felt his right arm crushed under the force of the beast. Arching forward from the attack, he drove his sword into the side of the Grimm; furthermore, he forced his entire body to roll with the attack, trying to hold the Grimm down on the ground. Retracting his blade, Gawain spun his blade into a reverse grip and stabbed into the chest of the beast. Simultaneously, however, he fell off of the beast, landing on his left side, all because of his damaged right side.

As the bloody mess he was, Gawain could feel his body ready to give up if he took another blow, but even if he was almost beaten, he couldn't give up without giving his all until his dying breath.

The human wasn't satisfied and it was rolled to the ground before delivering a final stab to its chest. The grimm could no nothing but accepts it inevitable demise as it lay lifeless on the ground. Just like any other death of a grimm, it soon disintegrated into black ashes erasing any evidence of its existence.

From a distance, the sound of roaring engines of the airship echoed throughout Finnek Forest.

Lying on his back, Gawain stared lightly at the dissipating creature, knowing that he won the encounter. Throughout the battle, through each and every attack he took, Gawain kept going until the very end. He couldn't give up no matter what; he still had goals to meet, things to do, a life to live. Standing up from the grassy ground, using his sword as a prop, Gawain tiredly stared up to the sky, hearing the noises of the airships in the far distance. The boy lightly smiled to himself, knowing that he'd be home, safe and in the comfort of his friends and family; however, he also knew that he needed to be stronger, much stronger. Even if he won such a battle, he still wasn't strong enough. He desired power to protect others, to save humanity from the Creatures of Grimm... Limping forward, Gawain followed the sounds of the airships in the distance with his goals set.
