Beauty and Power (Canceled)

Quill was walking though the area to find wild ingredients, he wanted to make a dish using wild foods like wild peppers. A nice lady had gave him locations to find most of the ingredients but wild boar, she said that wild boars normally hang around clearing but the more tasty ones are found randomly in the forest. Quill had packed for his hunt and found most of the ingredients but the wild boar. But then a wild boar appeared, Quill was going to shoot it with a custom arm crossbow but then he saw that the boar had piglets so he didn't shoot it and went off to find a different one. Before he could find one, a tree not to close to him exploded into a shower of splinters, Quill had fallen backwards because of this and the rest of the tree fell making cover for Quill to hide behind. He took out his custom crossbow arm and aimed it in the direction where what ever the thing that turn that tree into a log came from. Then he saw it, a woman that is powerful and beautiful.

Though his eyes were on the girl, he then notice the massive Ursa right next to her, he then charged at it with his weapon drawn. He did strike it but it was tougher then he thought, so he stabbed it and started filling its gut up with lava, the Ursa then finally died after what seemed to take a while. He then sheathed his weapon and looked back at the girl, she was so beautiful to him and seemed to know how to fend for her self. He then walked up to her and had asked in a little nerviest tone,"Hello, are you hurt in anyway?" He felt like he had butterflies in his gut, in his mind he was thinking,'what is this feeling, it is so strange but when i look at this girl it starts up. Maybe im sick or is this what they mean by fallen in love? Don't know.' He then asked her,"So what is your name and why are you out her?"

"oh me, well my name is Quill Darwind of Little Torch Town, and for what im doing out here is gathering up wild ingredients for a dish i want to try. I think it is called a Wild Boar Nest, heard it was taste all im really missing is the boar. Would like to try some with me once i find the wild boar?" Quill is very kind to new people but isn't the type to know how he feels about someone, his mind was telling him that this girl was different from the rest while his heart pounded like a massive drum. He the realized that Ursa must of been her pray but didn't want to say anything about it, then he saw her equipment,"Oh you have some good looking equipment, im guessing custom made from a very skilled weapons smith, better then mine it just something passed down though the ages."

"Hm? I know age doesn't make stuff obsolete, a corporation or in my case, a country does by making items that make man obsolete. You know how many of my friends lost their jobs because a machine would of been a better choice then someone who has been doing that same job for about 18 years. Also size doesn't matter when you got something like this to back it up." Quill then walked over to the noise a wild boar trying to get something, the same boar from before had shown up digging at the tree. One of its babies got trap when it fell, so Quill lift up the tree enough to let the baby boar free, the mama was happy hand had left the area back to their nest. "Don't bother them, they need to get big and strong before i hunt them for real." Quill does have a sense of honor when it comes to the hunt, he finds it better then just going around killing random animals for no reason and dooming younger animals for a chance at life.

Zoe couldn't help but roll her eyes as Quill's failed attempt to take back his words. He clearly meant that newer weapons were better than old ones by his comment and his philosophical response wasn't going to undo what he said. She was also about to tell how size does matter, at least when talking about hunting, but he went to help a family of boar before telling her not to kill them. Her eyes rolled once again. Did he seriously thought he'd teach HER something about game hunting?

"Look, if you really think you can catch a boar with that thing you're wrong. The core of the crossbow is too small to launch the bolt at any decent speed to pierce through their skin. If by a miracle you were to, the bolt is too short to go through the muscles and fat and reach any of their vital organs. You could always aim for the head, well... their eyes actually, as I don't think you'd pierce their skull." did Zoe explain calmly. Rather than teeling him that he sucked at hunting, she decided to actually teach him where he was wrong. I was more to make herself feel better by sharing her knowledge though. She continued her explanation "That's why hunting crossbows are generally as big as guns, so they can use arrows instead of bolts. So by default you're ill-equipped for the job, so... want me to hunt that boar for you or you'll stick to that crossbow of yours?"

Quill then didn't like her at all and to his leave away from her "You seem like the person that doesn't like hunting with others like most hunters do, you're welcome for saving your hide but next time i'm just going to let you handle it by yourself." With that he leaves, he didn't really find any wild boars so he left the forest and gave all the ingredients to the nice lady that gave him all the locations to find them,"Thank you but i couldn't really find any boars to hunt and it seems like a waste to just let these ingredients spoil and not be used by a cook. Thank you again, i hope the next time we meet I have the last ingredient and we could have a nice meal together as friends." He then went to the academy where he was a little angry and sad that he didn't get to make that dish.

There was not much more to do for Zoe besides watching Quill leave in the other direction. She stood there for a moment trying to think about what went through his head to say what he did. Not the kind of huntress that enjoys hunting with others? Where did he ever get that from? She offered him her help to hunt so if there was someone that didn't like hunting in groups it had to be him. Maybe he just couldn't accept that she actually knew what she talking about that made him leave, that was her guess at least.

Shrugging off this short encounter, Zoe headed up north more as she began to track some footprints that she didn't recognize right away, but they were rather small yet elongated. Following those tracks for a while, they led to a hole under a rock from which a light emanated. It was a bright warm light but upon closer inspection, the glow seemed to come from a mossy rock down the hole. Reaching her hand down, the girl poked the rock to find out that it wasn't hard at all and was even soft. Giving it a few more pokes, she heard a small cry coming from the "thing" which startled her. Jumping back a meter or so, she kept her eyes on the hole to see a rabbit-like creature emerge. This had to be what she was poking, as the small furry ball was shining like a lamp. It was small and round with a greenish fur and stood on elongated feet at the end of its hind legs and had a rather long tail. Growing right next to its long floppy ears was a rack similar to a dear's. The bright golden eyes of the little critter were fixed on Zoe and in an instant it jumped and did a front flip before vanishing in a small cloud of smoke.

Still sitting on the ground, the brunette was blinking, trying to understand what just happened and what she saw right there. Was her imagination playing tricks on her? If there really was something in front of here and that she wasn't crazy, why did it seem like everything and everyone was avoiding her today? Zoe decided that a nap was probably the best thing to do right now so she immediately began to trace back her step and head back to the Academy. While she walked back though, she could swear that the critter's footprints were there earlier...
