Roux Lanj

Roux Lanj
The moon had risen high in the dark empty sky, illuminating all below it; and, deep within Finnek forest, there he strode. Bas Pushka already extended and in hand, he prowled the forest with a twitch in his eye and a growl in his throat. It was not often that Roux would grow this restless, but for almost a week now, the capital had been unusually peaceful, leaving little to no job or task for Roux to sate himself with; and, if Bellmuse did not require his hand, the grimm would have his sword.

It was some time before he stopped, placing himself in a clearing, perhaps 20 meters wide and surrounded by trees. Amidst the trees and above the grass, a cold wind bit hard against his bare arms as it rustled and whistled with leaves and hollows. This was the ideal place to fight. The wide space afforded him maximum movement, the grass was about at knee’s height, alerting him with an audible rustle if anything had escaped the detection of his eyes. Above, not a thing could obstruct his flight, allowing for an easy escape if things got out of hand; or, more likely, outmaneuver his opponents. All that was left was to wait and, when they come, tear and rend until naught but teeth remain.

Creep

Creep

GRIMM ENCOUNTER EASY
Grimm Type: Creep
Count: 1
Level: 2
Creep 100/100
5 Damage Resistance

As creatures of darkness, Grimm activity often rose while night covered the planet. During the day, Finnek Forest was already considered to be danger to traverse, as it was already full of Grimm. At night though, it was highly recommended that the Forest was to be avoided if possible. Perhaps one of the few were given leeway to this recommendation were Hunters and Hunters in training, as slaying Grimm was their art, doing so at night only made it easier to execute. Even so, despite being professionals or soon to be professionals, extreme caution was to be exercised.

The student standing out in the open, it was no difficult task for a simple minded creep to spot Roux as he awaited a fight. The creep had no intention of attacking him head on however, as instincts prompted it to take a different approach, one that focused on a ambush tactic.

Out of view amongst the tree line hidden by darkness and bushes, the Creep began to burrow downward into the Earth, digging itself deep into the ground. Several meters underground, the creep began to make its way directly below Roux, burrowing through rocks and soil. Assuming the student hadn't moved, the Creep began to dig upward with explosive speed, quickly surfacing through the ground below Roux's estimated position. As the Creep burst out of the ground, it attempted to bite at Roux's original position, intending to immediately injure the student right off of the bat.

Roux Lanj

Roux Lanj
Roux seethed in place, mumbling something or other about how few grimm were out that night. Every so often, the grass would rustle barely in earshot, or a shadow would vanish just in his periphery, or the distant scent of blood would ride the cold night’s wind and caress his nose, all coming to nothing. Frustrated and cold, Roux was just about to call it quits when suddenly, a trembling had started underfoot, culminating in a burst of white and black jumping from the ground to snap at his leg. Having failed to anticipate an attack from below, shock and rage mixed and permeated through his face for a moment before giving way to an almost masochistic joy. With gritted teeth and hysteric eyes, Roux vertically lodged Bas between the beast’s jaws, keeping it from clutching further.

“Make some noise, meat. Your friends won’t come if they can’t hear you.”

With that, Roux pushed down and forth on Bas, digging between the creep’s teeth and prying his lightly punctured leg free and out. Limbs free, Roux brought Bas overhead, dragging the jagged edges of its segmented blade across the insides of the creep’s mouth along the way. Following immediately, he brings it crashing down hard against the bony plates before jumping back, preparing to strike again.

Creep

Creep

GRIMM ENCOUNTER EASY
Grimm Type: Creep
Count: 1
Level: 2
Creep 55/100
5 Damage Resistance

Though the initial ambush attack done by the creep would be difficult for it's prey to dodge, there was one severe downside to it; doing so left it suspended briefly in air, thus leaving it open to any quick counter attacks.

Roux's sword found it's way into the creeps mouth with little resistance, and struck the creep horizontally across it's open mouth, dealing full damage (-25 HP). This attack momentarily stunned the Grimm, and in doing so, provided another opening for Roux to take advantage of.

Roux's second struck the creep on the hard, bone-like armor that protected it's head, and as such, the creep managed to avoid the full blow of the attack. The attack was still heavy enough to deal decent damage against the creep, and slammed the front of its body into the ground (-20 DMG).

The creep didn't stay down for long though, and quickly attempted to make a desperate counter attack. Just moments after it's body had slammed the earth, the creep used it's hind legs and pushed off against the ground into the direction of Roux, attempting to hit him with a body slam.

[OOC: I'm assuming both of the attacks are supposed to be 30 damage not including the creeps defense, so I just counted them as so. Don't worry about trying to incorporate the creeps defense in your stuff, I can easily work it out in my posts. If you have any questions on why the attacks did what they did, feel free to pm me or something.]

The distance Roux had put between himself and the creep seemed to disappear in an instant, leaving but a moment for Roux to react and even less to think. As the looming shadow came atop him, Roux instinctively pulled back and aside, using the momentum to bring Bas around into a circular spin, chopping into the bony plates a second time and sending it veering off course. With the immediate danger literally out of the way, he took a moment to appraise the situation before the creep could launch a counter-counter-counter-offensive. Now standing a few metres beside and nearly behind his foe, he wasted little time in pressing his advantage.

“You KNEEd to be more careful!”

Holding Bas close to chest, Roux put all his strength into his legs as he pounced forth, bringing Bas into a heavy cleave aimed at the creep’s knee, aiming to take the whole leg clean off. As if only for the joy of it, he brought Bas around a second time, cleaving into the other leg this time, albeit not as quickly.

Roux's dodge and spin allowed him to bring his weapon around in the blind spot of the Grimm, and in dong so, caught the creep by surprise. The attack came around, striking the creep directly on the side of one of it's front legs. The strike was true, dealing full damage to the creep as well as momentarily crippling it (-25 HP).

Not able to move out of the way to dodge Roux's next attack, the creep could not avoid getting hit. Instead, the best option for the Creep was to brace itself for the attack. Reading Roux's next attack aimed towards its leg, the creep lowered it's shoulder in order to block the blade. The weapon struck against the creep's bone-like armor, thus lessening the overall impact of the attack (-20 HP).

Things were hopeless for the creep though, and Roux's final overhead attack struck the creep directly across it's back against it's bone-like armor. On it's last legs, the attack penetrated the Creeps defenses and cut the Grimm into two, killing it and causing it's remains to disperse into black ashes (-5 HP)

Roux Lanj

Roux Lanj
Roux stood there, drinking in the deathly aroma as the creep dissipated into still air. An almost feral growl escaped him as he drew Bas from the ground again to swing with wild abandon, hoping to hit something but ultimately not caring anymore. It was not until the wind picked up again, carrying the smell of fresh blood, much closer now, that he stopped, eyeing the outer rim of his clearing. Tree and bush whistled and snarled at him all around, testing Roux for fear and anxiety, only to find a mind gone blank and feral. Bas coiled taut around and behind him, prepared to strike as Roux snarled back, grinding his teeth with impatience; and, from out of the woods, they came, each eager to spill and be spilled on the grass.

As they came, an orange glow started around Roux, condensing on his spine before bursting out as a pair of fiery wings. Lifting just off the ground, he flew forth through the horde, skewering and splitting his foes with rabid ferocity. Into the dawn, they persevered, tearing and rending at each other, horrid howls and manic laughter echoing through the forest all the night. Drenched in sweat and mixed blood, Roux returned to the dorm not long after, pure bliss on his face.
