310 sheeps... 311 sheeps... 312 sheeps...

Avery spun her golden pistol in hand lazily, head lolled back against the trunk of the tree she'd been in for quite a while. Sitting atop a branch, she could make a out a few silhouettes from a distance - those of grimms - yet she couldn't be bothered to climb down and hunt them. The only reason she was here was due to a search and destroy mission that she was once again too lazy to do. The girl had already built quite the track record of hunts in her first few months of stay in the academy. They wouldn't mind if she came back empty-handed now. Maybe.

She spared a glance at her watch; still an hour before sun down.

"Three hundred fifteen-- gah! I'm bored!" Avy exclaimed and stood up on the branch, amber hair fluttering lightly with the breeze as she began dusting off her 'battle skirt' and off-shoulder top that she always wore during hunts.

Waaait.. at this time of the day, surely I'm not the only one out here for a hunt... which means...

A wicked grin curved on her lips and she jumped to the next tree, moving through the tree branches and scanning the ground for people to pick on for fun. Why the need to hunt grimms if she could hunt people to bully instead?

Kaiwen Zhu

Instinct and passion with a deadly sense of fashion, Kaiwen sported a black cropped jacket with no sort of emblems, over what seemed to be a traditional white buttoned up that fitted her quite nicely. Complementing her elfin like body, she wore black flats with her normal stockings up to a battle-skirt of her own. Beauty of a lotus, her clothes always draped over her and pronounced her sublime appeal. She had signed up for a hunt for the academy not thinking much of it.

Grimm were creatures she despised, but after battling so many grimm in her lifetime she hadn't met one she could not faced. Confident in her skill her weapons were as they always were, quick-draw holster at her waist and her teardrop buckler along its wrist mounted sheath. Her grace was apparent while she took quite the sublime strides through the forest, slowly sharpening her senses as she walked toward the silhouettes with an otherworldly confidence.

Boarder line angelic as it were, with Kaiwen's dignified stride she did not detect her Atlas sister within the trees as she simply took it for sounds within the forest. However, as she would approach the clearing to see the Grimm off in the distance she kept the forest behind her as if she was gracing the open world with her elegance. The starless haired beauty took a contented sigh and just closed her eyes with a smile as she just absorbed her surroundings that she was recording passively with her eyes.

The trees whizzed past her as the blonde continued to move in atypical speed, brilliant azure eyes fixated upon the ground scanning for any human presence. Almost immediately, her motion came into a halt as something caught her attention.

Avery folded her arms and stared down at the sight of another non-grimm creature in the area - a girl. Midnight-blue hair almost appearing black with a slender figure dressed in elegant clothing. Even with the girl's back towards her, she was unfamiliar to Avy which made the latter assume she was either an upperclassman or a first year like her but a new student. What made her more interested however, was the piece of equipment by the girl's waist holster - a gun. A gunslinger eh~

While the reasonable part of her brain was pulling her away from creating a mess during a mission, the boredom was eating her sanity. Her left hand shifted to her own holster strapped on her thigh and slid out one of her golden desert eagles. With a small smile, she aimed it down towards the girl and lower, particularly at the other girl's holstered gun.

A pull of the trigger sent a gunshot noise echoing throughout the forest with the single bullet speeding blindingly to its target. Avery made sure beforehand that her gun's settings were at its lowest as she wasn't aiming to injure, just a rather unique way of saying hello.

Avery sat on the tree branch, legs dangling playfully as she looked down at the girl. "Oops. Sorry about that~ You're not hurt, are you?" She asked in a mocking tone, flashing a small belittling smile.

Kaiwen Zhu

Animals when frightened usually go into a fight or flight response depending on the given situation, however Kaiwen stopped being an animal a long time ago. Through all of her training and genetic modifications, Kaiwen was simply built as a weapon and her reaction revealed this as there was not even the slightest forethought in her movements,it was purely muscle memory.

Upon hearing the echoing gunfire, she did not allow her thoughts or movements be exposed on an emotional level. Kaiwen's body immediately activated its aura, almost if automated, her eyes going a deep violet before she spun along her heel and toe. Unveiling the pistol within the same fluid movement and immediately dashing to the side. Her eyes would allow her to pinpoint the origin of attack and predict the linear trajectory of the bullet.

Letting loose a singular bullet of her own which would collide with the other bullet provided it didn't curve. Her aura powering up the bullet's punching and stopping power simply to punch the other one out of the sky. Kaiwen's orbs a piercing lavender as the trail of silky smoke rose from her pistol as well as the young woman's gaze toward the trees.

Even Kaiwen's movement to defend herself was exalted, holding such divinity in it with very little wasted movement. Without her semblance that bullet surely would've caught her by surprise, but her aura is too engraved into her muscle memory for her to be taken by surprise by a lofty attack, especially considering it was a greeting.

Once she saw the ivory haired woman, she kept her pistol raised. The woman's blue orbs looking down on Kaiwen both figuratively and literally. She recognized the woman's face from Atlas, but it has been so long that she hadn't remembered. It wasn't in Kaiwen's best interest to bring up Atlas, just in case if Avery recognized Kaiwen.

She remained silent keeping her violet covered eyes and calm demeanor. It didn't seem like the woman was going to be aggressive but she couldn't be too sure. And it was quite obvious from the bullet parry that she was unharmed as it were. Not showing an ounce of emotion from her face until the woman mocked the raven haired lass, only then would Avery see a smirk slide across Kaiwen's gentle features.

Hmm~

Avery had to admit, she was slightly impressed at the girl's response to her greeting. Dodging a speeding bullet coming from one's back was one thing, but to whip out her pistol and parry the bullet with her own was something she hadn't seen another gunslinger do before, except herself of course. Something flashy like that wasn't too far fetched for a flamboyant person like her.

What's more, the other girl's bullet had more power in it so much so that after parrying her own, it still went straight through and wheezed past the side of Avy's head, missing her cheek by inches. She raised an eyebrow.

"Heeh~ Impressive. And here I thought I'm the only decent gunslinger around. Seems I was up for a surprise." Avy stated with a smirk. Despite her arrogance, she did give credit when credit was due.

She noticed the elegant violet-coloured eyes; how peculiar for an eye colour yet an indication that she was someone she hadn't seen in the academy before. And that made her all the more interested. With how she handled her gun, the girl was either a skilled upperclassman or a new student with much potential.

Avy slid her gun back to her holster and folded her legs, propping an elbow on top with her chin on her hand while still looking down at the girl.

"So are we just gonna stare at each other or you're gonna introduce yourself?"

Once the woman up above her began talking and no longer had her weapon unsheathed, Kaiwen closed her eyes and allowed her aura to return back to normal with a deep sigh to simply relax her body and ease her mind. She wasn't one to show off but her preferred method of defense was offense and it was easier to remove the attack from the equation then attempt to dodge. Her eyes returned back to their ebony hue to match her obsidian hair as she returned her gaze back to Avery, lowering her weapon.

She slides her gun back within its holster, but not after unloading the clip and reloading a tenth bullet. She did this quickly as the sound of their gunfire would most likely attract the beasts ahead but not from fear but just purely to be prepared. Kaiwen kept her silence listening to the woman's words quietly before walking over toward the tree, still keeping her gentle stride along the surface of the ground.

She sighed ever so lightly only because of the obnoxiousness of the greeting as the compliment could've been given to her on the battle field. "Kaiwen. Kaiwen Zhu." Her tone staying tender as it was apparent that this was her natural voice, divine as an angels, forever welcoming. She was not going to inquire Avery's name as she needed to make sure or at the very least wanted to make sure that Avy did not link Kaiwen to the atrocity that was her mother and her ruined company.

Despite being slightly tense, since Kaiwen didn't take battle of any kind too lightly, she could still offer up more of a smile to Avery. It was better that a student was surprising her then a Grimm, peering back toward the silhouettes occasionally to make sure they are not making their way to the two young women.

Avery should've expected she'd receive no more than three words from the rather mysterious girl. Though she didn't think she'd give her name away so easily and not ask for an identification back. Avy didn't mind; anonymity was best in her favour.

"Kaiwen hmm? Not a common name," the blonde stated. She paused as she stared at the dark-haired's ebony gaze. "Though now that I think of it, it sounds familiar... Like I've heard it before? Somewhere... in the past..." she added ever so slowly with a hint of a smile. Whether she was telling the truth or simply toying with the enigmatic girl to force a reaction, her intentions were perfectly hidden behind an emotionless facade.

Eventually, she tore her gaze away and shifted to the silhouettes afar that the dark-haired kept peering on. Grimms? Avy couldn't help a chuckle. "You mean to tell me you can deflect bullets coming from behind, yet you worry over petty grimms like those?" She shook her head in amusement and returned her gaze back at Kaiwen. "The one in front of you if more dangerous, you know. Are you sure you should be holstering your gun? For all you know, I might be some bad guy with my peasants waiting to ambush you and kill you or something dramatic like that." she added nonchalantly with a shrug.

At this point she was simply passing time. The person below her, albeit reserved, was oddly providing her some fun.

A single, relatively small nevermore soared across the open skies above Skylight Woods, seeking out both humans and fauness alike. Hearing gunshots and knowing that such a noise would only come from human or fauness, the nevermore began it's approach towards the direction of Avery and Zaiwen.

Despite being so high in the sky and well beyond the range of a normal persons sight, the nevermore spotted both Avery and Zaiwen through glimpses through the leaves in the forest canopy with vision that would rival that of a hawks.

The nevermore began its silent decent towards the two students, launching large projectile like feathers at them as it did, pulling a technique similar to a strafing run. Before the nevermore would fly into the forest canopy, it veered up, swooping high back into the sky.

Damage:

Nevermore have a bone like armor that covers a majority of their entire head as well as their entire beak. Attacks to these parts of the Grimm will not be that effective.

Kaiwen Zhu
She narrowed her eyes at the woman for just a moment. It was customary and proper etiquette to give your identification when asking for another but it seemed the woman infront of her lacked such. Kaiwen didn't mind however, it was unnecessary for now. She listened to the woman's words and deduced that she was lying quite swiftly, if the woman had known of who.. what Kaiwen was, she'd have her arrested, captured or worse. She'd be obligated too.

The raven haired beauty brushed a few strands of hair behind her ear as she continued to eye the woman and take notice of her surroundings constantly, continuously peering behind her to see the other Grimm behind her. Then after listening to Avy's next statement Kaiwen peered up once more, offering a neutral relaxed face as she allowed the voluble woman continue her discourse as if she was speaking to a grand audience.

Kaiwen could see this woman had a thing for theatrics as she still has not come down from the tree, while continuously speaking down to the woman. As an angel would look down from heaven to Kaiwen who, at times, fancied herself that of a fallen one or a fiend. After listening to the woman's reasoning to the Grimm vs the ivory haired individual that stood before her, Kaiwen couldn't help but let out a faint burble that simply just complimented her overall tame dignified grace.

The laughter however was short lived as the woods around them remained still, bar the grimms in the distance and the gab of the two beauties. Then disturbing such silence was... something, incoming at high speed. Ripping through the leaves and the upper trees, Kaiwen spun around, identical and just as sharp as her previous turn activating her semblance to see what was attacking her.

She had a moments notice to react as ebony projectiles came raining down upon the two. Kaiwen while spinning leaped backwards pulling out her pistol immediately and firing upon several of the much more swift feathers with her empowered attacks, blasting several of them out of the sky that she could not dodge with massive punching power, before bringing her form behind the tree Avy was lying in. Her clothes slightly torn by the feathers that she did not bother dodging as their attacks were negligible. The tree though would get shredded by the rest of the black shrapnel of the Grimm but it would offer the partial cover Kaiwen needed to avoid the attack.

Kaiwen's eyes illuminated a deep lavender as she looked toward the sky in an attempt to locate what attacked them. She may have had enhanced vision inside of her field of view but she could not make out what attacked them from such a far distance. All she could hear was the resounding swoop of the bird before it ascended back into the sky and maintained it's distance. Kaiwen would just simply eject the clip and reload as a silent response, as her teardrop shield ignited shortly after.

No response. Not a single word. Nada.

So Avy stood corrected. The dark-haired beauty wasn't a silent type; she was the super silent type. It would seem Avery's plan to force a reaction from her backfired as she was the one feeling annoyed at the person's nonchalance. She scoffed and sat up, flipping her amber strands back. "Oh yeah? Well I was talking to this tree anyway. Psh." Avy said in annoyance.

However, their conversation, or lack thereof, was cut short by the rain of black feathers. Avery wasn't prepared. A combination of looking down at the dark-haired and her overall general unawareness caused her to miss the presence of a small Nevermore in the air. She barely had time to realise a high speed feather was coming her way and her reflex kicked in, moving backward to put distance in order to give her time to shift ever so lightly to the side, missing the feather's tip by inches.

The motion though caused her to lose her balance from the tree and she ended up plummeting down. Oh give me a break, she grumbled. Twisting her body in the air, she placed a hand on the ground as she landed and pushed herself up to flip back into her feet. Almost immediately, she whipped out both golden pistols and fired bullets at the feathers coming her way, opening up a path for three clear shots towards the Nevermore's tail, right and left wing as the bird ascended.

Avery sighed while reloading her guns and holstering them back. She really wasn't in the mood to deal with this grimm right now and as her eyes shifted to the other gunslinger by the tree, an idea popped up in her head.

"Ahh! Ow~ My ankle! I think I sprained it from that fall." She whined and feigned limping towards Kaiwen. As she reached her, her arms slid around the latter's, clinging onto her with no regards to her personal space as usual. "Oh no! The pain! It's unbearable! I'm gonna die!" she exclaimed overdramatically then flashed a smile and mustered her best puppy dog eyes for added effect. "Carry me?"

By instinct, the Nevermore continued to gain altitude, spinning its body as it did, doing barrel wheels and other evasive maneuvers.

Despite all of it's efforts, it was unable to dodge the large incoming wave of bullets as they were simply too much, battering the back of the bird as it attempted to gain altitude (-40 HP + -35 HP). In no time, the bullets completely shredded apart the Nevermore which simply came apart in the sky, dispersing into a cloud of black ashes.

Kaiwen watched silently as Avy fell from the tree and in excellent form, twisted within the air and landed with fluid movements to another as she sprung herself up. She was still a bit unsure who the woman was until she saw the ivory queen's golden guns for herself and superb accuracy. Atlas weaponry with training and expertise reminiscent of the tales of the nightfrost family.

The bullets pelted the Grimm as she saw the ebony creature once it howled into the sky in pain and then dissipated quite quickly. Kaiwen doesn't fully know why she was surprised by Avy's nonchalant attitude, but seeing as she just riddled a grimm with bullets as if the beast was more of a pest than anything else still shocked her a bit even if slightly. However it didn't shock her enough to show on her face or her body language but this time she wasn''t lowering her semblance.

Kaiwen's rose up and walked toward Avy with her lavender orbs as the woman feigned limping, once Avy essentially collapsed on the raven haired lass she just smirked lightly, "I was not aware the Nightfrosts were so fragile." she said coyly, her soothing cultivated tone followed by the raven haired woman's light smirk was slightly off putting.

Since Avy was up close she could see Kaiwen's piercing lavender orbs but more importantly the aura that would normally surround an individual when using their semblance would burn much brighter than hers. There was only the slightest hue surrounding her form, as if it was quite faint and contained. Almost as if there was more that met the eye outside of her already indigo orbs glowing brightly.

Almost, like the subtle purple surrounding her form was just a compliment to her already regal presence. She knew that Avy was not injured and she certainly would not carry her but seeing her be able to keep a lighthearted tone around the Grimm gave Kaiwen a bit of relief.

Avery continued to cling onto the ebony-haired girl acting all pitiful and hoping she'd grant her request. For a second there she was even captivated by Kaiwen's up close smile until the girl dropped a single statement that caught Avery off-guard. Her eyes widened and she was visibly frozen for a moment until everything registered in her in-denial mind.

"Wha-- you--" Avery was quick to slip away from their linked arms as though the touch scorched her skin. She gave a small laugh passing it of as the most ridiculous statement in the world. "W-what ever do you mean? You must've been so scared of that bird that the fear is getting to your head. Heh. Nightfrost? What? I have no idea what you're talking about," she said and gave her best impression of a casual shrug.

As she spared a glance at the taller girl however, those piercing amethyst stare didn't help her diminishing demeanour and Avery averted her gaze, suddenly finding the pebbles on the ground interesting. She internally admonished herself, hating the fact that a conversation was not in her favour for once.

And just when she was about to retaliate, a vibration from her pocket caught her attention. The blonde took out her phone and saw three blinking red lights on the map approaching their location. "What good timing," she murmured and returned her phone before pressing a button at the back of her choker and thigh accessory to activate her armour.

"Let's save the chat for later. Seems my search and destroy mission came to find me instead," Avery stated in a matter-of-fact tone. Then she just had to glare at the girl. "And do remember I'm not done with you yet. Tsk."

The sound of gunshots attracted the attention of Nevermore's which soared the skies miles from Avery's and Kaiwen's location. As the pack of Nevermore's approach, they managed to just catch sight of another one of their kind being quickly reduced to black ashes as was the nature of defeated Grimm.

These approaching Nevermores were different from the one that was just defeated though, and were much larger, much stronger, and much more dangerous. Approaching Avery and Kaiwen's location silently through the sky, Nevermore 1 began it's assault from a near horizontal position of the forest canopy. It swooped down into the the forest with it's wings fully extended. It tore through the trees, knocking over any obstacle in it's way as well as reduce cover for the hunters to hide amongst.

Nevermore 2 followed behind, swooping down vertically, it's talons extended. Nevermore 2 came directly down on Avery just after Nevermore 1's maneuver, and intended to tear her apart.

Nevermore 3 also came down vertically just moments after Nevermore 1's assault. With it's talons extended, Nevermore 3 tried to land on top of and claw Kaiwen.

The raven haired lass shrugged from Avy's statements with a coy tone, "Perhaps." she stated quietly, Kaiwen couldn't help but giggle at Avy's immediate shun of Kaiwen's form, it was quite humorous. However, with the much large creatures adorning the sky and Avy dawning on her actual armor. It was clearly time for the finale of their endeavor and considering how quickly Avy disposed of the last Grimm without even the slightest thought, Kaiwen had no worries about protecting her comrade.

The raven haired beauty strode next to Avy with her usual grace as she turned to look at her phone, pulling up on her stockings and adjusting her skirt. She giggled once more from Avy's words, "Of course." she replied in her usual gentle tone.

The nevermore began to descend upon the duo and Kaiwen could see the creatures perfectly swarming through the trees at an impressive speed. However, regardless of how fast, nimble or destructive, Kaiwen's lavender orbs could see their movements with great precision.

She saw as the first nevermore swooped to turn into the battlefield into rubble and swept to attack them both, but the creature was not aware of the pitch-dark crowned woman's intentions let alone her superior agility.

Kaiwen leaped over the charge of the first Nevermore, sprinting along its back she used the added momentum to leap through the 3rd nevermore's claws, performing an aerial flip through its talons while it descended. Kaiwen's agility on full display not with her almost celestial display of dexterity.

As she passed through the 3rd Nevermore's attack deftly, she would grab a hold of its wing flipping herself upright before letting loose a torrent of bullets along down its back as she ran down the creature's spine, her powerful bullets blasting along the creature's body at point-blank range would clearly have repercussions which is why she kept on the move.

Avery lightly bit the hair tie on her wrist and slid it off proceeding to fix her hair up into a ponytail. By this time the sun had started to set, casting a soft orange glow on the horizon as a quick reminder that she had to finish the hunt soon. She spared a glance at the raven-haired elegance beside her before returning her gaze ahead. "Just to let you know, beware of friendly fires," she said.

Soon enough a Nevermore emerged from the woods. The blonde remained still, a faint white circular insignia spanned on the ground beneath her. When the grimm was a hair's breadth, Avery unsheathed her gun, her free hand pressing down on the bird's head to use it as a leverage to flip herself over the grimm and land on its back. She was quick to locate her objective - the fold joining the right wing of the Nevermore to its body, and released high-calibre bullets on that wing's joint hoping to cripple the bird.

With the trees out of the way, it was hard to miss another giant bird descending at her. She switched her golden gun to its second form: the flamethrower gauntlet, and pointed it at the incoming grimm above. Avery noted the Nevermore she was on was now directly over the circular insignia she placed on the ground, and that was all she needed to know.

Her eyes burned a bright blue along with the markings on the ground as her semblance activated, creating an explosion of ice shrapnels bursting from underneath and damaging the first Nevermore with intent to freeze it in place. Simultaneously, her weapon triggered raging blue flames at the second Nevermore, aiming to scorch its underbelly and wings. Her weapon's recoil pushed her off the bird's back and sent her several metres away from the birds, effectively avoiding the Nevermore's talons. As she landed on the ground, she whipped out her other pistol and sent a barrage of bullets on the second Nevermore's left wing hoping to render it useless as well.

Nevermore 1 was slow to react to Avery landing on it's back, and as a result, Avery's bullet barrage on Nevermore 1 landed successfully, clipping the Grimm in the wing joint (-70 HP). Unaware of the insignia trap Nevermore 1 had walked into, it fell prey to the sudden ice explosion which not only damaged it, but also froze it in place, crippling it's movements (-20 HP + Frozen Status Affliction). Before Avery would release her flamethrower on Nevermore 2, Nevermore 1 tried to peck at Avery who was still on it's back, intending to impale the student with it's beak.

Nevermore 2's attack missed Avery and was completely defenseless against her flamethrower attack, which consumed the Nevermore partly in flame, catching some of it's tail feathers ablaze (-70 HP + Burn Status Infliction). Immediately though, Nevermore 2 kicked off of the ground with immense strength, shaking the ground as it did, launching itself into the sky with ridiculous speed. Then using its wing, Nevermore 2 began to quickly maneuver across the airspace above Avery and Kaiwen, completely avoiding Avery's bullet barrage. Several hundred meters up into the sky, Nevermore 2 flipped it's body around, then rained loose its own barrage of feathers, bombarding the entire ground below it.

The moment Kaiwen landed on Nevermore 3's back, it tried to violently shake her off. In the process of doing so though, it took the couple of bullet barrages directly to it's back (-45 HP + -45 HP). Screeching, Nevermore 3 jumped foreward, and as it did, it flipped it's body around, intending to crush Kaiwen under itself.

Keeping on the move Kaiwen's violet gaze watched the chaos ensue from the sapphire beauty's barrage on the three Nevermores, she was like a one-woman-army and Kaiwen was directly in the middle of it all and she couldn't do anything but slightly grin while dashing along the Nevermore's back. 'Friendly fire huh?' the thought scurrying across her mind like a rodent on a wheel chasing a piece of cheese as she pondered the faint irony with a giggle. The Jet butterfly didn't stop as discord surrounded her with one nevermore being frozen, the other lit on fire... speaking of which.

Her algorithms floating all around her as her eidetic memory kicked in high gear. The fiery Nevermore raining hell fire on the two women was a sight to behold but... it was just a high level simulation. Similar to wall ball or dodgeball with multiple assailants, she kept her balance on the Nevermore focusing strictly on dodging the ember rain of feathers and allowing the Nevermore under her to be pelted by its brethren. It was glorious, the queen's elegance and deftness on full display. Kaiwen just let out little chuckles as she danced, corkscrew flipped and cartwheeled along the beast's back. Once the Nevermore turned over to crush her however, she viewed it as submission and just decided to let loose her pistol and its ridiculous punching power.

With the beast shaking and falling to the earth she would riddle the Nevermore with a barrage of bullets, hopefully slaying the beast as there was no where else for it to go if it was looking to smash Kaiwen into the earth. While descending upside down Kaiwen's algorithms that usually would surround her mentally pointed to only one conclusion... to her being crushed. Her focus on dodging the burning feathers kept her ontop of the Nevermore's back. She closed her eyes let out a silent sigh and decided it was time to activate the second aspect of her semblance, albeit briefly. As the graceful black rose whispered quietly, "Corridor's... Mate."

The subtle aura around the starless woman ignited into a full blown inferno of lavender aura, Kaiwen's hair rising for a sharp limited moment from the blast of aura that streamed through her body. The raven haired sovereign's aura shaping into a physical form immediately, not taking its normal ethereal form. The towering avatar surrounding Kaiwen for several brief moments, with its hefty arms almost surrounding her as a mother's embrace; Just barely touching the teen. The avatar stood as a behemoth compared to Kaiwen's amazing height as well. While descending to the earth at a steady rate she leaped into the big hands of her avatar and simply pointed, her voice becoming slightly above a whisper. "Throw... Hard."

It was at that moment her avatar winded up and launched her with an intense vigor like a human missile. Immediately after Kaiwen was airborne she dismissed the avatar before the Nevermore crashed into the ground and retained the subtle hue of aura with her lavender eyes. It was clear Kaiwen was trying to hide that aspect of her power, which if hidden would make Kaiwen appear almost inhuman but would keep her ability hidden. The momentum of her body would land with thunderous force and she'd hit the first nevermore breaking into a tumble before standing up next to Avy, a couple strands of hair flowing out of her headdress as she ejected the clip, counting 8/10 bullets used and decided to reload watching the Nevermore attempt to peck at the cerulean queen.

Avy Frost

Avy Frost
The first Nevermore's attack would have connected except... Avery had two hands. Catching sight of the movement from the corner of her eye, her free hand took out her other pistol and shifted to its gauntlet form in time to block it, using its smooth surface to slide and redirect the beak away from herself.

Thereafter, she watched as the other grimm took flight and missed all her bullets. Now that it ran away, Avery decided to focus on the frozen bird instead. She dashed to it's backside and showered it with bullets knowing it couldn't defend itself from that position. She moved on to pelting its wings next and would've finished it off if it weren't for the sudden blunt pain at the back of her left leg.

Avery almost collapsed on her knee but regained her bearing and turned to look over her shoulder, eyes narrowing at the second Nevermore that she thought had already left. Despite her left leg aching, she sidestepped, shifted and used minimal movements to avoid the rain of feathers by a very small margin, barely moving away from her original position. This resulted with her ending in the middle of a feather field.

As Kaiwen landed beside Avery just outside the row of feathers, the blonde simply spared a glance at the girl before disposing her guns' empty magazines and reloading them with a quick swipe to the back of her waist holster. Her eyes begin to emit a faint glow as an ice board materialised by her feet. "Finish it for me, will you," she stated lowly in an unconscious tone of a command rather than a request, indicating to the frozen Nevermore. "I'll deal with the other pest."

With that, Avery stepped on the ice board and it shot forward, ascending in a blinding speed and steep angle towards the second Nevermore with her blazing orbs leaving a trail of blue light. She sped past the bird, made a sharp turn, her pistols morphing to their second form and pointed the gauntlets down to release flames all over the bird's body. The recoil as usual pushed her higher up in the air and since her flames were now out of range, the weapon shifted back to its gun form and rained down piercing bullets on the flying grimm.

GRIMM ENCOUNTER HARD
Grimm Type: Nevermore
Count: 3
Level: 6
Nevermore 1 - 30/260; Frozen 2 Posts
Nevermore 2 - 105/260; Burned
Nevermore 3 - 80/260
5 Damage Resistance

Nevermore 1 couldn't move to evade Avery's shower of bullets, each which hit the targetted spots (-70 HP + -70 HP). Before being completely finished off though, Avery had left it to battle Nevermore 2 high in the sky. All that remained somewhat near it was Kaiwen, who was just out of it's immobilized reach. Though it couldn't reach Kaiwen, Nevermore 1 had one last desperate move. It let out a blood curling screech, a screech which would severely damage any normal persons ear drums if they were standing relatively near it.

Master of the sky, Nevermore 2 was quickly maneuvering in order to attempt to dodge Avery who challenged it in it's domain. It was still in flames, and was taking damage from it (-15 HP) It quickly dove and dropped altitude to avoid the flames from Avery's flame throwers. It quickly rotated it's body to once again face Avery, and as it did, her gunshots impacted and hit the Nevermore in it's torso (-70 HP). It wasn't enough to fully drop the Nevermore, and it responded with it's own barrage of projectile feathers.

Nevermore 3 was fully expecting that Kaiwen would fight back before being crushed under the Grimm's weight. It got hit with the first couple barrages of bullets (-45 HP + -45 HP), but it still reacted quickly. Whilst Kaiwen was unloading her clips on it, the Nevermore quickly spun it's body before hitting the ground. It was attempting to either throw her off, or force her to cease her off. After impacting the ground, Nevermore 3 pushed itself off of the ground, quickly propelling itself foreward to avoid the incoming fiery, feathery rain. Then, it flipped it's body around just after landing back on the ground, to face Kaiwen who was now a distance from it. Spreading it's wings, the Nevermore launched a barrage of feathers at her.

Kaiwen Zhu

The lilac eyed consort gave just the faintest of nods at Avy's seriousness. It was slightly surprising given Avery's earlier penchant for teasing, it must've been her communication language she thought. However the seriousness was refreshing, as Kaiwen just acknowledged her seriousness with a calm imperial demeanor that continued to cling to lovely woman.

As Avy set off Kaiwen turned to the beast loading up and getting ready to blast the Grimm, assuming it defeated. It was that moment in which a reverberation bounced between her ears violently and Kaiwen could hear nothing for a few brief moments other than a high pitched ringing which disoriented the raven haired queen for several moments.

Disoriented, Kaiwen fired off more shots than she needed too at the frozen Nevermore almost in a light panic. Kaiwen was a sovereign of pure logic and as such could not understand the instinct that came with the Nevermore's desperate attempt at such an attack at near death. She would collapse afterwards grasping her head firmly, the ebony woman was actually quite fragile as she let out quite a few loud groans.

Her vision blurred, Kaiwen caught a glimpse of another Nevermore spreading its wings with her lavender orbs. She fired off two empowered gunshots; the last bit of her precision and focus as the first bullet was aimed at center mass, the 2nd was slightly higher so if the bird attempted to take off it would get clipped and still be a hit. With her added punching power giving the bullets a great little kick before she became bombarded with razor feathers.

The attack launching her back quite a few feet. The shock from the screech completely threw her off and she was clearly in danger as the shaken saint was on the ground, slowly getting up with torn clothes and a complete lack of focus. The violet light in her eyes fading into the blackness that was her natural obsidian eyes.

Avery was pleased. She loved nothing more than killing grimms in their own domain simply to assert absolute dominance. The young Frost might be lacking in several aspects of combat due to her inexperience, but semblance and gunslinging were her forte. Aboard her ice creation and wielding her guns, Avery possessed the same threat in the air as she had on land.

Since Nevermores release feathers from their wings which meant they couldn't use those wings to move around or redirect their attack during the process, she only had to descend and manoeuvre away from the line of fire of the bird's feather projectile with the help of her ice board to completely void the attack. It opened up an opportunity for her to release bullets against its wings and body.

Aiming to finish it off, the blonde ascended higher over the bird at an angle where this Nevermore and the third one Kaiwen was engaging to was parallel to each other. She aimed her golden guns down and held the trigger, releasing a fury of bullet rain aimed at the flying grimm. If it decided to move away or if it had already died from her attack earlier, the bullets would still stay true to its path and pierce the bird on the ground instead.

Immobilized and near death, Nevermore 1 could not evade Kaiwen's point blank gunshots on it (-30 HP). Even if it did survived, Avery's aerial bullet barrage would have quickly finished it off.

Even stopping for a brief moment, Nevermore 2 immediately became a standstill target for Avery to attack. Before it could react, or really do much else, the flaming Nevermore was quickly gunned down by Avery's which quickly shred the Grimm apart, reducing it to black ashes.

Nevermore 3 quickly took off the moment Kaiwen started firing bullets in its direction. Nevermore 3 dodged Kaiwen's initial bullet fired at it, but the second hit it in midair, impacting its right wing (-45 DMG). Although it wasn't enough time to completely finish off the Grimm, it was enough to momentarily stall the Grimm, just enough time for Avery to finish it off from above with a barrage (-35 HP). Instantly, Nevermore 3 fell to the ground, and began to disperse in black ashes, as was the nature of Grimm.

Kaiwen Zhu

It was clear the courtly empress was badly hurt, but she slowly picked herself up after watching the last of the beasts fall. As a woman of pure logic a truly surprising or desperate attack would always take her off guard, she couldn't understand the mindset to fighting to the last breath especially when all options have been discarded. The woman picked herself up slowly to a kneel groaning a bit as she looked to the tree that braced her momentum.

While raising up she brushed the heavy amount of debris along her body before approaching toward Avery. She brushed the hair out of her face before offering a bit of a weak grin. "So, night frosts aren't so fragile." she said coyly. The raven haired lass standing next to Avy now, with her equally as jet gaze flashing between the woman's weapons and back to herself while she continued to stand tall, or attempt too.

Despite being rocked along by feathers and the previous screech she still kept an overlying grace about her movements, hell, even an injured Kaiwen was magnific and imposing enough to be more regal than the regular mass of hunters and huntresses. As she looked toward where the Grimm dissipated she let out a sigh and looked over the woman once more.

Seeing her seriousness when it came to battle and how she handled herself was much more practiced than Kaiwen. Despite her abilities she was still caught off guard, in which, Avy's composure was much more admirable. "Unless, you'd like to tell me your name, Ms. Not-Nightfrost." her tone was was still quite coy despite the beating she just took. However, she kept a gentle and smooth tone, catching her breath only momentarily.

Still in the skies amount her ice board, Avery stared down silently at the winged beasts as they dispersed into black ashes that were the nature of grimms' demise. She reloaded and holstered her guns before descending to the ground, feeling satisfied as she hopped off her ice board.

"Whew! That was nice. Haven't had a good warm up in a while~" Avery said, removing her ponytail and letting her golden strands cascade back down. As her eyes shifted to Kaiwen however, a small frown curved her lips eyeing her torn clothing and weakened state. "I leave you for a minute and come back to see you in the brink of death?" she asked with a snicker, approaching the girl and wordlessly placing a finger on her chin. She tilted the raven-haired's face side-to-side while eyeing the area around her face, neck and nape to look for injuries.

"At least your pretty face isn't hurt. Would've been better if those nevvies shut your mouth though." The blonde stated as she glared at the girl for continuously saying her last name. "My name's..." Avery paused short of introducing herself as a thought came to mind and she grinned. "You can call me Ms. Stress~"

Chuckling at her lame attempt to play with Kaiwen, the blonde took out her keys from her pocket and pressed a button, signalling her motorbike on autopilot to move to her location. While waiting for their ride, she started poking the other girl's stomach and abdominal area. As much as she wouldn't admit it out loud, she was concerned of the state of the girl. "Does it hurt? Are you bruised or bleeding internally? Also what was that creepy doll you summoned earlier? It was cool. Creepy but cool." Avery nodded.
