A day at the beach was supposed to be fun. Noire had heard that it involved sand castles, snow angels, playing with balls (of the beach kind) and lounging about under the sun. When Syne had assigned her to go there for the day, she hadn't been expecting to need her armor and dust and weapons... wasn't she supposed to be in a bathing suit? The young girl pouted. Of course her first trip had to be a mission. Not only that, but the instructions had been vague - Exterminate the Grimm. Quantity: Undetermined. So in other words, this was bound to go on for a while. Likely until the sun went down and all beach activities were long over. It had her in a bit of a bad mood, or as much as Noire suffered from any of those. Usually, it was little more than a tantrum and a pout, followed by indistinct muttering and the occasional passive aggressive yell. It was a little worse when she was in private and no one was really paying attention. Such was the case right now, as her bear feet left small footprints in the sand every time she inched closer to her destination.

It was one of the more deserted parts of the beach, though the occasional citizen did pop by every now and then thinking they could outsmart the crowds and spend the day in a more private location. It was that way for a reason, though - Grimm sightings tended to happen around there. Noire only hoped that no one thought of anything like that today. Syne had probably given off a warning to stay away, right? If not, Noire was in for an even worse afternoon, the poor girl. At least it meant company...? She thought, trying to see the silver lining. No, that didn't work. Any normal people that ended up here were more likely to end up as a kebab than anything else.

With that in mind, the white haired girl drew hear weapon - a giant sword that was almost as tall as she was. She slipped a vial of wind dust inside for preparation. She wouldn't use it outright, but it was best to be prepared. After all, she had no idea what kind of armor or skills this thing would have. Heck, she didn't even know what kind of creature she should be expecting. Oh well. It was best to get stared right? The sooner this was over, the sooner she could get to town and maybe buy herself a milkshake or something.

Nevermore

Nevermore

The nevermore flew over the long strand of beach searching for prey. Human's were tasty, especially when they were from the beach, didn't have much of that weird cloth stuff they like to wear when they were on the beach. Tasted strange that cloth stuff tasted horrid. Unfortunately though the humans were smart, well most of them anyway, and would avoid this part of the beach. However, every now and again a stupid one would show up and be easy prey.

The past couple days there had been one or more of these dumb humans to prey on, so the Nevermore figured that their might be more today. Scanning below it hadn't seen anything but sand for quite some time. Eventually it circled back the way it came, still searching below for food. This time it had some luck, there was a lone human on the beach. Time for a snack. The Nevermore dived curling in its wings  to increase its speed. Why? Because speed is key!

As the ground, and lunch, grew closer the Nevermore spread its wings again coming to flight less than a hundred feet (30 meeter) above the sand. It immediately flapped its wings down hard sending a large volley of razor sharp feathers at the human below.

Loud sqwaking and a giant blob of black in the air? Say it ain't so. Noire was expecting something more along the lines of an Ursa or maybe a Beowulff. But this? A full-fledged Nevermore that she now had to fight on her own? A little piece of her died on the inside. Her lower lip almost began to quiver. This was normal for her - transitioning between her version of anger into a pathetic little ball of sadness. She looked like a kicked puppy. However, she had a job to do and it wasn't going to do itself, no matter how much she wanted it to. And she really really wanted it to. There was no choice but to tough it out, though. No one was coming to save her. She was on her own. Honestly, it was flattering that the teachers and administrators at Syne trusted her abilities enough to send her here. She wanted to live up to that expectation and the only thing she could do in order to accomplish that was fight.

As the Nevermore came closer, Noire braced herself. She didn't know what kind of attack it was going for just yet. It simply looked like it was flying towards her, no doubt it's excellent vision was targeting her completely. Soon enough, it stopped its dive and braced its wings backwards. Noire didn't really pay much attention in class (assuming she went) so the exact details of what the creature was preparing to do escaped her. The young girl had never fought a Nevermore or even seen one up close, either. Still, her instincts screamed that this couldn't be anything good. If there were ever something she listened to, it was that.

Not knowing the exact range of the attack or its effects, there was really only one thing that Noire could do, especially since the creature was so far away. A large portal opened up above her, enough to act as a shield for her whole body. Three of the feathers sank right through, leaving several others scattered around the young girl. A second portal opened up behind the Nevermore almost immediately, only half a meter away from its back. All three feathers sprang from it, aiming to stab the creature's torso dead-center, one after the other. That way, if it tried to swerve left or right, the likelihood that the feathers would at least hit its wings was still high.

Just in case and mostly as a distraction, however, Noire swiped the air three times and in three different angles - two times diagonally and once horizontally. Her blade began to glow green, signalling that the dust within it was starting to work. As she swiped her blade, three slices of wind - each two meters long and a meter wide - were created and shot towards the Grimm's exposed wings. Two headed towards the left wing while the other headed towards the right. Even if the damage it did was minimal, it would at least be rustled up, right?

As the feathers darted towards when a strange black thing showed up above the human. What the...? Before the Nevermore could think any farther three distinct shots of pain flared up in it's back. Dman it what had this human done to it? In a rage the Nevermore dived once again at the human, lunch was putting up a fight. The two wind attacks rushed by either side of the creature as it dived for its prey. It spread its wings once more and flew a few feet above the ground directly towards the human in an attempt to hit her with its beak.

After either hitting or missing the human the nevermore would pull up again to circle about for another attack. It once again sent a volley of feathers down at the human before diving once again leveling out to hit the human with its beak once more.
