Flash Driver

Flash Driver
The moon was glorious on that night. A broken bauble in the sky, surrounded by it's friends; the many starts and galaxies beyond. Even in it's disheveled state, it's beauty was retained. The machine bellow did, from time to time, wonder if it could be fixed. A couple steel girders, a lot of work and a community effort could put it right perhaps... though was there more beauty in leaving it as it was. As a memento in the night sky.

Geez, thinking like that. The machine guessed that made him a Lunar-tic. An idiot of a galactic scale.

The tall droid was making his way through the deep blue forest, however, not even the dead of night could obscure this metal man. Nor could it obscure his surrounding from him. Built in night-vision guided his way, as if the back-light on his screen wasn't enough. Lighting up all his head turned toward.

The droid was garbed, as usual, not at all. Though, slung on his back was something he did not usually carry. His shotgun, a weapon he was proficient and skilled with through programming... though really did not like the look of nor the reputation it would give him if he was seen carrying it. The new black paint-job was to distinguish it from him as much as possible. It may have been part of his past, but it was a small facet of his being now.

It was slung over his shoulder as the droid was too focused on the device clutched in his hands. A grimm locator, a device he had come into by chance around Christmas time and never got around to using. He supposed that, being a hunter in training, it was in his interest to get in a little literal practice... even if he could run simulations to his heart's content and program in all he had to learn. There had been reports of grimm size escalating, he had to protect the fleshy ones of the city.

Flash found himself at a clearing, just off the beaten path. Before him shone a large blip on the radar, that meant the grimm was close by. It could be as close as a few meters. With all the courage his steel would allow for Flash Driver trudged forward. Heavy metal feet padding through the grassy forest. Prepared to trigger his semblance like a cowboy draw his pistol in all those westerns he'd watch.

Even in the dark of the night, all Griffons had sight that was far superior to the capabilities of a normal human. Even from several hundred meters above the ground, a Griffon can spot a rodent on the surface of the planet. Not that rodents mattered to Griffons. All Grimm only seek out to slay humans and fauness after all.

A single, particular Griffon flying alone on this night high above Finnek Forest spotted Flash down on the forest floor. Mistaking the android for a human or fauness, the Griffon's full focus was now on Flash. The Griffon let out a loud hawk-like screech before it changed its flight pattern to a sudden descent leading towards Flash.

It's descent caused the Griffon to pick up acceleration as it moved in towards Flash. Flying through the dark, the Griffon extended it's talons as it swooped by Flash, intending to claw at him. Right after it swooped by Flash, the Griffon angled itself upwards, attempting to put distance between itself and Flash quickly, using a sort of hit and run technique.

"Oh, oop. Yes hello Mister Grimm. I'm sorry for what I'm about to have to do but you're kinda mean!"

The tall droid informed, as if his opponent would read, as the horse like beast crashed by and scratched into his iron chest. He looped the grimm tracker's wrist strap around his wrist, unfeeling as the beast attempted to tear his chest open to little avail. As the bird attempted to bound over him and make an escape his semblance flared up, electricity coursing all over his metal body. With his inhuman jumping prowess the droid leapt backward in a starfish style; a simple brush against the beast would send a powerful shock-wave throughout it's body.

The droid ended up flat on his back, staring at the sky above him... he stopped himself being enamored by it again. Quickly rising and drawing the shotgun from his back. He took aim at the creature, wanting it to die as quickly and painlessly as possible. Geez this gun felt heavy in his hands, despite him knowing it's exact weight and makeup of materials. He undid the safety.

With a weapon like this being accurate wasn't particularly necessary. The spread would do the work for him if he were roughly on point. And so he rushed forward after the bird, firing from the hip. A first shot, then a pump, a second shot, then a pump. He then stopped, keeping some optics fixated upon the bird as he reloaded the two shells he had spent.

Flash's first shot missed the Griffon, shooting just under it. The second shot however, clipped the Griffon in the wing, knocking it out of the air (-35 HP). The Griffon came tumbling out of the air before it could fully swoop up high into the sky, crashing into the ground.

The Griffon quickly regained it's footing and flipped it's body around, letting out another Hawk-like screech. Then, the Griffon bolted into a full ground sprint, charging at the android, intending to slam Flash with the bone-like armor that covered it's head.

Flash brought his shotgun up horizontally to block as the beast reared it's head, charging toward his chest. As he did however the weapon was torn from his grasp, flying past his head, and the winged beast ended up with it's hard head pushing against his chest. Flash remained upright, heels digging into the dirt behind him. He weighed far more than this horse like beast, he was larger than it to.

He first gripped the poor beast's neck, in an attempt to crush it. Second activating his soul generator, turning aura to electricity which would course from the metal on his body to the bird, then the droid brought his leg up, attempting to knee the beast in the chin. The hard bone skull of the bird would protect it, however the point of this attack was more so to disorientate and shock the downed horse.

Upon his knee being brought up he would, releasing the beast had it not escaped his grasp, rush forward in a top heavy stumble before grinding to a slow turning halt. Turning back to the beast. His shotgun far from reach. Once more he prepared to trigger the electricity which would course over his body and deal blows to the beast.

"...^^II I really don't like this kind of thing Mister Griffon, I hope you're understanding... this hurts me emotionally a lot, even if it doesn't physically."

Not expecting Flash to keep ground after head bashing into the android, the Griffon dropped it's own guard, leaving itself open as Flash grabbed it's neck. The android's grip caught the Griffon around it's neck, and caused some damage to that region (-25 HP). At this point, the electricity from Flash's soul generator was unavoidable, thus dealt full damage to the Griffon (-10 HP). Before the Griffon could do much else, it was suddenly kicked by flash under it's skull. Though the attack landed, the damage was minimized as it landed on the bone-like armor that covered a majority of it's skull (-10 HP).

Disoriented from the kick, the Griffon began to blindly attack the area around itself, swinging it's head around. At the same time as it did, it received another shock from Flash's semblance which also managed to successfully land (-10 HP). This did nothing however, in preventing the Griffon's blind attack.

In it's thrashing the Griffon's head clipped the large droid's shoulder' dealing little damage but successfully shocking itself. The droid quickly skirted around the thrashing beast, it's crazed mindset and wild attacking making it all the easier. He rolled as he lifted his shotgun from the grass. Pumping it once before aiming down the iron sights.

He measured the distance with his optics, the bird-horse was within his range. He took the first shot, hoping to draw the beast's attention before rushing toward it. He let out one shot, sparking his aura up once more. Electricity rippling all over his body and along the weapon. He used the gun to extend his reach, lunging forward with it as if he were a fencer using a 2000 volt rapier.

Upon doing so he brought himself to a halt, pumping his shotgun once more. The beast couldn't be far from death, it's thrashing was an indication it was afraid and near death. He could only hope he'd been quick and merciful to the poor beast, that it wouldn't have time to suffer.

Some may call the grimm evil, they were certainly more harm than good, but any beast which attacked had to attack for a reason. Be if for sustenance or out of fear.

Knocking Flash backwards, the Griffon did not realize the opportunity and opening it gave the android to retrieve it's weapon. As quickly and smoothly Flash recovered from the impact of the Griffon, the Griffon itself hadn't properly readied itself for any sort of counterattack. Instead, the Griffon extended it's wings as Flash was knocked backwards, and let out a loud, hawk-like screech, in a form of dominance.

Doing so left the Griffon's own self open to attacks for a brief moment. This moment, would prove to be more then enough time for Flash's counterattack to successfully land. Flash's quick recovery enabled his weapon thrust to land successfully. The electricity that coursed through the weapon went into the Griffon, severely weakening it (-20 HP). The final weapon thrust pierced through the hide of the Griffon, and in doing so, was just enough to finish the Grimm (-5 HP).

Defeated, the Griffon began to disintegrate into black ashes, fading away into the wind.

Flash was glad that the poor beast was finally dead, stomping hard upon it's corpse to split it up and aid in a quick disintegration process. He didn't want some child to find it and freak out, certainly not. Reckless stupidity like that could create some rather Grimm situations. He dusted the dirt off of his metallic body, realizing he'd probably have to get a fresh coat some time soon. He was probably already due one regardless.

Pulling his Grimm radar back out and wrapping the shotgun's strap around his back, Flash began his venture deeper into the forest. Following the small radar blips deeper into the dusky woods. It wouldn't be long before he came across his final target for the night, the mission briefing had read that this opponent was great. That he would likely have to head back as soon as the opponent was bested for medical attention... then again, that had been written for a fleshy one in mind. Not the likes of him.

The droid could wade for thirty nights and thirty days, coming out the other side with only batteries drained and a slight rust... well, perhaps that was an overestimation. He could certainly walk for that long, if he kept to a certain speed and used minimal capacity. But fighting was a different matter. There was far too much uncertainty. A fight with creeps was not a fight with a deathstalker. He opted to remain out for two more hours. That much he knew he could handle. He couldn't disappoint his friends, he was supposed to be big and tough for them.

The tall droid once more slowly bwgan to roam through the undergrowth. The garbs of night not hiding him quite as well as it would his opponents. Or at least, half of his opponent.

Flash had heard rumblings of a king Tai in the area, the large sbake had been the very reason he had set out this night. Not to hunt small fry like the Griffon he had saddly bested. He had heard from his fleshy freinds of the devestation the large sbakes could cause. Tearing hunters limb from limb in the blink of an eye. Finishing foes quickly.

The droid followed his tracking device. It's low beeping growing louder and louder. It reminded him of one of the movies that had scared him. One of the ones with aliens with acid for blood. He got really sad about films with killer robots. But films with killer aliens were almost as bad. He much prefered the ones with the healing powers and the fingers which gave off light. At least he was nice.

Flash rounded a tree, growing closer and closer to his beacon.
