Lloyd Vanheim

Lloyd Vanheim
Lloyd was roaming alone in the blue shades of the trees of the Finnek Forest, trying to get his head around the recent past event. With his right hand over his left shoulder, still cringing from the pain from his important injury. With his coat covering his left side by hanging from his shoulder, no one could see that his arm was indeed missing. The details are not important for now, but lets just say that it was cut off clean. Even the left sleeve of his coat was cut with it, leaving the clothing asymmetrical now.

With everything that had happened, Loyd didn't know what to do now. His plans were now voided and even backfired, only worsening the situation he was already in and now he was left with nothing but what he had at Syne, which in itself, wasn't that bad. Lloyd had made a few friends there, he grew stronger, made a nice weapon that was still incomplete but it was getting better and also a motorbike that he didn't even paid. Life at Syne wasn't so bad, it even felt better than Vale now that he was thinking about it. Most people didn't care for his past here, so it was like a fresh start. He was even thinking about getting a house here in Bellmuse, a place he could call home and truly mean it.

His thoughts were interrupted by an abnormal sound coming from the bushes further down the road he was walking...

All Grimm have a natural, automatic instinct to sense fear, sorrow, and pain in both humans and fauness. Their prey being both, Grimm are normally drawn to such feelings and emotions.

One single, physically unimpressive Boarbatusk roaming the Finnek Forest managed to pick up on such feelings, originating not far from its own position in the forest. Like all Grimm, the Boarbatusk was drawn to it like a moth to a light. Approaching it, it was not to long before the Boarbatusk found the source of the emotion to belong to a human. The Boarbatusk wasn't a very bright creature, and made no mental note on why the human was clutching his left side, in fact, it didn't even notice it. Instead, rage over took the boarbatusk, violence blocking out any other thought.

The Boarbatusk squealed in fury before it took off in a full sprint, charging at Lloyd. Quickly covering forest ground between itself and Lloyd, the Boarbatusk dropped the front of it's tusk, charging at Lloyd at full speed intending to impale him.

Lloyd slightly stepped back as he heard the shriek of the incoming enemy, taking his lance out of its holster and unfolding it all the while his coat, even if it was still just hanging from his shoulder, changed to its blacked armored form, looking like a fluid Grimm-like shield. He stared at the Boarbatusk as it was mindlessly running towards him in the most direct and easy to counter way possible. Out of reflex, Lloyd tried to lift his left arm to activate his Semblance to Repel the boar into the air so it would be an easier target to strike, but lacking the member he shifted position to point the ground with his right hand while holding his weapon to achieve the same tactic. "Damn, I'll have to get used to it..."

If the Grimm would had the time to reach him because of his position shifting and thus avoiding the launch, Lloyd would have repositioned himself further. If the boar was successfully launched airborne though, Lloyd would thrust at it with his lance once before extending it to its full length to strike at it for a second time with one single motion before stepping back to safety.

The boarbatusk wasn't quite expecting the sudden blast of force that knocked it into in the air, and was completely unprepared when it was knocked into the air. The Boarbatusk hadn't the slightest idea at what the force that repelled it was, not having any actual knowledge on semblances. The simple minded Grimm wasn't stumped for long as it quickly forgot about the repel blast as Lloyd's lance stabbed it's exposed belly, dealing full damage (-30 HP).

The Boarbatusk squealed in pain, and immediately began to retaliate. The Boarbatusk desperately began to spin it's entire body forward in a pinwheel motion. Lloyd's second strike hit the Boarbatusk, but the damage was minimized as the lance slid across it's outer shell as the Boarbatusk was spinning (-15 HP). The Boarbatusk came down on Lloyd, it's body spinning forward at a dangerous speed, intending to tear him apart.

Lloyd chuckled as he didn't seemed so impaired by the loss of his arm as he was dealing with this Grimm quite easily. At the same time though it was clear that it was a weak one and that there was no real merit to take in killing it. He decided that it was better to kill it as fast as he could so he could move on and do something else, like return to the academy to see if anyone could help him with his current handicap. Sure with some time he could deal with it, but he'd rather have two arms than simply one so if there was even the slightest chance to get a replacement he wouldn't waste it.

As the Boarbatusk came down in a pinwheel motion, Lloyd decided that if he moved he would probably miss his chance to finish the beast as quickly he could so instead he took stance to take the attack of the creature head on to and meet it with his own attacks, thrusting his lance as the Grimm came down and swinging it afterward to strike to its side. With the weight of his coat and his lance he should have the necessary poise to take the attack head on without flinching and be able to finish this fight.

The Boarbatusk's pinwheel attack was met head on by Lloyd, a strategy most people never took in similar situations. Lloyd's first strike struck the Boarbatusk while it was in the midst of it's pinwheel motion. The blow itself struck the outer bone-like armor of the Boarbatusk, and as a result, the extent of the damage to the Grimm was minimized (-15 HP). Lloyd's attack did however have enough force behind it to momentarily stop the Boarbatusk's forward motion in it's tracks, halting it in place. This would buy the human enough time for his quick follow up attack, the lance swing which was swung around, directly striking the Boarbatusk along it's exposed side, dealing full damage (-30 HP).

The attack sent the Boarbatusk flying off to the side, knocking it to the ground. Defeated, the Boarbatusk did not get up again, but instead, began to fade away into black ashes, as was the nature of all defeated Grimm.

Lloyd watched as his attacks sent the Boarbatusk flying to the side before it slowly faded in the usual black smoke Grimms were not to dissipate as. Rolling his shoulder slightly before folding his weapon back into its more portable form and sliding it in its holster on his right side. Taking a moment to look at the sky through the branches of the blue trees all around him, he wondered if everything he was doing right now was actually worth it. Sure all that he wanted was for the world to be a better place, but would he had more chances to change it as a Huntsman or if he was able to find away to take over the company of his father. One thing was for sure, the world would simply be better off without his parent.

Not wanting to think about his paternal too long, Lloyd shook his head before taking out his Scroll as he received a message from one of the teachers at the Academy. Immediately intrigued by the message, he began to walk back towards the school with a determined look on his face. One day he'll put an end to his father's work, one way or another, and that was a promise he made to himself.
